I have enjoyed Academy of Ideas media for years now. It’s a guarantee when these pop up in my feed, that I will be engaged thoroughly in their awesome and well thought out presentation, as always. Maybe embarrassingly, my phone is full of screenshots from each episode, and it’s always such a pleasure to see artwork that I’d never known existed featured with the presentation, not least because seeing truly beautiful (new) works of art is hard to come by as far as I can tell… and the quotes attached are pure gems! Maybe it’s just me and my love of philosophy, the psyche, and all things deep and dark…. But that’s the thing, life doesn’t have to be so dark if we could all learn to face reality as it is. That reality includes, most importantly, the understanding of who we truly are once all of the many layers of gunk (programming, indoctrination, etc) which are imposed upon us from birth, are dissolved away through intentional reflection…. and a little compassion for ourselves and those around us doesn’t hurt the process of seeing clearly. Even though I have a bent for this genre, I can’t imagine it being unhelpful to anyone else who would not ordinarily think to entertain themselves this way. A new episode popping up is one of those nice things to be thankful for in life as far as I’m concerned. There are so many options for entertainment, learning, or both in one (if you’re like me), and these guys are on the top of my list for greatness and super high enjoyability each time. The references, quotes, and especially the accompanying artwork is worth so much more time than they even ask for, ie. I’d love for longer episodes!! But I’m thankful for what I’ve got. This may be the wisest podcast (and YT channel) that I know. Topics are kept general but contemporary applications are easily realized, no matter what ideology the listener might have.

Unanswered and (at least as of yet) unanswerable questions, are noted, wisely..and any assertions are made without hubris, are well articulated, refreshingly direct and comprise a humble logic that is simple, precise and nearly unassailable. Presentations are made concerning crucial subjects that, far too often, are omitted from government funded curriculums with an all too obvious purpose. Absolutely wonderful show!

Some of the questions I asked in therapy were met with a very cynical reply from the therapist. I got my answer here. I feel validated. Please keep podcasting. Your insights are golden.

Great show. Between this and the Magnus Podcast, I’ve got hope for the future and ammo against the thought tyrants. Just diving on a friend’s recommendation, but definitely a page-turner of a podcast.

If you found this podcast, thank your lucky stars! I have yet to find philosophical material that is condensed and synthesized in a way that is accessible to both beginners and seasoned readers of the classics. I particularly enjoy how the host is able to break down the concepts and provide practical ways to insert them into one’s life, if it is right for them. I get so much from a mere ten or fifteen minutes, that I have to scratch my head and wonder what all these tenured professors are actually doing.

Thank you for taking your own free time to post these up. I hope the listening of knowledge inspires most like it does myself.

This is the only podcast/YouTube channel I never miss. I have learned more about psychology and the Human mind from these clips than any other single source.

Very effective storytelling, quick pacing, nothing extraneous. Just wish there was more.

Incredible wisdom that inspires thought and action. It’s is engaging and concise. We forget who we are as individuals in a society. This compels us to think outside of the stream we are traveling in, and asks us where/why/how we are even going . We need not merely exist. We can dream and act and see and know and fascinate and marvel and discover and create. We govern our own lives. Thank you for the much needed reminder!

I have been looking for a philosopy / psychology podcast like this for a long time. The topics are pertinent, the explanations concise, and the art images and quotes contrubute to explaining and explicating the ideas. Great job. Would be interested in seeing more. Perhaps something more contemporary and politiclal like the Frankfurt School, Foucault, Gramsci, Althusser, etc...

Great ideas spoken well: direct, unadorned and clear to those who can pay attention. Even when it’s a set of ideas contrary to my beliefs, the presentation is so clear that I can listen and evaluate them on their own terms. That type of presentation is often (nay, almost entirely lacking) these days. Thanks for the great podcast!
