Sher woodđ€đŒHey fellas! Just wanted to thank you for another great season of content and insights. I even enjoy when you go off the rails and talk about your own personal experiences, hockey clubs and what not. Iâve been trolling Darren during post home games whenever I see him, making a âcrack the whipâ sound effect you guys use for your show đ€Ł Keep up the great work and one of these days Iâll stop and say hi when Iâm not running team gear back and forth! Cheers boys and stick taps for Andy!

Andy in TucsonNew Fan in TucsonLast year, my girlfriend of 26 years, the Arizona Coyotes, packed up and moved to Utah. About a month into the season, I decided Iâd become a Kraken fan. Your excellent podcast has helped me develop a much deeper understanding of the team, including its current roster and prospect pool. Iâm a devoted listener, and you all help make me a more informed fan. But I still root for Tucson when Coachella Valley comes to town. Thank you for the great show!

Phil C from SeaGreat podcast! With some feedbackAmazing podcast for keeping up with the Seattle Kraken, banters good, interviews are great, and guests are super fun! My feedback is when it comes to NHL news outside the kraken the guys sometimes make the assumption we all follow the NHL very closely. On the recent ep with Allison I was so grateful she was there because during the discourse around the massive Canucks trade the guys didnât want to talk too much about it because âeveryone had already talked about itâ but you guys are my primary NHL news source! I listen because I want YOUR take on the situation and what it means for the Kraken. Again, love the podcast, listen to every ep, keep it up!

WritingtigerOutstanding Kraken podcast, butâŠThe Sound of Hockey crew puts together the highest-quality Kraken podcast out there and I look forward to hearing their hockey analysis and news every week. Iâve learned so much about hockey from listening to these folks. I have one piece of constructive criticism for them: they can take too long to get into the hockey part of the hockey podcast. This last episode was about the Philipp Grubauer waiver⊠the biggest transactional news of the season for the Kraken. It took nine minutes of casual conversation among the group before they got to talking about it. Shame. Shame. Shame. Thatâs 16% of the podcast time⊠making us wait for what we all wanted to hear right away. Love the podcast. Love the guys. And itâs only MY opinion⊠but letâs get to hockey quicker.

BigTurbo08Best Kraken PodI canât thank this podcast enough for helping grow the collective excitement for hockey in the PNW. The banter between the three hosts is truly a delight and I love the segments, especially âdown in the farmâ and âweekly one-timersâ. Being from the south sound, I havenât felt this connected to a hockey team since the Tacoma Sabercats, who played in the Tacoma Dome and were unfortunately folded in 2002 (RIP). Again, thanks for all of the laughs, information, and passion. Always looking forward to the next episode! Stick taps for Andy.

TerribleLotusGreat Podcast!I am new to watching hockey (and yes, I have already been told that as a newbie I shouldnât have an opinion). Society has always cast women into the role of gossip-monger. Perhaps, though the sports world is the real gossip-mongers. It seems to be built on money, gossip, rumors, and speculation. One thing I appreciate and value about this podcast is that you acknowledge that ânewsâ is frequently speculation. Also, I learn a lot here, so thanks.

ChadisanafricanationThe Miles Davis of Hockey PodcastsSeattle sports radio coverage of hockey has left fans wanting for years . Then came Sound of Hockey. Being a listener from day one, I have enjoyed watching the development of professional hockey here in the PNW; and along with it, seeing the showâs heart in itâs growth, the tragedy of losing Andy, and journey to carry on strong. As a fellow midwesterner-transplant in Seattle, itâs nice to listen to expert analysis, great interviews, and witty banter about the sport I love. I enjoy the variety of the different segments, and the very appropriate chirping of guests on the show that canât nail the one timer SFX. However, the Down on the Farm noisemaker kills me every time. However, all of that pales in comparison to the marquee segment of the show. The fan favorite Goalie gear corner works amazingly well for âradio.â Itâs like having a thousand vibrant pictures in your ear. In a world of dime a dozen, mass produced hockey podcasts, Darren welds the metaphorical audio paintbrush like a goaltenderâs Vincent Van Gogh. When you are covering a sport like hockey and goaltending is a sport within a sport, I donât know many other podcasts have an actual goalie on the roster that brings professional perspective into the showâs content. For anyone not local, these guys are the real deal. On the ice, itâs been fun to play with, John Barr. I have yet to play in opposing net from Darren, but we should make that happen. As a matter of factâŠhave we thought about a Sound of Hockey Andy Eide Memorial Game? Have some listeners on the ice and in the stands and fundraise for a charity that would be near and dear to Andy. Would be another fun community event like S.O.H. Fest. Keep up the great work, and cut Chris-Curtis a break once in a while. And let him drive the Zamboni for the Sound of Hockey WHL team. Stick taps for Andy

ArnB65Krakalakin podAppreciate the excellent source of Seattle hockey over here in Montana. Fan of the early 70âs Totems and late 70âs Breakers. Tim Hunter #3 tough guy defense. Thatâs a deep cut for Andy. Stick taps. Oh, and Eberly kicked that in.

vdocktorGreat hockey conversation!Adding on to previous review. I am one of the 2 Docktors (thanks for spelling it correctly on the pod) that got called at the SOH Fest. I am sorry to have missed Letâs Get Quizzical but gratified to learn I didnât miss out on a super cool prize. My daughter was abruptly moving across the country early the next morning and we were going to dinner to celebrate. Sound of Hockey Fest was wonderful! Good to be with other folks who are excited about hockey. It was nice to meet all of you. Thanks for such a great podcast! You answered my question in the mailbag (MomEunice on the Twitter) so the least I can do is give you a five star review! I listen to a LOT of hockey podcasts and SOH is my favorite. I love the conversational style of all the posts and of course the Twitter intern is đ„You both engage with folks and it just feels like an ongoing conversation. Looking forward to seeing yâall at a game so I can get a selfie! Stick taps for Andy

IrishFan23Best Hockey Podcast There is Period!Love everything about Sound of Hockey. The personalities, the hockey talk and of course, Goalie Corner. We live in San Diego and there is nothing like driving to the rink, or to a tournament, and listening to the latest musings of our guys who are the best in the business of not only giving great informational and happenings around the Kraken and the hockey world, but also adding the humor and fun along with it. I have been listening for a few years now and a quick story to help sun it all up. My mother passed away in Arizona in 2020 and on the drive to and from to see my father I listened to every podcast from the start of its beginning to where I currently was. In a time of sorrow it really helped put a smile on my face and made a long 12 hours in the car go by quick. I will forever be grateful for this podcast and will continue to be an avid listener. I grew up in the Seattle area, played some professional baseball and have been in Southern California for over 30 years now, but you bring a little bit of home to me every week. Stick taps for Andy and keep up the good work boys. Go Kraken!

okayfinesureA+ PodLong-time listener who is finally leaving a review! As a newer hockey fan, I appreciate all of the insights provided. As a podcast fan, I love the dynamic between Darren, John, and Curtis. Primarily leaving this review to say at the end of the the last episode (295) there was a huge missed opportunity for Darren to sing âLife Is a Highwayâ Stick taps for Andy đŠâ€ïž

ImTheChachFantastic Hockey PodcastOutrageously good podcast, especially for three guys with day jobs. Great listen for both Kraken specific content and league (or world) wide hockey news and commentary. Appealing for rookies, long time players/fans, data nerds, and even fashionistas, so long as your favorite design houses are Brian and True. Special shoutout to Clair de Lune playing in the background of the David Goyette interview. Gave the whole segment a really classy feel! Looking forward to some Tchaikovsky behind a Burakovsky interview, or maybe some Chopin during a chat with Dumoulin. Also Darren, as a fellow victim of crow harassment, know that the silent majority stands behind you. Keep fighting the good fight. Stick taps for Andy.

jeff in PittIâm a fan from PittsburghPittsburgh based Seattle sports fan. Started to listen to the pod after Darrenâs appearances on Mitch Unfiltered. I supported Curtis name change to Chris. Only one Curtis allowed in the Kraken media. Great discussions, great sound effects, great show and great intern. Absolutely perfect for all Kraken fans to follow. I do have a business question, if the NBA expands to Seattle and assuming the ownership group being the same, how will the front office coordinate with the NBA arm? Could you see Tod overseeing both teams? What would be an ideal timeframe for the Sonics to start from a Kraken perspective? Thanks Jeff

KrakenFan50Entertaining, insightful hockey podcastLove your pod and wanted to give a special, singing review for Darren to tackle! Meant to be sung to the tune of âPrince Aliâ from Aladdin. Hope you enjoy! Hey, turn it on when youâre in the car Hey, listen in while you travel far Oh come, be the first on your block to hear this pod Leave a five star review And theyâll read it for you Youâre gonna love this pod Sound Of Hockey wonderful pod yes, you should listen They get five stars because they really are a great hockey pod Theyâve got lots of league wide news X of the Week and Bad Boys too But where they really shine is when they dig in and get Kraken specific Sound Of Hockey introduced me to Goalie Gear Corner Something I first thought only goalie nerds would love But Darrenâs enjoyment, his childlike enthusiasm Made me look anew at all the goalie gear Including blockers, pads, and goalie gloves Sound of Hockey wonderful pod you know you should listen You couldnât ask for better hockey podcasters Stick taps for Andy. Enjoy Jon and Curtis Isaake. And Darren Fun Brown, trying to keep them all on track unless theyâve had some college sodas Sound Of Hockey five star review from Krakenfan50 50 years old when she first left your pod a review Thanks for informing all of us and letting us join in the fun Look forward to more pods Thank you for the time and all your effort (Past review) Sound of Hockey has been a âmust listenâ since I discovered it before the Expansion Draft. I really appreciate all the hockey insight, as well as the humorous banter between Darren, Andy and John. The segments are entertaining - especially Goalie Gear Corner, which has given me a newfound appreciation for goalie equipment! (I know John and Andy will love this part of the review!) Thanks for all your hard work and for putting out a thoroughly enjoyable podcast!

oh ya wordBy far the best Kraken hockey podIâve been an every episode listener of the sound of hockey for over a year now - it is my favorite listen every week in terms of podcasts. I get excited every time I get a notification that a new episode drops. Theyâre professional, funny, and knowledgeable and itâs just a great listen for any kraken fan! That being said, almost had to downgrade to a 4-star review after this last episode for lack of regional awareness đł. During the portion of the pod in which they discuss the âWhat a pro wants commercialâ they failed to notice that one of the stars of the commercial was Chet Holmgren⊠Gonzaga Basketball (and therefore Washington) collegiate basketball legend. Iâll let it slide this time though. Go zags and go krak and keep up the good work!

The Chad was Here.Your WAY down on the farm updateThe Sound of Hockey podcast is certainly very high on my list of favorite podcasts. The guys are Seattle Kraken focused but still reach out to any and all NHL teams. As well as diving into AHL, WHL, and other leagues that might have interesting news. As the very unofficial Sound of Hockey representative for the ECHL and mascots, I will say that they lack just a little bit on the ECHL. So letâs go WAY down on the sometimes forgotten farm. The Kansas City Mavericks are the ECHL affiliate of the Seattle Kraken. They play in the mountain division that has 2 of the top five teams in the entire league(28 teams). One of them being relatively close to Seattle with the Idaho Steelheads. And while Idaho is a very good team, no one is stacking up to the Kraken affiliate Kansas City Mavericks this season. They are the winners of the Brabham Cup for best record in the ECHL this season (54-12). Locking in a playoff slot two months ago. Highlights include holding the new ECHL record for road wins in one season(29) and having three different goalies with at least 16 wins this season, amongst several other attributes. Time will tell if the curse of the Brabham Cup will continue or if the Mavericks will take home the notorious Kelly Cup. But the future definitely looks bright for the Mavericks moving forward. So bright that the Seattle Kraken have just renewed their affiliation for the next two seasons. While my team, the Rapid City Rush, just missed the playoffs, I will give a polite golf clap to the Mavericks for a fantastic regular season. But in news from the Rapid City Rush is Keanu Yamamoto. Finishing his second season with the Rush with 19 goals and 29 assists. His name should be familiar as he is the brother of Seattle Krakenâs Kailer Yamamoto. Hopefully there will be more updates on a variety leagues from the pod moving forward. Until then, stick taps for Andy.

The jewels13Stick tapsThese guys are just great. Genuinely my favorite podcast across all genres and my first listen when a new episode drops in my feed. Thanks for all you do to grow hockey fandom and knowledge in the Seattle area. Stick taps for Andy.

GAJ SEAThe True Captains Kraken đŠđWith Google Podcastsâ review-less platform no more, Iâve had yet to give 5 stars to my favorite hockey podcast since NHLtoSeattle became a reality! The gents blend informative updates, great guests, witty banter, and belting beats to provide the best overview of Kraken/NHL happenings. Wish Year 3 worked out better on the ice but looking forward to further SOH coverage and events. Do you guys think the Twitter intern could handle Toby Keithâs âBeer For My Horsesâ for a future outro? Asking as a fellow karaoke fiend and college soda imbiber (especially after 8 game losing streaks). Stick taps for Andy đ

Danakin CliffwalkerA Fun and Inclusive Fan Level Hockey PodcastWhen a new episode of the Sound of Hockey podcast drops, it immediately goes to the top of my queue. The hosts are informed and impassioned but never allow the podcast to lose its easy going nature, which is much needed when listening to the show during my work day. As an out of town Kraken fan, the show keeps me connected to the Kraken and a city I love to visit through honest takes on the team, humor and positivity. Iâm very thankful to have found the Sound of Hockey podcast! -Dan in Cleveland, OH

Tzshaw29Still the best Kraken hockey podcastThis is is a re-review. I gave you 5 stars in 2021 and youâre still a top tier, 5 star podcast. I wanted to give you guys more atta boys for the great content but also had a question. I jumped into the world of hockey when the team was announced and so this question may be somewhat silly. My question is, with Rehkopf and Firkus both dominating in both of their leagues, would it be safe to assume they will be playing, at minimum, with the Firebirds next year? Maybe even with the Kraken? I know theyâre both young and maybe undersized but I just wouldnât think they do another season in their current leagues or anything lower than AHL next season. Just wanted to hear what you guys think. Again I love this show, Iâve run into Jon a few times and heâs great, Andy was so amazing. Darren cracks me up, if I ever bump into you I have a funny story for you. Curtis is solid, Iâm glad heâs been added, the âburyâ episode was too funny. Stick taps Andy! -Tyler-

Sass berry tea#stopyourvesselI started listening to this podcast to support my favorite STH Jon but went back and listened to episodes from the last three seasons because I love you guys so much! Highlight of my week is getting to gossip with Jon during the games usher for him and hearing about upcoming episodes!

Frozen SeamanBest podcast! My favorite crow-related podcast. The only way to keep up to date with the world of crows!

ReGrippedThis Podcast Will Make You A Kraken FanI am longtime fan of hockey but admittedly did not know much about the Seattle Kraken. I decided to subscribe to the podcast and immediately became a fan of the team due to the passion, insight and humor that the hosts provide show after show. If you want to know what is going on with the team from an informed fanâs perspective this is the one to listen to. The also have one of the best logos in the podcast game and great audio that is not undermixed, both of which enhances the overall quality of the listening experience. Since the hosts read most of these reviews in real time, I need to make a request for a teal shirt with that logo and some crows circling the Space Needle. If you listen to the pod you know itâs crow season and hopefully it will be the Krakenâs year this year. Whatever the outcome, I will definitely keep being a fan of this pod!

Sounders-<3-SquidsUpdated review - still 5 stars! The best Kraken podcast in the game <3About a year and half ago, I sent in a review after I had just started listening to the podcast, and I mentioned going through a ridiculous amount of older episodes in a short time and also complained about the profanity horn scaring me while driving lol. I wanted to send an updated review specifically to share my appreciation for the new live outro music, which has been absolutely hilarious (more musical theater!!), so at the same time Iâll say thank you for the new horn as well! A listener/customer service! Iâm also the same person as the geophysics PhD student on Twitter, and Iâll hopefully be graduating later this year. My roommate joked that I should add you all/the podcast to my dissertation acknowledgements to thank you for helping me get through the degree by keeping me company while I write terrible codeâŠand I think Iâm actually going to do it! If thatâs not a five star review I donât know what is lol. Finally, like to advocate for another Yamamoto goal Tweet catchphrase: âWham bam thank you Yam!â Credit to Reddit user /u/Crazy_King_Bumi from the /r/SeattleKraken community, who I believe originated this in the preseason this year! Thank you so much for always being a bright spot in my week! Stick taps for Andy! âââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââââ Original review from summer 2022: Iâve never been a podcast person, but over the last few weeks I was needing something different to listen to at work and found this podcast suggested on the Kraken subreddit. I started with episode 153 from last year and Iâm sad about how quickly I caught up! I donât live in Seattle currently and no one I know in person is a Kraken fan or wants to hear me talk about them a lot, so itâs been fun to hear some of the things Iâve thought about over the last year be discussed on the pod, learn a lot more about hockey in the PNW and across the NHL, and also just generally be able to share the excitement with other real people (not anonymous Reddit folks) even if I donât actually know you haha. My only nitpick is that Iâve started hesitating to listen to episodes on my commute because the occasional bleeped curse words scare the *honk* out of me on the road lol. Canât wait for the new season to start and keep up the great work!

fwidlg rhCome for the content, stay for the outrosI discovered the Sound of Hockey podcast last year during the Krakenâs playoff run. I found myself with an insatiable need for Kraken content to channel my excitement and boy did the Sound of Hockey deliver between the podcast, Twitter feed and excellent articles on the website. As a new hockey fan, I found my hockey IQ growing exponentially as I consumed SOH content, with the unexpected but delightful benefit of being able to drop tidbits and insights on my also new-to-Hockey husband, showing him up with my knowledge regularly. (Alas, he has since also discovered SOH, which is wonderful but has greatly diminished my powers.) I credit SOH for my love growing beyond the Kraken to hockey as a sport, and have begun following the Firebirds and our local WHL teams too (go Tips!). I also have a sudden awareness of and interest in goalie gear (thank you Darren). Overall, Sound of Hockey is as fun as it is informative (for proof, just listen to the Hamilton outro from the last episode. Pure delight.)

Katie Kraken FanThe Best Kraken podcastCome for the great hockey content, stay for the laughs (Iâm seriously laughing out loud while walking my dog, in the best way possible). I started listening regularly about a year ago and look forward to each new episode. Fun segments, great banter, and awesome interviews. If you arenât part of their Patreon, you are missing out, especially their monthly mailbag podcast. Iâve started listening to their older podcasts and loving those too (talking future Kraken Tatar in episode 2 and Yamamoto in episode 3, origins of goalie gear corner, Grittyâs voice, etc.) Loved seeing John figured on the newest âBeneath the Surfaceâ and to think of how far weâve come. #sticktapsforandy
-
*b*r*a*dExcellent hockey podcastStick taps for Andy. Love this podcast, learn a lot about the world of hockey beyond the Kraken. Wish I had started listening at the beginning of the first season. Excellent team coverage, love the guest interviews and segments, especially the sound effects. Not sure about the whenever wager, but overall look forward to every episode. Thanks guys.

TKHOGOâŠ..KHey guys, Iâm the one in your first year who put âOâ in the review title and âKâ in the body of the rating when you challenged listeners to âthe shortest review â. Iâve listened to every SoH episode since November 2018 when it was announced that a team was coming to Seattle. I was super excited when my distant cousin Karson was playing part of the Krakenâs first season! I started watching the Minnesota NORTH STARS back in the 1980âs and got back into the NHL in 2008 with the BLUES. The episode with SHIFTY was AWESOME!! Actually I canât think of any episode that wasnât good. Keep up the great work, Godspeed Andy. Ps Darren, get the PUPPY!!!! Todd Kuhlman

Yanniâs Suffocating Pestilence[UPDATED DEC 22!] Entertaining Informative[UPDATED DEC 22!] Loved the player bingo episode, tons of fun. Question for the team: as a newish hockey fan, I would love to understand the âstructureâ of hockey more. I heard a ton about the Kings 1-3-1 setup and how that prevents a lot of zone entries - I imagine thatâs one example. I purchased Jack Hanâs âHockey Tacticsâ which outlines the tactics each NHL team uses, but it didnât help much - i think itâs too advanced. Would love to hear more about the Krakenâs "structure"/tactics/strategies, with as much detail as you guys can muster. Perhaps some video breakdowns over in the members section? Alternatively, how could one learn more about this?
-
KloppyJDeliciousWhen Iâm thirsty I look to grab a delicious New Glarus Spotted Cow. Quite possibly the best craft beer in the nation, and easily the best farmhouse ale Iâve ever had. Nearly Naked is just as good but only available seasonally. Since they only sell their beer in Wisconsin, it makes it difficult to enjoy in the Seattle area. Ding Dong, The podcast is good.
-
Fighting SaintLove the PodIn addition to great Kraken hockey analysis, there are enough random Minnesota hockey comments to make this Minnesota-transplant feel at home in Seattle.
-
FnordishLate to the party but loving it hereFun show focused on and around the Seattle Kraken. Episode 262 just about made me deducted a star with talk of no Minnesota team till 2000 right next to Hartford Whalers comments. That did get me off the sidelines to get a review in, so I guess a well played is in order.
-
BearsfullnessSOH loveI was a bit of a podcast hater before listening to sound of hockey but now I need it for all my bus rides. I love when you go off the rails and love listening to old episodes from before I followed the kraken. Sound of hockey feels like a warm hug and is a great way for me to stay connected to the kraken especially when I am away at college on the east coast. If I had one request, I miss when an episode-relevant song would play out the show. Thank you for my favorite podcast and stick taps to Andy always.

pncamSound the Alarm?Fresh off the game with Calgary, I was ruminating on what I saw happening on the ice. I joked with John in the common area that they were struggling, keeping the puck on the sticks because they mustâve bought the cheap Kmart tape, but really the past few games thereâs been very little continuity in the Kraken play. There doesnât seem to be any line that is truly working well together. Give credit to the guys for playing hard, but individual effort is only providing moderate success. When theyâre in the right place, and there is some fantastic play, but they are mostly looking like theyâre just trying to keep the puck. The defense has been pretty good and I think Oleksiak is looking the best since he started with the team. So now you have to ask yourself, is it the coaching and the system that the players are having a hard time with? Is it time to sound the alarm? While we are only two wins and two losses differential from last year, it looks a lot like the first year Kraken when they were all new. it will be interesting over the next couple of games to see how they react to yesterdayâs loss. Keep up the good work. Your podcast is a great companion when I travel. PC

DSTUUUBad Boys? More Like Good BoysDown On The Farm SOUND the alarm! Weekly One Timer What a hockey news primer! Goalie Gear Corner Itâs âCold As Iceâ (shout out to Foreigner) Listening in to Darren, John, and Curtis Major Kraken news? Oh, theyâll alert us No doubt, this is the best Kraken pod For all the news on your fave hockey squad Loads of hockey knowledge and silliness For a hockey town full of hilliness If youâre not tuning in, whatâs your deal? This pod is so good itâs honestly unreal Alright alright, whatâs there left to say? Other than âThatâs Kraken Hockey, Baybay!â P.S. Stick taps for Andy Iâll always be a FANdy
-
Kp49akMore farm talkYouâre my favorite podcast, but I would enjoy if Down On The Farm was a weekly segment with more Firebirds updates. What was the Firebirds record last week? Did Shane Wright or Ryker Evans score? Is Cale Fleury or Chris Dreidger playing like guys who are too good for the minors? Even if itâs just 60 seconds an episode I think thereâs enough content that fans would enjoy it. And Iâm supportive of anything that gives âChrisâ more air time. Stick taps for Andy. Cheers!

colouredgameboy#2i stole my wifeâs phone to leave a second reviewI was just at the dentists office getting a filling and was listening to the show while they were in there, then weekly one timers came on and i was this đclose to doing my best hwapsch (as i always do) with several implements and fingers in my mouth, glad i caught myself before launching all their equipment across the room

BallardKrakenFanA real game changer! This might be a long one. Sorry! I am a Seattlite born and raised turned from a casual T-Birds fan to a Kraken fan as a product of last seasons thrilling playoff run (you were right John!) as well as a good friend getting a job with the team (who knew pro sports teams had librarians!! Possible future interview??) Once I became obsessed I knew I had to find a Kraken podcast to binge and tried a few before settling on this one. I came for the large scope of the pod, love that they talk about Juniors and the womenâs game! Iâm staying for the quality of the hosts. I wanted to get all the info on the history of the team, so I listened to the entire back catalogue, and let me just say, it was well worth it! Now that I am all caught I am stoked to join the 5 star reviewer club. I felt like I got to know full history of the franchise, but also got some great nuggets that make me feel like a true part of Crapweasel Nation. (Quick highlights: getting to know Andy and laughing with him through uncomfortable moments. Darrenâs âoff-the-railsâ exploits, my favorite of which being the skiing nâ peeing story. John generally being everyone favorite grouchy dad, but also laughing and having fun dispute his hatred of humor. Remember the pod where everyone thought you were the drunk one? Hilarious. Curtisâ voice, which is 5 stars all by itself.) Thank you so much for continuing to make this podcast, I know it can be thankless at times but I and may others are very grateful for the hosts and Samâs hard work. It truly has made such a big difference in my life. I now cannot stop saying âcollege sodaâ and am taking an Adult Learn To Play class at KCI. I even went to watch training camp and convinced my fellow fans to sing Happy Birthday to Wennberg! PS: Donât need to read this on the pod. Darren you have a habit of sometimes saying âladies and gentlemenâ which admittedly you havenât been saying as much lately, so thanks for that! I am trying to convert my spouse into Kraken fandom and like to listen with them. They are non-binary and can feel excluded/turned off by gendered language. Thanks in advance!
-
PragobungaLove it!Great podcast, I like the humor mixed in with the serious Kraken talk.
-
VincentAdultmanSEAEqual parts insightful and hilariousDarren, John, and Curtis are highly knowledgeable hockey fans, whip smart, and super entertaining together. This show is well worth a listen, whether youâre a casual Kraken fan or obsessing over every roster move. I can also confirm that theyâre as friendly and gregarious in-person as they are behind the micâthanks for not making fun of me bringing a giant book into the hockey game, fellas. With that, I have some thoughts on the recent segments controversy, including an idea for a NEW segment! Goalie Gear Corner (Brr brr brr!) â Big fan. Ignore the naysayers, Darren. This one is a âkeeper.â âLetâs talk some headlinesâŠaround the horn⊠of the NHL⊠or somethingâ â Has a real improvisational air to it. Iâm not sure thereâs enough differentiation with âWeekly One Timers,â though. Maybe workshop this one. New segment suggestion: âSounds of Sound of Hockeyâ â the guys give a rapt audience the inside scoop on how they record their audio. What is Bardown Studios like? How are the audio effects recorded? Every moo noise, rap air horn, and âwha-psshâ is detailed for an adoring public. Thanks for everything that you do! Stick taps to Andy. Jackson PS: John, Iâm seriousânext time youâre in Nashville for a Kraken game, Hattie Bâs is on me!
-
Washingtonian DawgMust listen for all things KrakenThe group is always producing great Kraken kontent. I love the mix of top notch analysis with a mix of fun lighthearted segments. Goalie gear corner is my favorite and please donât ever take it away from the listeners. Looking forward to many more years to come of great episodes.
-
JoeGrinder84Raccoons on IceBoys, Iâve been listening since 2018 and look forward to every episode. Listening to the pod is like hanging with buddies, so thanks for putting in the effort all these years, it has an impact! I still feel shock and sadness when Andy doesnât introduce himself, and Iâm liking the addition of Curtis (whoâs Chris anyway?) and looking forward to many more years of pods to come. One hope is to see the addition of a data analytics segment to accompany everyoneâs favorite goalie-gear corner! As a Calgary kid who played D, I always love goalies and goalie gear, and I wasnât surprised that an Oilers fan would quit the pod after hearing a goalie-gear episode, Oilers fans donât know greatness when they hear it (haha just fanning the flames). But in all seriousness, easily the best cartoon hockey player ever is Cedric Sneer, with a close runner up being Schaeffer (the goalie) or any of the Raccoons from the Raccoons on Ice. Itâs worth watching the epic battle between the Raccoons and their friends to save the forest rink from the evil Cyril Sneer and his Bears; itâs free to watch on YouTube and is the best 28 minutes youâll spend today!
-
Mcvay206Best pod with the best segment. Please donât skip goalie gear corner ever again.

Rplane4lifeThe place for your ear holes Kraken fans!Sound of Hockey has been my go to Seattle Kraken podcast since the expansion draft. As someone who grew up in a hockey crazy market, it was awesome to discover a local pod that provided a blend of useful game analysis and hockey news, not just around the team, but the league. John, Darren, Chris all sound like guys I'd like to sit down and have a beer with to chop it up about hockey. Alright, now that I have given them their flowers, it's time to address my mailbag question and Darren's follow-up comment from last week (ep 251). Under the category of a more "off the wall" question I asked which segment they would kill and why it should be goalie gear corner. This was a tongue in cheek question, but it's important to provide some context. At the tail end of 2021 I found myself road tripping with my brother, a die hard Edmonton Oilers fan. Being from Edmonton, we grew up on a steady diet of all things Oilers in the media. Because beyond a giant mall, what else is there to do in Edmonton? Nothing, the answer is nothing. Anyways, I told him about this great new podcast I had started listening to with in depth analysis. Hoping to get him a bit more into the Kraken maybe as his #2 team. So I throw on the an episode thinking we are about to get into the weeds on statistical analysis. Instead we were treated to a huge extended goalie gear corner segment and interview. I lost him there, sorry guys, he was gone. Hopefully this provides a bit of context. Last week Darren accused me of being new to the pod because everyone loves goalie gear corner. I have been here since episode 147 (behind the ropes at the expansion draft). So I'm not new to the pod. I'm here to represent the little guy that is not quite as enamored with the pictures on goalie gear. With all of that said, I may have developed Stockholm Syndrome when it comes to the segment, as it has grown on me a bit. 5 stars. Stick taps for Andy. Ryan Heinrichs @ryanheinrichs on the "X"

ZamboniTonyThe go-to source for Kraken FansBeen listening since âSeason 1â, but I use the Google Podcast app on Android, so there hasnât been an easy way to review. I tried to write a review awhile ago, but apparently it didnât go through. So I am trying again. Hope this works. Love the pod. Iâve listened to every Kraken podcast available and this one definitely is my favorite. ECH and KrakenPod are good companions to round out my Kraken needs. So I declare this podcast the Unofficial-Official Kraken Pod. The interviews are great and clearly the pod has the ability to score some good folks. They are always informative and interesting and I can tell everyone is having fun. I have really enjoyed the Firebird interviews, itâs awesome to get to hear from what is going on down in Coachella. Keep those coming. Disco Dan and Joey(s) have been my favorites. The one thing the podcast has a niche on is the Goalie Gear corner. Iâm biased as a goalie, but Iâm always waiting for that segment. Iâm sure there are a lot of people groaning or donât care, but I love it! I do also appreciate that it is family friendly, so I can listen with my kids and not worry. So much so that my son has been making the whip sound whenever the phrase one-timer is uttered. And it is nice to hear people enjoying talking about Hockey and the Kraken like I do with my seat buddies Scott, Austin and Casey. Lastly, great job still respecting and honoring Andy. -Tony
