A teen girl was brutally taken by an immigrant gang member in a close neighborhood. Crime IS rising. We have serious deadly gangs growing here. You don’t understand. Edit regarding interview with Bernie sanders - Michael, why do sound annoyed by Bernie? It was very annoying to listen to your whining and the, “here we go”. Bernie is answering your questions and has never wavered on his position. What do you expect? — NYT does such a disservice to the conversation around unions and strikes. Where is the conversation around corporate profits?? Of course you talk about how the costs of these contracts will ultimately come at the cost of the consumer - but WHY will we be the people dealing with these increased costs? Because corporate greed will always persist. Can you please talk about the entire problem? It really puts unions and labor activists in a bad light - and they are NOT the problem.

I so want to like the Daily. I like that everyday there is a new podcast and that the production quality is top notch. But the recent episode “From Resistance to Reflection” … are you joking. How is this news? The New York Times just gave a bunch of whiny feminist a platform to complain about how devastated they are to not have the presidential election go their way. I get it … some people are disappointed by the presidential election outcome. Happens every 4 years. How is it news to listen to people groan about it for 25 min? I thought for sure there was no way the whole podcast was this whining. I was wrong.

I love The Daily and am a longtime loyal subscriber to The NY Times. It’s incredibly disappointing that you are locking prospective listeners out of breaking news beyond an episode or two unless they pay — this is so deeply NOT the time to do that. Please reconsider!

I love this podcast, but I have a request for The Sunday Read! I oftentimes find the voice of the writer more captivating than the voiceover talent hired to read the article. I find myself zoning out. Please consider having the writer read their story in their own voice! They use inflections as they intended it to be read. It would be so much better!

Need a better host! Tone, mannerisms and way of asking questions it quite annoying and comes across as biased or dislike of the guest! Otherwise great topics and guests.

I read with amusement the lunkheads who object to the truth about our felonious 47th president and his clown car of appointments. Thank you for presenting facts & insights, both left and right. It’s usually how I start my day. To those complaining about The Daily’s alleged slant, return to your NewsMax echo chamber where you can pretend the President-elect is & was the greatest leader ever or enjoy his lies. “They’re eating the pets.”

Great news podcast

I finally had an opportunity to listen to the 11/3 story of Aiden. Poignant, significant, masterfully told. This couldn’t have been an easy piece. Thank you for sharing the truth and devastating consequences of hatred.

To generalize that religious people are less educated than non-religious people is so arrogant. I am a Fulbright Scholar with an advanced degree…and I very much am a spiritual person. I am a Democrat with liberal values, but I must say this hubris is why the Democrats keep losing…..

The antagonistic and somewhat condescending approach with Bernie Sanders was a turn off. I’ve never heard Michael speak to a guest that way and can’t imagine him talking to other reporters (who are largely his guests) or say an Ezra Klein (who ponders a lot of these same ideas regarding the Democratic Party hemorrhaging working class voters) so disrespectfully. That said, in general I really appreciate this show and the quality of reporting.

Did the physician actually intend to imply that people who believe in God or are spiritual are less educated? It was quite a revealing comment.

Make it not just for older people with more kids episodes, try not to pick sides and stick to facts. But over all decent👌

I used to love this podcast, but over the past few months it’s become so incredibly biased to the very far left that it’s not even reporting the news anymore, it’s just storytelling everything in NYTs very far left liberal narrative. We get it, NYT is a liberal news source but come on try to at least try to pretend to report the news from a moderate POV.

I lean left but I don’t want to hear news with viewpoints slighted that way. I want fact based information. Sadly NYT is losing me as a listener as they seem to add fuel to an already burning inferno of hatred towards the right.

How can any news listener consider The Daily’s reporting to be objective when its reporters casually describe California’s Gavin Newsom as “the state’s popular governor?” His current favorability rating is 27% per The Hill aggregate

This podcast pretends to be middle of the road but is not. I note a bunch of exploratory questions that could be asked in almost every discussion, but are not. For example, no mention of corporate greed when discussing inflation and prices of groceries. Anyone mentioning shrinkflation? Anyone looking at media and some very well-off executives? Have fun with “no tax on tips” when your boss gets all your tips and no overtime pay for employees. How about asking that question.

On the 11/12 episode on abortion. The status quo under Roe was also paternalistic because it relied on a physician’s expertise/right to privacy and not an affirmative stance on women’s autonomy. Many women have known for generations that Roe was insufficient and bound to lose. Feminism - the Black Feminist Tradition, Reproductive Justice, Working Class and Industrial Feminism, indigenous feminism, Socialist Feminism aka not the bourgeois, individualism of Harris’ feminism - have all accounted for the integration of collective responsibility, collective freedom, and the right to abortion for all as a categorical not contingent right.

Dems search for answers…. its NOT racism or her being a woman. She was terrible!! Did it answer ANYTHING of substance, she was in charge of the border and screwed it up bigtime. While I’m admittedly a conservative in political and social values, I believe in at least trying to understand the “other side” so as not to get sucked into a political vacuum. I appreciate the tone of this podcast with honest and thoughtful dialogue on current issues without vulgar language or crass opinions. I’m a new listener but I hope to be a long-time listener.

I am so impressed with Nancy Pelosi. She clearly stated her views and did not let the interviewer push her around. The interviewer kept asking the same question over and over again. Nancy is a great leader for the country.

What's going on in the world today. A solid podcast doing lightly liberally skewed balance reporting, but with open eyes and a sober analysis. Speculative, skeptical when reporting isn't crystallized, and detailed, trustworthy reporting when they have all the facts and boxes checked. NY Times does about the best big tent news organization work you can fnd in this day and age.

Great job to help explain some of the big reasons for the outcome of the election. It was brutal and honest and needed to be said. Exploration of possible paths forward we’re good too. The whole panel was clear, lucid and seemed to be right on the money. (No small task at 1:45 a.m.)

Nancy Pelosi is wrong, I rebuke the Democrats and voted for Trump. Why didn’t you push her on her blatant lie that more people came over the border under Trump than Biden?

I’m a female subscriber listener and would really like to hear articles on basic (and I mean that as in it’s basic that you’re doing an article on how to date for a woman) topics from differing perspectives. Like how about women who are rejecting the idea of dating altogether. I don’t care to hear anymore about how easy or hard it is to date men in this world today. I don’t care about dating apps and whether they work or not. Please talk about other perspectives on dating, not just these boring two subjects.

Quickly realized through the course of this campaign that this group of people will create the story they want to tell. Listening to the podcast post election made this clear. I am not a republican voter but I hated to listen how scientific they tried to make the results. They are afraid to say the things.

Hosts of this podcast are fine. Topics not so. Used to listen regularly but not any more. May only listen once every 2 weeks, now. Have cancelled my digital subscription since the election. How your ageist editors treated President Biden after his bad debate showing was unforgivable. Stop navel gazing at all Democrat failures and look inside your own organization. NYT reporters, editors and producers need to look deep at themselves. Use the next 4 years. Goodbye.

Nancy Pelosi is insufferable. Did she really just say that border crossings were higher under Trump vs Biden? I listen to The Daily because I listen across both sides but I could do without the bias and fact-obfuscating generalities. They would do well to recognize that many of their listeners are on the center or center-right.

Thought the interview had some good questions. Stated off civil but became more argumentative with many interruptions. I thought Pelosi had to defend and deflect attacks by the lady interviewing her. I think the Daily podcast covers a wide variety of topics from different angles. The current overall atmosphere of our country tends to treat each other with less respect and is more argumentative. That is my overall opinion of this interview.

I’ve listened to The Daily for quite some time now. This election season has been a bit painful to listen to because the information is not offering a balance, in my opinion. Maggie H should be relabeled Maggie HATERman. Her disdain of Trump spews out in snide commentary and sarcasm. I would hate my job too, if my job was to forge relationships with people who are in the universe of the person whom you can’t stand. Do better.

This isn’t anything new but my god the post election coverage is so biased. The other candidate won, stop sowing division.

I would like to make what IMO would make a truly useful podcast that would actually make a difference in people’s lives! As oppossed to contributing to a massive amount of post- election neurosis. There is a Wallace/Tarantino interview in which T talks about playing with people’s emotions - scaring them - grossing them out. But you guys just are not stopping with the election thing. I have heard some of the most wondrful podcasts on the daily. I am a big fan of both Michael & Sabrina. But how about another topic in the very near future. Possible uplifting subjects could be something about dogs or cats. Perhaps a push for people to adopt a rescue which would in fact rescue them from thinking of the current political situation. Another topic could be the best comfort foods for getting through hard times. etc

As the Rupert Murdoch empire continues to kill journalism, I rely in part on the New York Times, the BBC, NPR, and others, to bring me unbiased news and in-depth news analysis. But how can you conduct a debrief of the 2024 election, as you did on 2024.11.06, without once mentioning the effect voter suppression had on the outcome?? The Roberts court gutted the Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act, across the South record numbers of polling stations were closed in Black and/or poor neighborhoods almost exclusively, in the past two years the M.A.G.A. wing of the G.O.P. assaulted and often colonized swing state election boards, in that span multiple onerous new restrictions on voting rights were instituted, and up until Election Day Eve reports confirmed swing state ballots were being thrown out at record, heretofore-unseen rates. Yet, somehow, it is so baked into your d.n.a. to uphold the myth of U.S. exceptionalism that you cannot bring yourselves to report on how increasingly unrepresentative of the national will our elections have become. I sincerely hope you and others survive the full-on attack on the First Amendment which the Koch/Trump cartel oligarchy will surely launch … and I bemoan that the insidious assault launched by the behemoths of capitalism against independent local journalism over the last three-and-a-half decades has basically succeeded in killing local presses… …but ye cats, you cannot continue sucking up to the corporate interests who benefit from this “U.S. exceptionalism“ myth, yet still succeed in reporting the truth: at some point, you need to choose the public interest over the genteel lie. Just frikkin’ say out loud, “the accelerating conservative attack on voting rights and on voter turnout is succeeding beyond their wildest dreams, and its impact on election outcomes cannot be denied,” and you will become part of the solution, rather than passive abettors of the problem! The truth is in the data, and it is staring us in the face. But to wake up the U.S. public to that truth in the data, it will take an act of journalism … and by the cuckoo’s beard, I hope one day you commit it!!

I proudly voted to Kamala Harris and would do it again. A great podcast as it pointed out that the Democratic party-namely Joe Biden missed the beat on the country. In 2016+ I was appalled at Trump’s policies only to see that this election many of the groups that his administration went after voted for him-with enthusiasm. He is their problem now. With the popular vote, electoral college, Senate and House he will have no one in his way but also no one to blame. I hope he makes the country stronger. I hope his policies help everyone.
