Obrigado!

Agnis lover!! Olivia L.Carioca ConnectionAlexia & Foster provide consistently high quality conversation on a wide variety of topics of interest to anyone wanting to learn about the fascinating country of Brazil in Portuguese. This podcast is an excellent way to improve & maintain Brazilian Portuguese from a young, fresh & intelligent bi-cultural couple. Obrigada Alexia e Foster! Highly recommend.

Amy__GAwesome podcast!Iâve listened to every episode of this podcast and it has helped my Portuguese so much! Iâve never been to Brazil, but after doing only DuoLingo and listening to these episodes, I can now listen to the news in Brazilian Portuguese and mostly understand whatâs going on! I especially love some of the more recent episodes where the hosts really open up about issues that are important to them, like mental health đ Obrigada, Alexia e Foster!

MindaisySaudades do Brasil! This podcast is perfect for anyone who has spent time in Brasil and doesnât want to lose their portuguĂȘs!

checkmate king twoI changed my mind.I previously wrote a glowing review of his podcast. I love Brazil and this podcast gave me a chance to relax and hear about Brazilian culture. Iâm fluent in Portuguese. However as of late, this podcast is turning increasingly more into a platform for left-wing politics. I came here to listen to and hear about Brazilian culture, Not individuals using this as a political platform.

Unhappy in the USAFantĂĄstico!! Que Legal queridos đI grew up in SĂŁo Paulo a long time ago. I hadnât been back in 35 years and I fell in love with Brazil all over again. While I had retained a good deal of Portuguese over the years, it was a struggle. Reading a lot helped of course, but understanding the spoken word was difficult. Especially for me. Iâm deaf and wear hearing aids and English is tough. You guys helped a lot! The episodes are all engaging and really highlight some of the lesser known aspects of Brazil. The politics (Alexia, seu pai Ă© Ăłtimo!!), the music, literature, all of it. I hope it continues to season 5. Muito obrigado. P.S. Foster you donât know how lucky you are with Alexia. E pare de dizer âtipoâ! Ă chato! đ

Brazilianspirit10 Stars...Brilliant Podcast!!!!!!I visited Rio de Janeiro last year and fell in love with it. As a result, I decided to learn Portuguese. I have been studying for 6 months and discovered Carioca Connection podcast via a Google search. I absolutely LOVE IT!!! It's a pleasure to listen to Foster and Alexia. They are informative, entertaining and funny. They are playful with each other (love hearing both of them laugh. It is infectious) and obviously enjoying doing this. I have learned a lot about Brazilian culture, politics, travel and a wide variety of topics. But most importantly, the podcast has bumped up my vocabulary and comprehension significantly. I am delighted to have discovered Carioca Connection and am grateful to Alexia and Foster. All the best to both of you. Muito obrigado!

squierllSo helpful! As an English speaker I benefit from listening to both Foster and Alexia speak. Fosterâs accent is easier for me, but the goal is to be able to understand native speakers, so I love being able to experience both in one short episode. I read the transcript and listen to one episode a day. I love picking up on the colloquialisms so when I go back to Brazil I will be able to speak and interact naturally with people. Thanks Foster & Alexia!

Matt from ArvadaGreat PodcastThis is a great podcast for the intermediate/ advanced student of Brazilian Portuguese. Foster and Alexia bring enthusiasm to each episode. They cover interesting & useful subjects that are entirely in Portuguese. Foster is from the US and not a native speaker. He speaks excellent Portuguese for a non native with occasional mistakes. Alexia is a native speaker from Brazil, she always corrects the mistakes. This dynamic adds value and helps make learning accessible and fun. Highly recommended!

mholtgraveAbsolute best podcast to learn Portuguese âŠ... if you know the basics of the language. This being said, there really aren't many other apps or podcasts out there that will help you as much as Carioca Connection. It is a pleasure listening to and learn not only the language but also about the culture and history of Brazil. It never gets dull, they always cover interesting topics. Which is kind of important when you as a language learner have to listen to it over and over again ;-) I highly recommend buying the pdfs they offer on their website. If you are like me and have difficulties in the beginning understanding spoken Portuguese, the pdfs will help you tremendously connecting the visual with the spoken word in your brain. Another plus of this podcast is that it is entirely in Portuguese. As I said above, you need to know the basics of the language. But together with the pdfs you don't "waste" time on listening to the English translation and make your learning time much more efficient. I had a private teacher twice a week for over three years. While this certainly helped me to learn the basics of the language, the effect of this podcast in regards to my listening comprehension is incredible. Sure, you have to be dedicated and listen to the episodes over and over again, but you will notice after a while that you will be able to comprehend Portuguese much better. Thank you Alexia and Foster for putting together such a wonderful und useful podcast.

motomeninaThe Most Helpful Podcast for leveling up!these podcasts have been invaluable to me! With vocabulary and expressions you would never pick up anywhere else, if you are at a certain level of Portuguese but donât feel comfortable in a conversation these podcasts can take you to the next level! these incredibly sweet and genial hosts seem to always find an interesting topic and also pause when they think there is a term they need to explain a little further. I really cannot say how much I appreciate these podcasts!

BalcamanIâve fallen more in love with Brazilâs music, culture, + language through this podcast! đ§đ·âšâ€ïžđ»Iâve been listening to Carioca Connection for one and a half yearsâsince I began my Portuguese-learning journey, and I absolutely love listening to their podcast. My understanding of the spoken language has expanded through hearing their fun and interesting conversations. The best part is how listening to this podcast has played a role in how Iâve been able to deepen my relationships with my Brazilian friends here in the U.S. As a language teacher who comes from a bilingual upbringing, Iâve also appreciated Alexia and Fosterâs eye to linguistics and language acquisition. Iâve fallen more and more in love with the music, history, and culture of Brazil through their thorough and broad topics. I canât wait to keep training my ear to speak with the unique Carioca âsotaqueâ (my favorite accent from Brazilâthe Rio accent), and to keep opening my heart to more and more knowledge about the people and culture of Brasil through Carioca Connection. I hope they record a thousand more seasons ;) Muito obrigada Alexia e Foster đ» Tudo de bom para vocĂȘs!

Bronstein7Great podcast! Ătimo!I just discovered this fresh and super instructive Brazilian Portuguese podcast, and it's totally addictive. It's exactly what I've been looking for to learn real Portuguese, including all sorts of slang expressions and the little conversational fillers and cues that are part of normal conversations. It requires a reasonable foundation in the language and builds vocabulary and a sense of how it all really works almost immediately. The podcasts and worksheets are high quality and still improving; hosts Alexia and Foster provide a great look into how a Carioca and an advanced and improving non-native speaker relate to the language. The third season just finished. The mix of topics includes just about anything you can think of in daily life, from ordering in metric units in a supermarket to European Portuguese to Giselle's role in Brazilian life to unique Brazilian expressions to elections and much more. The episodes about Brazilian music, especially the ones with guest Renato, are worth the cost of the audio and transcripts by themselves. I speak three other languages and can say that for me this is one of the best language instructional programs around. It's a lot of fun!

Login902Happy UserThis is an excellent podcast for students of Portuguese. They have some interesting guests and they discuss many fascinating, relevant topics and themes. Thanks to this podcast, I have the confidence not only to practice Portuguese, I can also follow along with other podcasts that are targeted for native speakers.
-
MoltartwoGreat Portuguese resourceThis podcast is a great resource for practicing Portuguese! The conversations are at a good level for intermediate students, and they're not too long (sometimes I wish they were a little longer). Thank you, Alexia and Foster!

The Wife of BathAlexia, por favor fala um pouco mais devagar! This podcast would be completely awesome if Alexia took a little pity on those of us who are not entirely fluentâwho are listening to try to become more fluentâand slowed her speech down just a little bit. As it is, I can catch about 30-40 percent of what she's saying, but if she tapped the brakes now and then, it would help me much much more.
-
brazilianenglishlearner4827I canât stop listeningAmazing. The best way to improve my Portuguese and have fun with this two. Alexia and Foster are adorable. Worksheets that are available on the website made my life better cause I could understand everything that I needed. Carioca Connection â„ïžđđ»

CamazineGreat way to improve your PortugueseFoster and Alexia provide you with a wonderful combination of amusing and informative podcasts. For me, these bite-sized recordings are at just the right level in terms of the vocabulary and conversation speed. And these guys are charming, funny and interesting enough to enjoy listening to over and over again. And the transcripts (worksheets) are definitely worthwhile. Itâs nice to read along the second time around to see what you missed at first and to help with my written Portuguese. Nice work!

James Davis-FordEngaging topics with a bit of something for everyoneAs a brand new student to Brazilian Portuguese, I am excited to have the oppotunity to listen to such a well-produced, high quality podcast. Alexia and Foster are to be commended fo putting together content that is accessible to absolute beginners but has plenty of content for more advanced learners, as other reviews here attest to. The conversational content isn't contrived, and if something that's said is a bit too quick, or you want to see exactly how the sentence was constructed, you can easily obtain the transcripts. I look forward to getting further into the series. Muito obigrado, Alexia & Foster!

JCChazezFinally a language learning podcast that I can relate to!I've listened to a lot of different podcasts in an effort to improve my proficiency of Portuguese. This is the first one I've come across that discusses art, culture, and what it's like to be a young person living in Rio de Janeiro. The hosts (Foster, an American and Alexia, a Brazilian) are smart, witty, and oftentimes hilarious. They really feed off of each others personality and provide a unique perspective of Brazlian and US life. Couldn't recommend highly enough!

Ch@arlieGreat for all levelsI've tried many other language learning podcasts, but none are as fun or effective as Carioca Connection. The dialogue is so rich and lively you feel as though you're sitting and learning alongside hosts Foster and Alexia. If you're looking for something that takes a different approach, this is it.
