frank1978Late to the party, but this is a great pod! Most Dylan pods are not my cup of meat but this one had me jumping queues and making haste to get to the next episode.
-
Atticus25Top 5 Best PodcastsI think this podcast is the gold standard for how a podcast should be presented. Impeccably researched, well produced, informative, educational, and insightful. I can’t imagine Bob Dylan being explained in a better way.
-
DylanNotDylanTons of infoGood radio voice, tons of really interesting info on the background of each album. He did his research!
-
johnwarrengExcellentI’ve been a Dylan fan since I was a teenager, and this podcast does a great job of breaking down his albums. Very thoughtful analysis and interesting explanations. Highly recommend for Dylan veterans and those new to his music.
-
The Real RiversStreets AheadHe makes a community reference on the Dylan (1973) episode. Pretty much the best Bob Dylan podcast
-
Ethan McGuire CollinsThe #1 Bob Dylan PodcastThe only Bob Dylan podcast of the many that exist which fits my taste.

As Far As You KnowBrilliant. Listening to the new albumHe’s awesome. If you like Dylan you will love him after a few podcasts. I can’t tell you how much I enjoy this podcast. I’m not a real big podcast person, but this is my favorite. I’ve learned so much about Bob Dylan from this podcast and also I’ve listen to a lot of albums. I never listen to before. I just kept playing my favorite 10 or 12 albums. if you haven’t given this a listen, you’re depriving yourself. The other person I like very very much is my friend, Christian, James Hand, who focuses only on the music and not the words of songs and is also extremely funny. But for Dylan there is nothing better. Better than Dylan being interviewed.
-
angry rigoRodrigoThank you for letting Bob speak for himself - for the most part.
-
ggghgxdAmazing podcastFabulous podcast. Tons of great analysis without over-interpretation. So well written and narrated. 10/10.

StephenitzDelectableThis podcast was recommended by my son who knows my passion for Dylan’s music (and shares it as much as a 31 year old can). I’ve listened to several albums, just finished the Blood on the Tracks podcasts. Ben Burrell knows his stuff, knows how to use clips from songs to support what he is explaining. I’m learning a lot, and over the years I’ve read a bunch of books on Dylan. Ben’s presentation, how he talks about the material…it’s very easy and pleasant to listen to.

zpicHighly recommendedA simple twist of fate brought me to this podcast From my first “another side of BD “ LP bought as a 10th grader living in Paris . I have had an off and on love affair with his music since 1964 I love this - fond memories of older tunes I listened too so much and later cassettes which I owned by didn’t play so much Even bought some of the CDs... Few can write a tune with lyrics that slay me Your knowledge and take is so interesting . We thank you so very much

jacojohnBenIt’s a little galling to have listened to Dylan albums as they came out in the 60’s, to have a guy in his 30’s explain to me what I’ve been listening to. But Ben is the best. I don’t know where he gets the depth of knowledge about something created 30 years before he was born, but he’s got the goods. Thanks Ben, keep it going, and thanks.
-
kevmac71I just found you!I've been listening to Dylan for over 40 years, and was pretty sure there was nothing i could learn about this artist. I was soooo wrong! This podcast is entertaining and informative and has offered me the tools to return to the albums with a renewed passion for Dylan and his work. He has become a friend and a Virgil through the work of Bob! Thank you!!!!!
-
LSDexitOzAmericaDotOrgLove thisI love Dylan and he was so Influential in my youth I love all your info and opinions Just makes me want to Listen to albums that I don’t know so well... I know the early days to Christian Era then not so much after.. Thank you so so much

Atlantis crooksGreat analysisIf you’re looking to do a deeper dive on Dylan, this is the place. You can tell her really loves the music and it’s full of goodies you can save and listen back to. Great work.
-
iMacMarqConstructive Dylan CastIf a fan of Dylan and in-depth analysis of each of his albums, this is for you. Also like how some songs get a “break down” analysis of composition and construction of song.

no way are all names takenPerhaps the epitome of why Dylan doesn’t like pressIf you know anything about Dylan listen to the episode of Infidels. I love that album but this host is way off. While Dylan sings, “Someone else is speakin' with my mouth, but I'm listening only to my heart…”, the host says Dylan is lamenting that his Christian albums weren’t really Dylan speaking; that someone else took over writing and singing his lyrics. Are you kidding me??? In fact Dylan is speaking directly about clowns like the host who think they are responsible experts for telling me what is in Dylan’s heart. Really the epitome of what Dylan is saying. That’s only one example but there are many in just that episode. The host is clearly anti Christian and full of himself. In other words from the UK; as he thinks he should tell Americans what to think about our politics and our leaders. Get over yourself whatever your name is.

Reece🦍Essential for Bob Dylan fansIn-Depth analyses of the material story that centers Dylan’s music-making with passionate looks at the contents themselves taking something of a backseat. Sort of a historical examination of Bob Dylan’s process that provides enormous insight into the music itself. If a fan of Dylan or of music history, this show is a MUST
-
leon ZumaNew to meNever liked some of his work and a lifetime fan and student of his work ... Thanks Ben for showing me the light on such records like “ oh mercy “ Your invisible now ... you got to many secrets
-
indiana zimmerman fanBob Dylan album by albumThe best you’ll find on Dylan on podcast. Absolutely love it. Hope he does Bringing it All back Home soon.
-
carlospq1979#Shallow review of the spiritual records. For Dylan’s spiritual focused records, he does a shallow look at songs that are deep and multidimensional. He comes through as the ‘ Ballad of a thin man’ character, that just don’t know what’s going on. You cannot explain art by just describing the techniques.
-
CDMatthewSmart, insightful analyses of Dylan’s albumsThis is a must-listen for any hardcore Dylanologist, and enjoyable, too, for casual fans. Podcaster Ben Burrell does a deep dive into each Dylan album....all of them, the good the bad and the ugly. Ben brings great intelligence, wit, good writing, and true love to his essays. I especially appreciate his ability weave in related historical, literary, and musical references that pertain to whichever album is under consideration. Definitely recommend for anyone who loves Bob, or wants to appreciate him more.
-
Jeff Heyck-WilliamsA fun overview of Dylan’s oeuvreTo paraphrase Robert Johnson, the stuff he’s got will bust your brains out. I don’t always agree with his taste (“Love and Theft” is every bit as strong as Modern Times), but he provides knowledgeable reviews and interpretations of Bob Dylan’s work.
-
howelldcAwesomeI am a HUGE Bob Dylan fan and I think he’s the greatest songwriter ever...any genre, any era...the BEST. Period. Musical Shakespeare. Love this podcast, guy does an excellent job breaking down each LP and analyzing lyrics & music...it’s also great that he plays snatches of the songs to illustrate his points; I listened to another Dylan podcast and that guy didn’t or couldn’t play Dylan’s music ... I have all Dylan’s stuff plus tons of ROIOs to enjoy...roll on, Bob! Plus I love the British accent! 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

obxcnGreat new seasonReally enjoy this new season. The analysis of the lyrics is spot on. The musical description is very informative also. The podcast brings new life to music I have been listening to my entire life. Keep the episodes coming.
-
DJSmooth3rdBaseExcellent PodcastI’ve been really enjoying this album by album review podcast. Extremely well researched and a treasure trove of new information (for me at least). Ben loves Dylan and it comes through in this really in depth look at the life and career of one of the greatest song writers in history.
-
Twang Of The ArrowShould be one star……for Ben injecting his annoying woke liberal political opinion into the discussion. Beep bop Ben, beep bop

Zachary MarionLove this podcastMost of the time Bob Dylan podcasts leave much to be desired in the way of dissecting Bob’s catalogue. Other shows have sort of left me standing in the doorway wanting more. I always thought that someday baby, I’d find the podcast that was right for me. Then, finally, things have changed. I finally found the Bob podcast I was waiting for. Ben is no false prophet. He does his research and teaches this lifelong Dylan fan new things with each episode. I’ll no longer be in a melancholy mood whilst scrolling through the podcast app. I’ve been saved and this podcast is to thank. I could go on forever about it, but I’ll leave it at this, Ben is a precious angel and all I really wanna do is listen to every episode.

Steve KimesAn Introduction to an Important Modern PoetClassic literature have introductions, giving an overview of each of their major works, the cultural background and pointing out significant details. That’s what is done here for Bob Dylan, one of our most significant audio poets. Like most introductions, it is best to experience the piece of art, listen to the episode, and then listen to it again. Great work.

dcrealIt’s a Bobcast!Love this podcast!

Adam CifuFrom the Church of DylanSome friends say I grew up in the church of Dylan so I am not a disinterested reviewer but wonderful combination of appreciation of the music and intelligent analysis. Thanks.
-
Blue State ConservativeFor Bob Dylan FanaticsThis is a great podcast for hardcore Dylan fans. He analyzes each song and album thoroughly, and makes me think about songs I’ve loved for decades in whole new ways. The only problem is that whenever he plays a short segment of a song, I want to hear the whole song again. I give it a strong A grade!
-
Ryan GravattFor Dylan enthusiastsA well-researched show that dives into albums and gives you the back story for each one. Great stuff.
-
Trust me I know stuffAll around greatIf you love music history or just the sounds behind Dylan’s music you’re sure to love these well put together podcast episodes. You get a well written script with a great voice to go with it. All I Really Wanna Do, is listen to more of these episodes
-
Ives AboucharDeep diving through a legendary discographyThe host is great, and even if you already love an album and think you’ve got every piece memorized, you might love and understand it even more. And albums you don’t think you like (looking at you, 1980’s)? Well, you might learn to appreciate those more as well. Great stuff!
-
the lowlandGreat showA must for Dylan fans, very well done and enjoyable. However he misses the mark about Street Legal , some of Dylan’s best songs.
-
jjadgemini88Niche comment!I need something strong to distract my mind, I’m gonna listen to this podcast till my ears get tired
-
TekelloggA must listen for all Dylan fans!A fantastic podcast -- Burrell has really done his homework. Insightful without being didactic, and able to give you some fresh thoughts on albums that you've been listening to for years! Very much worth your time.
-
TDog4494I’m hookedBen’s insights into the songs are always thought provoking. He’s inspired me to re-listen to a lot of these albums. If you’re a Dylan fan, you need to hear these shows. I’m only on Season 2 and I can’t wait to hear more.
-
Really?aNickname? One Thing Shy of PerfectBen Barrow’s insights, reviews, and historical perspectives make this podcast a musical joy. While I don’t agree with everything he says, I respect the passion and musical knowledge that comes with his opinions. My only wish is that he would let the entire track play out rather than aural snippets. That is the missing star. Lastly, not sure if it’s something with Apple and my settings, or with how the episodes are uploaded, but I selected play oldest first and after each episode it pushes the newest episode on me.
-
rommyusaThank youThis has been my companion through quarantine while taking long walks. Thanks, Ben, for a truly enjoyable podcast!!
