Been listening to this podcast for years. If you’re a design nerd you gotta listen. I hope it never ever goes away. Also, I’d just like to use this outlet to show some love for Sarah. I really enjoy her energy and humor.

The best video game design podcast on the internet
The title says it all. Simply the best video game design podcast on the internet. And maybe the best kept secret, because this is what I’ve been searching for for years and I only just found out about it. Perfection.

    Pronoun Garbage
I love Spelunky. Once I saw there was a podcast about I had to try it out. I listend to the first 40 episodes and jumped around on the Into The Depths epidsodes. I loved it. Then they brought up their white cis male privilege. They have pronouns in their names now. I listened to it because it was about video games. Now its about white supremacy and genders. Thats a shame. Unsubscribed

    Best Video Game Podcast
I’ve listened to way too many video game podcasts and none are as joyful or insightful to me as Eggplant. Absolute critical listening for anyone interested in the art of making games

Unique view into the world of games in general with fantastic hosts
Such an interesting perspective on video games unavailable anywhere else. The hosts are warm and knowledgeable and have excellent taste which makes listening to the discussions around game development and design extremely engaging.

Great show about indie games with a lot of depth!
I like how they go deep in this show. Pretty much every episode is a deep dive into either a classic game or contemporary indie game. Often times they will have the devs on which is also a treat. I love that this is a show about game development and game design from game devs - it fosters interesting discussion and useful technical advice for others in the industry but also provides insights for those that aren’t in the industry.

    Great discussions and personalities
Came since it was the only Terry C. Interview I could find in light of the Dicey Dungeons switch port I recently bought, which then got me to revisit Zach’s games. Really enjoying the first three or so episodes I’ve checked out and can’t wait to go through the backlog!

    Choose a goddamn bleep sound
I like your conversations. But please stop choosing awful grating noises to censor swearing. The mixing is bad, the sound is too loud, and whatever you think is gained from using it Is wrong. Focus on what makes this a fun podcast. It’s not the swear sounds.

    Good Stuff
Insightful, interesting, and well edited. An excellent podcast for game developers and those interested in the mindset that goes into making games. They may love Spelunky a little too much though. :)

    The Best Deep Dive!
These aren’t your ordinary game developers; they’re some of the most forward-thinking people in that industry, talking about amazing games including but not limited to Spelunky. It’s a great way to spend an hour or two; you’ll learn about game design just as much as you’ll have fun!

Great podcast about game design and just games in general
The Spelunky Showlike is a great show where you’ll hear them discuss plenty of the nitty gritty details of game design as well as just video/board games in general. They have a lot of great guests and I always find myself listening to multiple episodes in a row. If you have any interest in game design/development, this show is a must-listen...

    Great Chemistry.
The Spelunky Showlike has it all - great guests, nuanced opinions and a real love for the topic. The hosts are able to tease out new ideas without falling into the familiar podcast tropes; It’s not too academic or jargon-filled, nor a giggle fest. I started listening despite having not played Spelunky (although that has since changed) - it’s just a solid discussion of game design that is very contemporary. It’s hard to think that there would be discussion at this level just a few years ago.

    They ask the right questions!
Love the showlike!! I think the hosts do a fantastic job every week of asking deep questions and getting the most out of their guests. I always walk away with a ton to think about!

A wonderfully thoughtful show for game design discussion
I’ve had a burgeoning interest in game design for years and have tried many podcasts in an attempt to satisfy my curiosity. Although there are many interview podcasts, there are surprisingly few panel discussion oriented shows on the topic. This one is the best I’ve listened to by far. Each of the hosts are thoughtful and intelligent in their own right. I also appreciate the fact that they are willing to challenge each other as well as their guests, ask hard questions and disagree respectfully. So many of these shows rarely allow for debate to occur so I truly appreciate this.

    Great guests, boring interviewers
I really want to like this podcast, but every time I try to listen to it, I give up about 30 minutes in. They have all the ingredients for an incredible podcast — great guests, interesting topics, lots of material — but the interviewers are totally boring. I actually really like all the interviewers separately, just not the four of them together. The hosts spend way too much time just talking amongst themselves and not asking the guest enough questions. Often the 4 hosts will all be trying to take the conversation in a different direction, making the conversation feel extremely scattered. Then, they try to tie literally everything back to the game Spelunky, which feels extremely forced. I know I shouldn’t complain about “too much Spelunky” and a show called “the Spelunky show”, I just really wish they weren’t so myopically focused on that one game.

I don’t even play Spelunky and I love this podcast
Look, I’m terrible at platformers, but I love roguelikes and lites. This podcast has tons of great developer interviews and design discussions, which as a dev, I love. Can’t recommend it enough!

    Intriguing & entertaining discussion
This podcast always leaves me excited to play new games, not just Spelunky 2 nor just video games. The 4 hosts are all extremely intelligent and well versed in game design. They each have unique perspectives that blend together well for really interesting discussion and insights into games. They are also crazy well connected and if you're into the indie/rogeulike genre, creators of your favorite game are likely to end up on this podcast if they haven't already.

    Fun podcast!
A fun podcast that delves deep not only into the design of Spelunky but other rogue-likes/lites that's not only entertaining but informative! Glad I stumbled upon this while looking for new game podcasts for my commute.

Spelunky fandom and so much more!
Nick Suttner and his impressive buddies from academia and the gamedev world interview luminaries in their fields and geek out on Spelunky together. What could be better? Such a good show and a one stop shop for what’s happening in the indie scene. Thanks to you guys for the fun and informative biweekly listen! Spelunky 2 in 201...9 am I right??

Would never have thought I wanted this
I love Spelunky. One of my absolute favorite games of all time. If you were to pitch me the idea of a Spelunky podcast though, I would have thought meh, maybe good for a few episodes... But boy does The Spelunky Showlike have staying power. Spelunky is the framework and launching off point, while fantastic discussions on game design with great guests are the warm and cozy home...that is built...off of that frame (metaphors are hard). Anyways, what I am saying is it's great. I hope the show outlives and continues to expand beyond Spelunky/rougelikes as it has already done because this is the podcast about games I was yearning for!

An amazing podcast about more than just Spelunky
As much as I love Spelunky, I find myself loving the episodes about related games and topics an equal amount. A great podcast for anyone who wants to listen to smart people passionately and joyfully talk about their favorite topics in games.

    The walls are shifting...
The Showlike brought me back to the game, and I’m playing at a higher level than ever before from listening to a podcast! Great guests, insights, strategies, humor, and true passion for the crowning achievement of this genre really make this podcast shine. Everyone should get in on the (biweekly) daily and share your stories!!
