I’m beginning my screenwriting career so find the different parts that go into making a movie interesting. I worked with Skid as an extra and he was totally cool and a great person to us extras.

Movies has been my love since I was a little girl. This podcast give amazing insight to the production world of how movies are made and the people behind them. Great insight from Skid and great interviews with the production crews that make them happen. Bravo!

Found this show on a Facebook podcast group. Robert Skidmore commented on my post and recommended I give it a listen, and I love it! As an up and coming filmmaker myself, I love learning about the insights and behind the scenes tidbits from these bigger film productions. Skid is a great host and listener, and his guests are always super intriguing. These episodes are so important for someone like me who is just starting out in the indie film industry, and I’ll definitely be tuning in in the future. The Prestige episode and COVID-19 Production Shutdown episode were so good. Who would’ve thought that Hugh Jackman likes to give out lottery tickets to the entire cast & crew every week? I’m sorry to say but this is my first time hearing this podcast and I’m kicking myself now for Not tuning in Much Much Earlier! So glad I can go back and listen to back episodes. I e already downloaded a bunch. An awesome relaxed yet too the point podcast that’s got great interviews with people who have been in the trenches. Excellently Done. -Brent

A great, accessible behind-the scenes perspective on the nuts and bolts of film-making from those in the trenches. Skid brings a warmth, intelligence, and an insider’s knowledge that make him a great audio host. Whether a highly recognized film, or something more obscure, there is always something unexpected learned. Quite liked the episode on military veterans working in cinema!

This podcast is unlike any other film podcast bc it is about the film crew - the men and women behind the scenes who are the guts of making the movie or TV show. There are many podcasts about the typical folks who get the credit and deservedly so but the insights on here about the making of movies are unique and uncanny stories that will surprise and enlighten all film and TV fans.

I’ll admit, I’m a bit biased as I’ve been a guest on the show, but even if I hadn’t been, I’d still be a subscriber. This is one of the most unique and insightful podcasts on filmmaking you can find. The host, a former Assistant Director himself, asks interesting questions due to his inside knowledge and understanding of how a set works. The guests are a wide-variety of (usually) below the line crew and offer a unique, funny, candid and rarely heard viewpoint on the making of some of your favorite films and television shows. Everybody talks to directors and actors. Some talk to producers or DP’s. On this show you’ll hear from Assistant Directors. P.A.’s. Property Masters. Set Decorators. These are the people that make the films run smoothly. That make the world you see on screen seem real and lived-in. So queue one up and give it a listen. It’s a must for any cinephile, fan of television... or even if you’re just curious to hear about how the process works from the inside out.

I would call myself a casual movie fan. I find this podcast fun and enjoyable -- it is really neat to hear stories from the different perspectives of the many crew members involved in the making of a film or TV series. I can see how it would appeal to serious film fans too. The podcast really shows how filmmaking is a love of craft for so many people working behind the scenes. It always provides an insightful mix of professional expertise and anecdotes about the stars and other personalities on set. My favorite episode so far is the one about Law & Order. I loved all the stories from the show's heyday, by which I mean the era of Detectives Briscoe and Green. To review Below the Line by paraphrasing L&O: Every set has a crew. These are their stories! :-)

Both seasons of podcasts are spectacular! It is enlightening to hear what the individuals who have worked with the shows have shared. I am watching new movies from a different perspective. Thanks!

This PODCAST is always fun to listen to, getting the inside behind the scenes perspective on filmmaking! If your a filmmaker or curious about getting into the business, this will give you a good insight!

A fun look at filmmaking from the crew’s perspective. I’m looking forward to hearing what’s next.

Below the Line takes you behind the scenes of the blockbusters you know and those that were clearly more fun to make than to watch. You will hear stories about the less glamorous side of movies including the many colorful, interesting, and absurd moments the crew experiences when making a movie. It clearly takes patient personalities and a true dedication to the art form and a slightly warped sense of humor to make them happen. Robert is an excellent, insightful, and professional interviewer and you will learn what so many of those behind the scenes must go through to deliver what the rest of us eventually see on the big screen in a couple of hours. It’s especially educational for young film makers, super-fans, and techo-wonks — you know who you are, you who stay for the credits. Take a listen, you will enjoy it!
