ThanigthadwolfNo Wednesday is complete without this podcast if you enjoy comics and comics historyThank you guys so much for the work you do and the terrific guests you book to talk about these comics. I especially appreciate the context provided by the news segments every episode. If not for this, the heroic survivors of the cod wars would be entirely forgotten.

CatalinaGMCThe absolute bestThis podcast is amazing and definitely deserves its “no-prize”

Bille1967So Happy this Podcast Came BackThis is a really great podcast!! The camaraderie between the hosts is what makes this podcast so enjoyable. You can tell they really enjoy hanging and talking comics. It is well worth the $4 a month for the Patreon subscription that gives the listener so many more hours of excellent content. While the guests are outstanding (Seanbaby, Brian Michael Bendis, Douglass Wolk, Tom Brevoort to name just a few) Bryan, Jamie and Robb are the reason I continue to listen every week faithfully. Thank you for all you do. The new theme song rocks! Make Mine Marvel (By The Month)

Scooter623Marvel by the Month! Nuff Said!My go to podcast on a daily basis. There is a deep library of previous episodes to which I am forever grateful for. It was on this podcast that Kirby’s New Gods was explained coherently for the first time for me. I cannot say enough nice things about Marvel by the Month. Great insider guests, funny and cogent analysis of most Marvel issues released in a given month, and explanations of what was going on in that month in history and pop culture. I have also subscribed to the Marvel by the Month Patreon page which gives expanded episodes for a paltry 4.00 a month. The guys are on a hiatus as I write this and I cannot wait for their return as they will be hitting the Marvels released in the mid to late 70’s, my personal entry point into the Marvel Universe. And like I said, there is a huge library of previous episodes which I am only partially through. Excellent Excellent Excellent.

TheMarvelManThe BEST podcast on the web!!If you’re not listening to this weekly synopsis of a month of Marvel comics then you must hate yourself! Do not deprive yourself of the unrelenting joy that this podcast provides! Download it, play it on “repeat,” and have a wonderful day!

DantharrCan’t believe they’ve made it to Giant-Size Men!The 3 hosts breaking down a month of marvel comics in chronological order is amazing, incredible, fantastic, sensational, mighty and absolutely crazy! Bryan works as the overall host keeping the team moving forward and has a deep history of comics in his head. Robb is great but I must confess my favorite moments with him are the “Marvel by the Minute”. This always makes me laugh out loud as he tries to describe some insane Steve Gerber plot in a minute. And finally Jamie, whose joined the team later and his love for the Xmen cannot be contained, even when he’s forced to trudge through the Roy Thomas (creator of Wolverine LOL) plots. It’s been a real pleasure going back in time and listening to these guys go through the comics of my youth. The last season they entered my “sweet spot” of Marvel comics and they routinely are covering comics I had as a kid. If you start listening I highly recommend using the Marvel Unlimited app and follow along. The true beauty of this podcast is their love and respect for the material but not afraid to crack wise or call out truly terrible storytelling. Can’t wait for next season! So until they reach the brutal 90’s era Make Mine Marvel By the Month!

mattharveymustbedestroyedMake mine Marvel by the MonthGreat show with amazing guests - thanks Bryan, Robb and Jamie for reading every Marvel Comic so I don’t have to. If you love the comics, characters and creators of the Marvel Universe, you’ll find something in every episode that will surprise you, and occasionally inspire or infuriate you as well.

DracofollyAmazing podcast!Amazing, spectacular, and down right Fantastic podcast

VickparkThe Best Marvel History PodcastThis podcast is Marvel-ous! Digging deep into Marvel history going month by month in a light hearted, fun and interesting way. The guys have great chemistry with each other and it’s like eavesdropping on a fireside chat as they discuss Spidey, The Hulk, The FF, The X-Men, etc,. Currently, they are in the year 1975 and quickly approaching Giant Size X-Men #1. I started buying comics in 1976 so I am looking forward to the future episodes! Great stuff with so much more to come. Well done gents!
-
mwat54321Crushes it 5/5This is a great podcast that has gotten me to care about comics again. Can’t wait till they cover the first comic I bought. It was a Spider-Man Transformers crossover. Transformers #3 cover date January 1985.
-
Well, You KnowFantastic reviews! Not only do you get to hear about what’s going on at Marvel each month, but you also get the context of the times- which is so important! I love tuning in and diving into the back catalog.

Mirth918Genuinely Awesome!!I’ve been following Marvel by the Month on social media for quite some time, but with limited listening time, I haven’t had an opportunity to dig into the podcast. With a break in my work schedule, I’ve finally been able to dive in, and I’m bummed it’s taken me this long!! These guys are phenomenal. The content is fantastic, but the chemistry between Bryan, Jamie, and Robb makes the show. I love that they contextualize the episodes by discussing what was happening in the world the month the subject issues were released. Overall, it’s just really excellent!! I look forward to each new episode.

likesdisneyMy favorite podcastThis is my favorite podcast of the last few years. I discovered it in 2021. I started with the Season 1 recap, but I was enjoying it so much that I jumped back to the beginning and listened to every episode including the Patreon exclusive episodes and extended episodes which I highly recommend. It is a very funny and informative recap and critical examination of every issue of Marvel comics one month at a time. The guests are amazing, the music is fantastic, and the hosts are incredible.

stairwell majesticSome day I’ll read one of these comic books.I will now give you the best review you’ve ever received: I listen faithfully and hardly ever read comics. I don’t know what the art looks like or who many of the characters are, but the jokes still! I also appreciate the thread, episode to episode, of how these Books with Pictures sat in the cultural moment of their time and how they resonate now. And the month-to-month updates on airline hijackings in the 70s…seems like an expected occurrence for travelers back then.

Science BeardThanks! My first comic was GI Joe 40 in 198-something. Last year I stopped buying any floppies or trades. Despite not being an active reader anymore I love this podcast. Elliot Kalan mentioned being a guest on here and I instantly went and downloaded all back issues and have been listening ever since. They are one of only two podcasts that I back on Patreon and it’s worth every penny. Thanks for your historical perspectives. Thanks for the hilarious discussions of good and bad. Thanks for the guests that fill in so much. Thanks for your positivity and the joy you bring when I listen. If you need any help talking about some New Universe or Strikeforce Morituri, let me know!
-
Chris VendrickDoing the Marvel Legwork for Us!Robb, Bryan, and Jamie host a fun romp through every issue in Marvel history that is much more fun to listen to than actually attempting yourself. Great guests, theme songs, and insights!

M. StraussExcelsior!“Morbius” to the tune of “Gloria” was the most I’ve laughed while listening to a podcast maybe ever. Featuring an OHOTMU-worth of stellar guests and funny, knowledgeable hosts, Marvel by the Month has quickly become a go-to comics podcast, alongside Word Balloon, Jay & Miles X-Plain the X-Men, and CerebroCast. At the start of ep. 181 they admonish listeners to avoid some of the earlier episodes, but I’ve listened to every episode over the last couple months and have thoroughly enjoyed the ride. The format, setting each month’s comics in historical context, is engaging and entertaining. 5 stars, 6 infinity gems, and 1M’kraan crystal.

kegg255Best showEasily my favorite podcast and the patron is a great value. Amazing content and guests. Thank you for doing this. I am so excited for giant sized X-Men this year!!!

Art2knowPure comic nerd joy!I came to this podcast a few years after it had begun and after listening to a few episodes, I started at back at episode #1 so I wouldn’t miss a single show. No regrets! This is my go-to podcast when I’m working on my own paintings. It’s like hanging out with good friends and geeking out. Bryan and Robb are a blast to listen to. I appreciate the current event intro to the show and the interesting guests (Fred Hembeck!!! What?!?). Since I started at the beginning and am a few years behind, it has been a time capsule to pre-COVID times. It was actually quite powerful listening as they were experiencing the challenges of the pandemic, not knowing how it would work out, but still working to provide some much needed encouragement to their listeners to “stay inside and read comics”. If you love Marvel comics and want to have a good time while learn more about the history of comics, then this is THE podcast for you. Thanks to Robb and Bryan for reading all the comics so I don’t have to. Cheers!
-
Journey Into PodcastMy new obsession! This is hands down my favorite comics podcast! Bryan, Robb, and Jamie do a fantastic and fun job of covering all of these comics all by themselves. Then you throw in their fantastic guests and it just gets better. Just getting their comics recommendations is a treat, like whipping cream and sprinkles on top of an alreadt great podcast!
-
Ben.ForrestWould be 5 stars with a little tweakingI’ve listened to a few episodes now and I feel like it takes too long to get to the actual content. I’m listening to a comic book podcast, not a random events in history podcast. Spending twenty to thirty minutes on that before getting to the AMAZING comics content is grating. Great guest stars and once they do talk about comics it’s a lot of fun. Would love it if they dropped this one segment and used the time they would gain for something else.
-
dawabowOne of the very best comics talk podcastsI used to write about comics for Comic Book Herald and this is podcast is inspiring me to get back to comics journalism. But it’s as much an invaluable resource to any serious Marvel fan. Maybe it can even convince fence sitters to fall in love with older comics, that there’s still much to love and laugh over amidst all the cheap campiness. And that the zany weirdness of Marvel-style superheroes makes more sense when you look back at the company’s early days. Certainly no other comics podcast has done nearly so much in making vivid the lives of all the major creators at early Marvel and in bringing the historical context of the 1960s and now the early 1970s to the fore, much of it surprising even to a history buff. A sterling podcast in a tarnished world. What more convincing do you need. It’s also hella funny.

Z5iloMLoving Parental Leave Listening to Marvel By The Month with my six-month-oldMarvel By The Month has been my go-to comfort podcast during these past few years of pandemic, mechanized warfare and political debauchery. Now, as a new parent bonding with my six-month-old, I’m loving my time driving around touring comic book shops in the DC area with my future True Believer, listing to Marvel By The Month in the car, especially as the show moves into the Bronze Age, my favorite Marvel era. Keep it up fellas, and looking forward to the embossed 200th episode!

res8323Needed this showThis past winter was one of the harder ones of my life, but bingeing through this podcast made every day more enjoyable. Thanks for the fun!

BasilasaurusGrowing Old With ThemI had never been a podcast listener until August of 2022 when MBTM was recommended by my brother-in-law after hearing me talk Marvel comics with our nephews. I started with the first episode which had first aired before the pandemic and was instantly hooked. Since then I have listened to 146 of the first episodes and 4 of the most recent, with about 50 to go to be all caught up. It has been worth the entire investment of time. The hosts (that means you too, Jamie) are knowledgeable and hilarious and their guest roster has been stellar. The format is delightful and the discussion is, at turns, insightful and silly. Sometimes serious, often self-deprecating and always entertaining, this show was my getaway drug to the world of podcasts. I am a Patreon supporter and consider it money well spent. Make mine MBTM!
-
Mickspanky LittlejacketFantastic show!Nothing much to say except that I love the deep dive into the history of Marvel by the Month. Thanks for the great work guys!
-
BTGoldbergAbsolutely worth the $4 for the extended versionI’ve been listening to MBTM ever since I heard it mentioned by John Hodgman. I stuck to the free version though until a few months ago. At the time I thought I didn’t need another hour of MBTM. Boy was I wrong. This is the only show that I’m happy to listen to 2.5 hours of. The hosts are all knowledgeable and funny. They have terrific guests who offer great stories and insights. It’s by far the longest podcast I listen to and the time just flies by. Make Mine Marvel by the Month!
-
ray6166Best Marvel Comics podcast!I’ve been listening to this podcast for over three years and it’s become the only comics-orientated podcast that I listen to anymore. It’s that good. The hosts come across as very friendly and affable (… and each one has a good voice for radio.) They rarely stray from their main topics, but even when they do, I have to agree with them! They are reviewing the monthly books year-by-year since Marvel continuity began in Fantastic Four 01. They add a good deal of humor and insights to their discussions of each issue, as well a fair amount of historical context. Besides, all that, they have they are able to corral some super interesting guest commentators from all aspects of the comics industry, including writers, artists, dealers, and like minded fans, as well as people from the entertainment, industry and beyond. Each episode that they produce is highly interesting. But I’m getting more and more engaged as they get closer to that time when I was starting to read Marvel comics. Yup, I’m older than you. (Bring back Noah✌️.)

Vinny Vidi ViciInsane People Assemble! So, I am one of those “insane people“ who wants to do this completion Marvel By The Month run with you. I started at season one episode 1 and have gotten as far as episode 32 thus far; I’ve decided to double down and join you in the present beginning this year 2023 and listen to your most recent episode and continue on with you this year as well. I figure sometime in the next year or two I will officially be “all caught up.” Love it all and couldn’t praise your podcast enough. Keep up the great work!
-
J. LaForestA marvel fan mustThis team has slogged through some of the toughest to read books in all 616 and are dedicated to giving us the highlights. They have inspired me to read from the beginning, but you don’t have to to enjoy. Plus they get great guests.
-
BGR!MMEXCELSIOR!WUT ARE YA? A YANCY STREETER!? I KNOW WITH ALL THE WORLD THREATN’N DISASTERS EACH MONTH IT’S TUFF TO FIND A WAY TO TREAT YURSELF! THESE TWO EGGHEADS REALLY SEEM TO KNOW THE REAL DEAL! WELL I AINT GONNA TALK YER EAR OFF OVER IT, BUT HECK—EVEN MY EVER LOVIN’ AUNT PETUNIA LIKES IT!
-
jawalshSuper fun entertainmentGreat show! Fun, entertaining, likable hosts. Great guests. Love it.
-
jpc82Excellent, When They Are Talking About ComicsThis podcast is very interesting and well produced. It is a great way to learn about Marvel’s history by looking at all of the stories in context and how they relate to one another. The hosts are engaging and humorous. The show is an enjoyable bit of comics entertainment as long as it stays focused on comic books. But…. Of course it can’t seem to focus on just comic books. Heaven forbid that we have a bit of entertainment without a lecture about left leaning politics. It’s not as overbearing as other sources, but if you are looking for a political free bit of escapism, this isn’t it. Additionally one of the hosts comes off as contemptuous of those who don’t agree with him. It’s not very often but it’s there. If that will bother you, you might want to listen to something else.
-
richardatgmailTons of Fun!I love the show. I especially loved the episode where you kept having to say "Dorcas, Orca, Dorma, and Krang." I would like to see the Takes to Astonish collected somewhere, please.
-
Victor VonDoombotMake Mine Marvel by the Month!Great show, love the history lessons, the banter, and the great guests! Always fun to read along on MU too!
-
offandonsinceASM283Excellent well rounded podcastBy which I mean that the Pym hate is well balanced with the lame Dr Blake hate . Highly recommend for both comic fans and just people who still don’t understand all the Stan Lee cameos.
-
Rex ThrillhoChef's kissBrilliant concept, charming hosts, great guests, entertaining, informative, AND the best dang theme song in podcasts. What more could you want except more?
-
nlh23Great podcast!!Excellent podcast! Enjoy listening to these guys talk about marvel comics!

RBRASIL32Great podcast with excellent hosts!I began listening to the podcast after it was mentioned on the Flop House Podcast to promote an upcoming appearance by one of the hosts. When I looked it up I realized they had a giant back catalogue that my OCD would not let me not listen to, and I am so glad I did. The hosts are provide a bit of color as to the goings on in the US and world at the time when these comics were released and it helps give context as to why certain stories were written certain ways. It has grown my appreciation for a period of comics that I had taken a peak at in my life, but never a deep dive. I really can’t thank them enough for expanding my horizons past what I grew up with and the contemporary books I pick up today. They consistently have amazing guests on who I may be hearing or leaning about for the first time and that has lead me to so many new and great recommendations. This podcast has also been a bright spot while dealing with depression as the hosts have such a drive for a more positive world. From Covid, to wildfires here in Northern California, to personal loss, this podcast continues to be a happy place for me. I feel sometimes even media I love can skew to the negative, and it can be a bit depressing especially in the times we are currently dealing with. I really want to say thank you for that. I truly get happy every time an episode pops up in my feed. Can’t wait for the next one! From, A die hard Moon Knight fan (We’re getting close!)

dkpwvA walk through Marvel historyBeing a Marvel reader and collector since the very early 70’s, I am digging this podcast so much. I am really looking forward to them getting to my main era of comic book love (1972 - early 1990’s) . I don’t buy new books any longer but I still read comics, comic book history, and consume comic book podcasts daily. Books discussed on this have led me to a number of purchases for my back issue collections. This is a fantastic podcast. Keep up the good work. Excelsior!!!
-
ArmzracerMake Mine Marvel (by the Month)!Great deal of fun! Good guests, interesting commentary, and the best theme song of any podcast ever, until they changed it 😩
-
Scott H PDXLove this podcastThis podcast is so fun, even Doctor Doom would love it.
-
els990Five FREAKING Stars!I’m a new listener but already a huge fan! From the knowledgeable hosts to the great guests, it’s both an enjoyable and educational listen.
-
IronboundLove itThis show has kept me entertained through all 357 rounds of the pandemic.
-
alisaurus.wrecks*Chef’s kiss*This show is accessible, funny and informative. You can be Marvel OG or you can be someone who is trying to work their way through the history of something you’ve recently become interested in (like me). It isn’t condescending and the hosts don’t shy away from the history and imperfections that created the Marvel Universe. Keep up the great work!
-
William SeabubMbtm!Oh, these hyper-lefty woke communist pansies who happen to a) give us the best panoramic view of marvel continuity and growth as they carry out their forced march through the decades, b) have a really nice rapport with one another (though transitions between comic issues are still a problem!) c) have an amazing rogues gallery of guest hosts, and d) really, their politics are where their hearts are, and if people being sincere bother you, you probably shouldn’t be listening to this podcast, because any project this foolishly ambitious can only be fueled by sincerity. Also, the Patreon expanded guest episodes are well worth the dime!
-
TooColdTyler-OLove this showAbsolutely love this show. It’s my new favorite podcast. You guys always have me laughing at work. My co-workers look at me weird. Thanks for the show.
-
empathYCountyPlease keep with the empathy stuffThe show is amazing, and overall educational, but unlike every comic show they spend way to much time *ON EVERY EPISODE* doing the nonstandard empathy building. We need to get it. People in the 1960s weren’t like people in the 2020s. Lessons need to be learned. We need to know. Some things have changed. Other things still haven’t changed and require changing. Empathy empathy empathy. You need to go back to this same point every 10 minutes. (ps. Thank you for everything you do to build empathy Jamie, Robb, and Bryan ;)
-
CTowniePlease stop with the woke stuffThe show is fine, and overall educational, but like basically every comic book show they spend way to much time *ON EVERY EPISODE* doing the standard woke lip service. We get it. People in the 1960s weren’t like people in the 2020s. Lesson learned. We know. Things have changed. Other things haven’t changed. Politics politics politics. You don’t need to go back to the same point every 10 minutes.
