LiveFreeTodayRacistI find this podcast to be extremely racist and divisive. I do not think this content should be allowed and should be removed. Do not listen.

PandafetRebecca GayheartHosting this person was a mistake. She has never taken accountability. She got a slap on the wrist and had never made true amends to the Cruz family. Not even a PSA for distracted driving. She swerved around traffic that had stopped and that’s why it happened. Take accountability Rebecca

chocolatecityusaBrava Black Woman Magic!I just read your essay in NYT about living an imposter life until you addressed your addiction and need to live authentically. I am a 55 year old Black woman who is very much a work in progress and I love your podcast. Will be tuning in regularly. Keep up the wonderful work!

EllenpdxGirlFound through Scott’s podcast what was that likeWow! Laura you’re such an amazing host, after your episode was featured on his podcast (listed in subject line of review) I binge listened to multiple episodes you and your partner put out; they’re all excellent, authentic, heartfelt, and lesson-learning content and I feel so lucky to have stumbled upon this underrated gem of a storytelling platform. All the best - I am now following and look forward to new and riveting “outsider” stories that give us a glimpse of what it’s like not to be part of society’s decided-upon meaning of what’s normal and what’s not. So in awe over here :) Ellen Portland, Oregon

khahn29Fresh and relevantI can’t tell you how many times I’ve been in a space with COVID-19 where I felt like I’m holding on to the last bit of hope. A dimming flame flickering throughout this past year. And every time I listen to a “The Only One In The Room” I feel inspired! I take in account a different perspective. I feel part of a bigger picture. Thank you to so many wonderful people that have been open and honest with you both to help so many of us feel less alone. Some of my favorites where Rochelle Webb’s podcast on self partnering. Her story I’ve shared with so many women in my community that gave so many beautiful women a sense of love for self. I think about Tracy Kearney and her story about her Innocent husband awaiting trial all the time. How is her fight? Sara Deans podcast sparked an amazingly honest conversation with many of my female and male friends. Her conversation about her own biases helped give way to our own biases that we never really we had. Tracy McMillian was lovely. I had heard her on Super soul Sunday. But revisiting her story had me look into my own forgiveness and letting go. MY FAVORITE EPISODE was Manon Mathews. Her vulnerability and courage to tell her story and still believe in 💛was a gift to listen too. That Scott talk with her was beautiful. Thank you Laura and Scott for the fresh and relevant discussions. Ps. I want to buy every candle from “Voyage et Cie” Laura you make it sound so luxurious!

mofotifoAmazing. Best way to make my day better and lift me up.There is just something so welcoming and wonderful about Scott and Laura as they bring so many amazing people and their stories no one knew. From the beginning their voices welcome me in but what grabs me are these guests. Here are some people that I knew of years back and some just entering my vision but they all have this tale that I never imagined. Scott and Laura bring the best out of all they touch and listening to their show at each drop always keeps me tuned in loving each moment. A gem of a podcast for all and always a great listen to help me through my drive and when I need a moment. Thank you.

revkrobComfortingI’m so grateful to have found this podcast. The premise of being the only one in the room is terrifying, but this is somehow comforting. Perhaps it’s the realization that we never really are “alone”, instead seeking others who can understand and empathize. Thank you to Laura and Scott for bringing the others to us.

dr money1Thanks for your visionThe show tackles a challenging issue that often is quietly overlooked. At first I didn’t realize that “the only one in the room” really meant telling our truth about being “the only one in the room.” Wow, at 27- I was CEO of a $250MM dollar Jv that I structured and led. Of course out of 400 employees and 8 offices, I was the only one leading such a firm. Before social media to expose me. Actually, my grandmother told me to NOT tell anyone or I would never get a husband. She was correct! I digress, after the death of my mom at 48-years of age, I removed myself from the global stage quietly had a son, and became invisible. Not true- landed at a multi billion dollar real estate development firm and people knew my name! Thankfully still no social media so they assumed I was a caucasian female, then I moved to Orange County and soon after social media arrived- I’m still the only one in the room in Real Estate Development, Venture Capital, esports, cryptocurrency, cannabis and more! Basically, thank you for sharing your journey as I’m finally ready to share my truth! It’s contagious!!!

Lyn AliciaLove itI love this podcast! It’s like curling up with a blanket around the fireplace sharing meaningful deep conversation with your coolest closest friends! Hot cocoa or tea optional.
-
chpetersodLove the podcastLaura and Scott’s theme of exploring one person’s story of isolation and aloneness resonates with me and I’d imagine with everyone. The episodes are all different and allow me to feel connected to someone who’s story is different than mine. At times the podcast makes me laugh or cry or just hear a perspective I’ve never thought about before. I love “The Only One” and am thrilled to hear there will be a season 2.

Don@macWas great but going downhillIt has quickly gotten away from its premise. It seems like this podcast is more intent on getting host of other podcast to come on that really don’t talk about “being the only one in the room”. The one about conners being the only black man in the writers room was a brilliant brilliant idea and I wanted to hear about that. But then they mentioned it for one sentence and then spent the entire rest of the episode talking about his podcast and his podcast seminars. That sucked. I did not subscribe to this podcast to hear a guest only talk about their podcast. And also lose Scott talks. Not only is it anti-climatic and repetitive, it’s totally boring and more important, unnecessary. Lose it. Let Scott talk during the normal episode, if you must, but the after show is not going anywhere. I’ve never listened to the whole thing. I’ll give it a few more episodes and if nothing changes I’m out.
-
HappyCamper2016This Podcast is gloriousYou will want to listen to every minute of this. Laura and Scottie are brilliant.

LIsa EllisonThoughtful, Important, Expertly ProducedI was immediately impressed with the quality of this podcast. Laura Cathcart Robins thoughtfully takes on challenging issues. Her podcast lets us know that while we may sometimes be the only person in the room, we are definitely not alone.
-
DanaMMichI’m no longer the only oneI started listening because I’ve had many experiences in which I’ve felt “othered” or witnessed the othering of friends and acquaintances. This podcast—with its stellar guests—made me realize that we all have those moments, and that we can reach out and end the othering, and that as we do so we end up healing our own wounds, too. Insightful, funny, and heartfelt are words that only scratch the surface when it comes to describing this great new podcast and podcaster.
-
LaraLillibridgeMy new favorite podcast! Each story is unique and thought-provoking, but also speaks to a universal message of being othered by society. It’s like eavesdropping on a warm conversation between intelligent friends.
-
MelRLThought provokingThis is a highly enjoyable podcast. It’s easy to forget that other people are having a different life experience from you. Laura is kind and joyful as she asks difficult questions to get to the stories of her guests. This podcast helps me look at different view points so that I can be more open to understanding people around me. Listen! It’s really good.
