The Best Laid Plans

6

In this podiobook: "The Best Laid Plans" is a satirical novel of Canadian politics written by Terry Fallis. It recounts the unlikely and amusing alliance between a 30-something burnt out, jaded political staffer, and an older, cantankerous, engineering professor. Driven by a federal election and the life of the resulting minority conservative government, the novel moves between the small town of Cumberland, Ontario on the shores of the Ottawa River, and the nation's capital. While the characters and their exploits are often comical, serious ideas on politics and democracy underlie the fun. For more information on the novel and author, visit www.terryfallis.com.

    Very entertaining
I am not one for politics and was skeptical about this book, BUT I loved it. Thank you for a very enjoyable audio book.

    Politically Just
I am nearing the end of "The Best Laid Plans" and am thoroughly enjoying the story. While I am a conservative, and this story is about the rise and successes of the quite liberal Canadian politician (and yes, I know its just a story), I find myself routing for iconoclastic MP from Cumberland Prescot! I typically listen to Sci-Fi, horror, or action novels in my long commute, but Terry Fallis is opening me up to venture into other arenas. Enjoy!

    Well worth your time
Well written, performed & produced. Story mores along nicely; characters reasonablly well-developed. Witty & funny with a bit of word-play; some social commentary, but remains light-hearted and enjoyable. Not a fan of Canadian Politics? Neither am I - but I truly enjoyed the story.

    Wonderful
A good story line, characters you can believe, well read, and keeps you readung. I personally like the fact that this author can write a story that is great and contains no cuss words or sex. To me, this is the sign of a fantastic author.
