My Life of Crime with Erin Moriarty

986
True Crime #149

“48 Hours” correspondent Erin Moriarty takes you inside true-crime investigations like no one else, taking on killers and those accused of crimes. This season she delves into the labyrinth of crime within families and the secrets that kept them together or tore them apart. Moriarty brings almost three decades of experience as a lawyer and reporter involved in murder cases — she brushes past the speculation to the evidence and talks to the people directly involved, including investigators and the families of victims. Follow along Erin's journey as she goes beyond the scene of each crime, behind prison walls, and into the killers' inner thoughts. It’s all on this season of “My Life of Crime”.

    Too Bad
Always enjoyed this podcast. Too bad they decided to chase the bucks and demand subscriptions. Bye bye.

    Wow! Marty Tankleff Episodes
Great Job! Thank you for getting Marty of out jail!!! It’s so obvious his confession was coerced and that detective let the real killer go free. I can understand false confessions. Especially from a traumatized 17 year old who was raised to trust the police. POLICE should NOT be allowed to LIE IN THE UNITED STATES! What I can not understand, is why police and prosecutors ignore the facts, evidence and the business partner who skipped town! Impressed by who Marty is!

    Good & short
Ms. Moriarty’s reporting is excellent! Clearly she has available to her the staff of CBS News to edit and produce the show to the level of a Big Three quality program. Since she’s a TV reporter perhaps a 20-30 minute episode seems in-depth. It does make you wonder what’s remained on the cutting room floor. And, when she’s done 2-part or even 4-part series’ why not just put them all-together & make one episode? A combined 2-parter would hardly make a single hour’s episode! Therefore, a 4-part series would combine down to about 2 hours — at least of the ones I’ve reviewed. ALL THAT SAID… I’ve enjoyed the podcast. Hopefully they’re on vacation & will have new episodes coming soon in 2024 since their last publication is dated 12/20/23.

TODAY’S THE DAY! Michelle Traconis case goes to trial TODAY! 01/11/24. Her body is long gone, (the shallow grave originally intended for disposal of her remains was discovered by hunters. As trump would say: “many people are saying” she was buried in a shallow grave near Pinnacle Ridge in Farmington, quick access to Mountain Spring rd via Reservoir road/Mt rd/High st/Route 4.. Good show but…
This would be one of my favorite podcasts but they don’t tell you that it’s a 2-part until the end! I’m a binger and would much rather listen to both at the same time, NOT wait a week in between episodes!!!!

    No stone unturned
Best review of all the information available and put in exciting yet easy to understand program.

    Episodes need to be longer.
Episodes are too short. I listen to podcasts on my long commute to work and when I go to bed at night. 15 - 20 minutes is too short, so I’ve opted for different podcasts.

    Annoying ads and horrible voice
Opened up with a very annoying, slow speaking, monotone ad about Trivia Star! I never even made it to the show. Won’t be back. Part of the beauty of a paid subscription is not having to listen to annoying ads

5 Stars Bc Justice Was Served!
Happy to hear of the outcome of this. Raynella Leath is innocent and the Judge made the right decision, imo.

    Erin
Erin is one of ( few) favorite reporters. She is the ideal: voice, poise, quality of questions, and prosody .
  • Lovelylexy527
    Unoriginal reporting.
Same exact stories as 48 hours but shorter.
  • RapMon3
    Disgusting
Disgustingly biased reporting. Gross, unprofessional behavior as a reporter

Meh. Just recut, shorter versions of old 48 hrs episodes

    48 hr repeats
So I was really excited about the show until I discover that everything that plays on here plays on the 48 hours podcast. Since there’s more on 48 hours in here, this one has to go.

    Can’t handle her voice
It might be a decent podcast but I didn’t make it ten minutes because the host voice was like nails on a chalkboard.
  • Zoe Kraj
    Erin still has it!
    I listen to every episode.

    Victim or abuser absurdity
I take issue with moriarty’s approach to this one. She keeps digging for reasons to let Tracy Grissom of the hook. It’s clear that after losing control of her relationship, Tracy was enraged that Hunter had a girlfriend, then killed Hunter for the life insurance money and for her rage. Yet Erin can’t seem to accept this and wants to blame an obscure one-sided story of her past. Sure there could’ve been trauma and underlining reasons but that can be true for lots of us. Erin’s bias in this one is really unfair to Hunter and his family and is very off putting to listen to. Also, Tracy cried abuse against Hunter when there was none. And killed him. So offensive.

    Kinda weird
I mean do you really need a woman naked in bed choking off a coat hanger that’s weird a man with bullets in him while duking what the heck!?What I mean is make some more realistic or what I would say where is weird podcast so does it take down the ratings too far down. But honestly I think it’s a good podcast we should all watch so maybe you should make some longer ones too I really like your podcast you should really make more of a listen to 48 hours yet. And I just started on this podcast not too long ago maybe a couple weeks or days. It’s really catchy on the first podcast.

    Great show
Erin is by far my favorite journalist. I can’t pinpoint what exactly it is, but her reporting is incredibly captivating and interesting.

    Loquacious Commercials
Too many loud and tedious ads interrupting an 18 minute podcast ???? That’s the real crime here. Thumbs down.

    “Gentrification”
I like this show a lot, but the episode where she talks about Horror movies with her son made me audibly groan. Dude brings up “gentrification” in the first sentence he utters about why horror movies are popular. 😂 Barf. Interviews with that son of hers aside, this is an excellent podcast.
  • justforgetitalready
    Very unfriendly tone
Just came across this podcast. Erin is very accusatory when asking questions. While some incarcerated ppl are guilty, some are not. Do not care for this podcast solely due to Erin’s attitude.

Erin knows how to deliver. Her storytelling keeps me on the edge of my seat!

    Love the stories
I love the stories but I really do not like some are two parts. If I'm already invested in a story. I do not like to wait for the second part of the stories. That's honestly the reason I stop listening and went with other podcast.
  • Lfaulk
    I hate Erin’s voice
I cannot stand her voice and cadence but she is a good storyteller
  • Jeanniekini2
Erin’s reporting style & voice is like a comfy couch!
Love Erin’s reporting style & voice comforting! Also love that often Erin had reported on a subject in these crimes when it originally occurred.

    I just love Erin!!
    Thank you

Strong and clear stories of humanity
Love this show as much as longer stories.

    Waste of Time
Nothing but bashing law enforcement and only telling one side of the story. Sad.

    Idea!
I enjoy this podcast a lot! The Lizzie Borden retrial was an awesome idea and got me thinking… Y’all should re-try famous cases in today’s legal system and precedence where defendants were found not guilty but easily could have gone the other way. Fatty Arbuckle, OJ, Sam Sheppard, Claus von Bulow, etc. I think that would be fascinating! Great job!

This is so well edited resulting in relatively short but thorough podcasts. Perfect for running errands. Brief ad at beginning and one other mid-program.

    It's ok
I've listened to this podcast regularly since it came out but with so many great podcasts out there I'm moving on from this one. The episodes are too short, the ads too annoying (I get the need for ads but these come with no warning (like the middle of a sentence) and are blaring and just obnoxious stuff like AT&T super fast "fine print" at the end and all), and I didn't hate her voice/way of speaking at first, it's starting to annoy me.

    Reruns
Love Erin and 48 Hours so I had high hopes. But this is just a rehash of her 48 Hours shows. I was hoping for some original content.

    Love it!!
This type of podcast t never really interested me, but one day I just decided to try it out. I had heard about this podcast before so I thought I’d listen to it.From the first episode I listened to I was amazed. The narration is captivating, the stories are fascinating, and there’s always a twist or turn I never expect. I learned so much about these crimes as they were broken down to me in detail, and I definitely recommend this podcast to anyone who likes this genre of podcast, or just someone trying something new.
