Because that’s where you find the “gravy” – the rich, flavorful sauce that brings out the best parts of the dish that is life.

Each episode we’ll put the lives of recently deceased celebrities under the microscope to consider the not-so-obvious ways these icons of culture left their impact and imprint on modern history. It’s a hilarious and fresh perspective on the celebrities you thought you knew.

    Cute Curation
I’ve recently stepped away from YouTube, and this show has been the perfect remedy. The hosts, Michael and Amit, are a joy to listen to. They've curated an impressive roster of cultural icons, revealing the shared humanity of even the most celebrated figures. My favorite episodes are about people whose names I know but whose stories I don’t. The John Madden and Curly Neal episodes introduced me to figures I knew little about, and it’s a delightful way to pass the time. Can’t wait for new episodes!

    Outstanding
If you like biographies and history, this is your show. Amit and Michael’s friendship makes their conversation fun to listen to and they make me feel like I’m in the room with them. This is a brilliant format and their research on the room temp celebrity is comprehensive deluxe. Outstanding podcast.

    Fun, substantial, original, and thought-provoking
Original, thought-provoking approach to evaluating the life stories of people we admire and envy to reflect on values and what makes a fulfilling life. The categories — including “does this person like what they see in the mirror” and “would you rather share coffee, cocktails or cannabis with this person” — are both fun and substantial.

    Pretty good
I like biographies. It’s a good format. Only complaint is it’s mostly about men.

    Lovely
You guys are great. This show is so much more than I expected it to be. I would just ask that you reconsider the St Peter / pearly gates bit. It’s the only part of the show I don’t love and I hate that it ends with a religious dud.

so grateful to have found this podcast
i’m probably a little out of the desired demographic; on the other hand, i’m grateful to have lived long enough to be able to take this ride with michael and amit and relive so many of these cultural milestones. i would say that about 90% of their perceptions and conclusions are right on and i laugh when i want to throw spaghetti at my phone screen when they get something wrong. this is a very insightful and original experience and certainly a learning experience for those not having lived at the same time as those celebrated. good job, you guys. it’s fun, smart and some of us get to relive how we got here! keep on keeping on!

    Love the intelligence found here!
Fantastic way to reflect on one’s life…before you die…through the lens of people with famous jobs. The conversation is great and I find myself pondering my own reactions and thoughts. Don’t let the celebrity of this podcast fool ya, this IS a podcast for all of us! Bravo you guys!

    Phenomenal Programming
Rare to listen to a show with such a professional level of intelligence and sincerity in every single episode. Not since “Smartless” have I been so drawn to a podcast. They take their theme and use it as a foundation to engage in so many diverse, fascinating conversations…and honestly, I never want to miss an episode. I rarely write reviews, but when I listen to something this good - that doesn’t feature the “household names” of so many other famous podcasts - I want to be sure to show the love and support.

The use of profanity is disappointing for a CLEAN podcast
The podcast is very interesting, but I can’t recommend to others or listen with the family due to the profanity. Please change to deceptive CLEAN rating.

    Don’t…
…know who that dude is, but he is annoying beyond belief! Concept is good. Listening to the Prince episode. Don’t know why only the last 1-10 years though. We’ve just experienced those people’s lives, so you really need to be bring some serious insight and little known info to justify covering v such recent artist! Will suffer through this one episode, but I couldn’t listen to that giggly, entirely unfunny guy for an hour to get through any others! And if you’re going to bother to bring up the Rock and Roll Hall of fame performance, why would you not tell the back story to that situation! The story was documented by either Billboard or Rolling Stone! Not that hard! This just feels like a couple of overgrown teenagers talking loud and saying nothing. I need a bit more sophistication from a podcast. And btw, HUMANS ARE NOT THE ONLY CREATURE THAT HAVE A NEUROLOGICAL REACTION TO MUSIC! In fact, aren’t the only creature that MAKES music! WHERE did yall get that goofy cartoon character from?

    Lazy
What a lazy effort. If you’re going to devote an hour long podcast to someone, at least do your homework to find out about the person. The Burt Reynolds episode was especially bad. Yeah, Burt created Win, Lose, or Draw - with Burt Convy, the host. Not Burt Conway. It was one of the top shows for years. Proof that any hack can spin up a podcast.

    Thank you for something original!
The hosts really do their homework before each episode, and the setup is unique and entertaining. It’s like the Biography Channel but in podcast form and presented with much more enthusiasm!

    Great concept. Annoying hosts.
And the Pantheon CEO really manages to destroy the Leonard Cohen episode. If you're in the podcast industry maybe it's not a great idea to use your iPhone so u sound like you're calling in from a cave.

    Famous and gravy
This podcast is thoughtfully reflective about life and death There is a lot to learn about grace and mercy in the journeys taken by the people they present in their podcast. The host have great comradery and humor. Well done

Makes you think … and smile
Famous & Gravy makes you think about a life well lived and even the end that no one can really choose. Amit and Michael’s humor and values are on display, and it gives great insight into how others view famous lives from the outside looking in. I must remember this when I am famous myself … I often think about points made on this show long after the next episode hits.

My only reservation with a 5 star review is Famous

    So much fun
Though this show’s topic is centered on dead celebrities it really celebrates life, and the hosts do a wonderful job of honoring its subjects with humor and affection.

    Entertaining & thought provoking
Really interesting premise for a show – a fun mix of pop culture and thoughtful life philosophical discussion
  • Pop Etymology
    Fascinating
In choosing this topic, they’re covering people who have built the culture we are all living in today, and are able to take a completist view of their work and legacy. Well researched and delivered.

A good premise (and it’s better than the premise)
In 2022, this is the podcast you want. They’re not talking about the news or the declining state of the world. Two hosts, riffing. This show captures the great freewheeling quality of a “would you rather” conversation on a friend’s porch. The hosts have distinct voices in the conversation, in which each episode amounts to a sort of “deep dive” on a celebrity’s obituary. Both hosts have a witty, avuncular quality that makes for great listening. Better than the premise of the show.
  • Frizzle96
    Celebrity gossip you can stomach
The hosts tackle the subject of death with introspective wit and humor, all the while introducing us to this underground knowledge to the lives of celebrities we just thought we knew. The show is well-researched and organized into routine segments.

    I love this pod!
This pod is fun, interesting, and informative. I always learn something new about the famous people they discuss and I enjoy hearing the hosts’ takes on them.

    Volunteer ‘Guest’ Guesser?
I am nominating myself to guess a guest and help open the show although I am thoroughly unqualified and a bit anxious. Great work gentleman. F&G is a pleasant balance between a thoughtfully furrowed brow and genuine snickers.

    A different take
This is a very unusual way to recap and reimagine the lives that of some well known and beloved icons! Well worth the listen!
  • r2d2i2
    Thought provoking and deeply human
Amit and Michael have great chemistry and feel like they’re right there with you as they discuss the details of famous people’s lives to answer, ultimately, the question of whether they’d want those lives. I enjoy following the consistent format of their empathic analysis, and I love thinking about my own values as Amit and Michael explore theirs in the context of famous lives.

    Funny & Interesting!
Really enjoying what these two guys are up to. Keep it up!
  • PodisLifeDC
    Great Show
Amit and Michael have created a very entertaining podcast that mixes humor, debate, and engaging trivia into something that challenges the listener. While you learn about dead celebrities and the lives they lead, I think the more interesting asepect of the show is listening to the hosts debate the lives these celebrities have led as it relates to their own dreams and expeirences. A+

    Entertaining and thoughtful
Fun, lighthearted podcast that makes you think. Helps me appreciate my non-famous life and think about where I’m going. 👏👏👏

    Worth it!
Love the absurd nature of this podcast, I’m not a big fan of celeb knowledge but the great content will make you remember them and you’ll be interesting at parties with this knowledge..

Very witty and funny yet profound
What a terrific idea for a podcast!! These two do a great job digging into our collective obsession with celebrities and what their lives mean to us. I love the structure and rapport between the two. Can’t wait for more!
