-
Jenn WolfeJust love thisLessons in how we can all take action. Season 3 episode about Majal.org was great. I donated, lol, but she is so right about how most platforms work and the brokenness of the philanthropy-industrial complex.
-
Rena M GLove this showThank you for creating this show and space to talk about such important issues and how we can live, thrive, and fight for justice in this world.

BoiseansHow To Citizen with BaratundeI am so delighted to have found this podcast! I have been so busy my whole life with my blinders on and nose to the grindstone. As I have started to stretch and look around, here is Baratunde, his collaborators, and all of his guests. I am learning so much and trying to figure out how to better citizen. Thank you for all the mind and eye-opening experiences!
-
J_ Cat27Positive & Intelligent EngagementThank you Baratunde for sharing your voice and heart with all. Insightful and thoughtful with many guest Citizens worldwide whose determination and courage communicate a foundation for hope. 💙

Gnarly bro!New ListenerI just finished episode 3 and I will definitely be coming back for more.

Jonnydragon88Stop lying on our peopleSo you just wanna make everyone believe we’re all poor and unfortunate and sad? You make me angry because half the information isn’t true. I’m a Botha just like you and all this just isn’t true of me and my family’s life. Not even some of the historical things. Sure you got a few things right, but what you got wrong does more harm than good. You’re making Black people feel more oppressed than whats actually going on and honestly most of my generation doesn’t even feel this like you’ve stated. Please do better, or at least give better more hopeful message.

Ericka SimoneOne of the first podcasts I've enjoyed in a while.Informative podcast from an amazing writer and thought leader in his field. Looking forward to binging his content even more.

TMT-DC@SamPolk was a really interesting interviewVery nice job.

SBSchuWonderfully UpliftingI so enjoy this podcast! I started listening to it after hearing about the host from another podcast. His message and that of his guests is uplifting and active. Instead of just pointing out all of the wrongs, he and his guests inform us of how they are tackling them. They also give the listeners ways to get involved. I am so happy to be listening to this podcast ( I started in season one because that is the way my brain likes it!) as it is a positive way to see through all of the darkness that is surrounding us these days! Thanks!!💞

Not the average JoeGrounded and InspiringThis show not only grounds you in the issue at hand, but also inspires you with positive, active steps toward a solution. If everyone listened to this podcast, we would truly have a better, more empathetic and understanding world.

Rlene DRight time and placeThis podcast is EXACTLY what I needed and when I needed it. Please keep creating podcasts for an eager, thirsty public. Thank you for being my sustaining water in this desert of anxiety, pain, insecurity and suffering. Thank you.

The ZoopInspiringI appreciate the thoughtful conversations and informative and inspiring content. Wonderful show.
-
podgeek2Necessary listening!I felt like this last year awakened me to what is really going on for many fellow citizens - but now I can say that the real awakening is listening to this amazing man and his amazing guests. I just found his podcast (so I’m catching up from last year) so glad I did ! I’m planning to citizen my heart out in retirement !

RA from LAThis a Five Star Podcast. F**k the Racist Haters!Everyone in the U.S. needs to listen to this show. It really does teach you exactly how we should be democratizing. IT’S NOT JUST FOR U.S. CITIZENS! Gente sin papeles are definitely (lovingly) part of the conversation. This show is thoughtful, engaging, asks all the right rhetorical q’s and has some A++++ guests who share wisdom errrrbody needs to hear. Plus, Baratunde has a silky voice! ❤️ I heard his wisdom on another podcast and hit subscribe the second I found his podcast. It’s *CLEAR* that the racist trolls who can’t handle the truth or how amazing this show is down-rated this show as an act of violence and censorship bcz they benefit from the racist hateration* they perpetuate and that this show fights against. alex.tcsHard Work with HopeThank you! This timely podcast brings perspective and information in a relatable and simple way. Listening to the Prelude with Valarie Kaur squeezed my heart with a sense of hope and optimism I haven’t felt about this work for a long time. The pitfall of progressive politics has been the emphasis on how terrible the world is- and don’t get me wrong, so many horrors have been wrought it’s true. But this show makes me believe there is a future we can build where everyone’s humanity is recognized and central. Nothing is inevitable, and we can build a world with bonds of love.
-
AbbyBuzonWe ALL NEED this podcastEvery episode has something different. A different perspective you hadn’t considered, a situation or hardship you’ve never even imagined - this podcast is here to help us all become better people, better Americans, better neighbors, better friends. The comment/criticism in Reviews about communism blows my mind. That person is evidence of how badly we need this podcast.

LotloxaSecond Season blows the first out of the waterTitle says it all. If you’re coming into the show, start with the second season and if you like the message and you want to “citizen” then listen to the first season. The second season has more focused episodes. I suppose the difference is that the first season is like an interview show that meandered as he picked their brain. I really loved the live audience asking questions, but the second season is way more meaningful as big bites of dense knowledge. Ultimately, my biggest criticism for the first season is when the host gives the recap/calls for action at the ed of each episode, I can barely remember what was said over the last hour. If I could rate seasons individually, I would give the first season 2 stars and the second season 5.
-
Nada RGreat podThis is a very interesting podcast . The episode with heather McGee was engaging and enlightening.
-
jskelly03Communisma political theory derived from Karl Marx, advocating class war and leading to a society in which all property is publicly owned and each person works and is paid according to their abilities and needs.
-
elajojoStupendousI listen to a LOT of podcasts, and this is one of the best, hands down!
-
SA MooreAwesomeThis is a much-need tool for enlightenment and inspiration to citizen right where we are!

Bootie from CincyTitle: Why do i need a title to express my Deep Gratitude?I love everything about you! I’m a hurt person who doesn’t hurt people, or animals...and as you well know, that takes a lot of restraint and impulse control! Your magic touches my magic that’s been hidden under a bushel for far too long. Thank you for helping me through this
-
ndub101Super good!I love how this podcast looks being a citizen as a verb. Great suggestions and great guests! An essential for all.
-
clamshoppppeInstantly became my favorite podcastI’m a little late to the Baratunde party but am so glad I discovered this podcast. It covers a wide range of issues and does so in a way that is simultaneously easy to grasp and with depth. Baratunde is an incredible host giving his guests plenty of room to share their story but interjecting just enough to let you know he’s there and engaged. Every episode inspires me to want to talk more about the issues and do more. Can’t wait for Season 2!
-
Marcos Luis, Bk,NYGreat One!This podcast, with every Episode is more compelling to ignite a sense of commitment and community with each other. It questions each individual and asks how you can make Life better for yourself and for each other’s.
-
dblrainbow2Best podcastInformative, uplifting and goal-oriented, this podcast guides us on how to responsibly direct our passion for better communities, for a better world.
-
Nowyoulisten!UnlistenableIf you want to think how you want to think than go ahead & enjoy, I guess but don’t expect to be challenged to think differently. Notice the positive reviews about how great the host is & how awesome the podcast is..but nothing about the substance of the ideas.
-
Mariam 💭Really informational and transgressive content!!I am learning so much from this podcast. The pure candor/specificity/range that this provides is just really special. I’ve definitely been called out and have super reflective ever since. Give Baratunde a WEEKEND SLOT ON OUR TELEVISION ♥️
-
Ladylipz14Love it!My therapist put me on, and I’m so glad she did. I have loved ones with opposing political views, and I found the episodes with Ester Perel and Valarie Kaur particularly helpful. I hope there is another season coming.
-

-
Logan and Cams MimiI have been looking for a podcast like thisThis podcast is incredibly different than other podcasts that I have listened to. Its an enthusiastic call to action. Baratunde has incredible guests who have created change in their own communities, all the while he is passionately helping each listener create a pathway for change in their respective communities. This is pure genius.
-

022161Great interview with Eric LiuAppreciated the action steps at the end.
-
The Sensational Hoxsey Banksnot feeling episode 1 but the rest is GREATIf you didn't like the first episode or felt like he was trying too hard I urge you to keep listening, there is alot of good information and Baratunde creates a great space for his guests to fly. Just remember it's a lot of pressure when first launching a podcast to find footing, by the end of the season, he's reached his stride (it's the best episode)
-
JessieAdoreI appreciate the concept and contextSomething about the delivery doesn’t work for me. Like he’s trying so hard to be profound that it’s falling flat. I’ve heard Baratunde on other programs where he was completely riveting - but it hasn’t translated to this show unfortunately. Maybe a co-host would bring some balance.
-
Willa BRA doable approach to making an impactEach episode I’ve listened has been a discussion with people on the ground doing the work of now. The shows break down the overwhelming feeling of being an American in this moment in time and makes change feel possible and concrete. It’s grounding and inspiring is such uncertain times. I’ve learned about so many great programs working to make change right now by listening.
-
süsüserWonderful heartfelt and PRAGMATICWhat a gift! Baratunde brings us brilliant leaders who lead with their heart as well as their refined minds. This helps us who feel powerless to take baby steps to mold us into better citizens of the world. Lean into love, compassion and kindness. The only way is through unity. Thanks Baratunde for helping us stretch ourselves and grow.
-
Stone&FassbenderAn antidote to helplessness and apathyBarratunde mixes levity and seriousness as he introduces us to people building a better world from the ground up. Each episode restores my faith that maybe, just maybe, the moral arc of the universe really does bend towards justice. Many thanks to Barratunde for helping me make it through 2020, starting with “We’re Having a Moment.”
-
Leslie and MattA must listenI love the way Baratunde Sparta knowledge with a firm but kind voice and nudges me with actionable items on how to citizen!
