listener 9999Failure to mentionThere is a failure to mention that the Catholic Church, courts and police had financial agreements that led to massive cover ups of abuse in Australia.

Mia.11Outstanding and PoignantExcellent reporting and narration! This is what a true crime exposé podcast should be like. It is so well-researched and presented. I binged and finished the first season in one day! Thank you for a truly amazing podcast!

MamakirschA heart for justiceThis is the best execution of the genre I have experienced. Rachael and Ron lead with care and concern for the victim and her family. They remind listeners that this is more than entertainment it is people’s lives. I was moved on so many levels by this case and the storytelling.

Becca1959Brings me to tears!I've just heard the exciting news that there will be a new inquest into Maria James' murder. After I listened to Adam James give account of the abuse the priest performed on him, it just brought me to tears at the betrayal of a supposed 'man of God' against a child in a vulnerable situation! Even if the priest had nothing to do with the murder of Adam's mother (which seems highly unlikely) the abuse is truly evil!! This podcast is very well-done, and I listen on the edge of my seat at each episode! I'm anxiously awaiting the new series next year!! I really hope the James family is able to get answers on the murder of Maria with the new inquest! 🖤

Jack_McCoyProfessional and CompellingWay better than many American true crime podcasts, which are often full of themselves. This Australian show gets to the point in a professional, unpretentious fashion. Wish more crime shows were like this. Very well done.

CRC1981???Great podcast, well researched and produced, but totally anticlimactic. I get that it's a true story and they can't do anything about the ending, but the way it just sort of fizzled off was really disappointing.

MelEditsFascinating true crime podcastThis is a fascinating true crime podcast from Australia. It's a sad tale but one of mystery and twists and turns. Like the first season of Serial, part of it was created while being broadcast, so the final episodes have new information from listener tips and info. I really enjoyed the podcast delivery, production and reporter's style also.

KHarris1211Difficult content but riveting podcastI listened to all the episodes on a long drive and the time flew by! This podcast was very well made. They did a great job of showing compassion and kindness to the victims, honoring the life of Marie James, and demonstrating a relentless pursuit of justice.

C-EkemaExcellent.Well thought out, and beautifully put together. They did a wonderful job showing you the tragedy, giving you the information, but also explaining to you what the family went through. I loved getting to know her sons. Listening to their words broke my heart, and also amazed me- they have such resilient spirits. I long for justice for their mother. Thank you for telling her story.

MSSTYKWonderful production and investigation, unfortunate status quo perspective and approachIn what promises to be an unorthodox and fresh opportunity to investigate what are, at the very least, suspicious circumstances and activities surrounding this case, one finds more of the same status quo which nurtured such apparent misconduct which ran rampant in the recent past in the very first place. The host's decision to censor and worse, question one victim's brutal experiences- even though said experiences were indeed verified by one of the church's own investigators is offensive, insulting and indicative of old attitudes and approaches to important investigations. Whilst scrupulous reporting is absolutely valuable and necessary, censorship and disbelief of what happened at the hands of the Catholic Church is an incredible insult to said victim which, should be remembered, many victims have already needlessly endured only to be vindicated in court systems around the world. The least this reporter could do is provide an honest advocacy for victims of the church whose stories to this point seem to have great weight on this specific investigation and could indeed point to what actually happened to Maria. What could have been a fresh avenue is unfortunately yet another mainstream example of insulting disbelief with a tone of minimization which can only stand to hurt the chances of this case being looked at from new, perhaps more effective angles. To be fair, the actual investigating appears to be top notch, and the reporting leading up to the edge of very dark waters comes off as thorough and professional. The production values are absolutely solid. However, as is often the case in crimes with narratives that do not budge, the choice to shy away from the darkest and most harmful experiences- even going so far as to call their validity into question after official statements unequivocally verifying them as true- is, frankly, and injustice in and of itself. Unless I have utterly missed something here, I can't for the life of me understand why this reporter went on record to question this one victim's story which could well be an important character witness keystone in breaking the case, generating new leads and also shedding light on a very dark recent history within established religious organizations the world over. Really wish this one thing was handled with more scruples and perspective. Really wanted to root for this podcast!

Cold Traces podExcellent podcastThis podcast is very well produced and you can tell they put in a lot of work to get as many interviews as they have. I don't know how they tracked some of these people down! It's not easy covering these old cases, but they've really done a great job and I love how it's presented. I hope they can find answers for her sons. (Host of Cold Traces)
