I never write reviews on anything, but I had to for this one. I was chatting on X with Trey about the Devs down here in SOFLO and he was just the nicest guy. We seemed to miss each other at the Devs morning skate in Ft. Lauderdale, but we met at the game. Trey was so up and beyond nice. He came to my seats just to say hi and introduce himself. Who does that in today’s digital age? I know who, TREY MATTHEWS! If you ever have the PRIVILEGE to meet and chat, you will not regret it. Ty Trey for being a real down to earth person, who also loves the Devils. Hope to se stout agin next yr down in SOFLO.

I love his show and behind the scenes content

If I had a dollar for every time Trey misused a word or phrase, I'd have enough $ to buy the team. Sometimes I just listen to episodes to laugh at how many mistakes he makes involving the English language. Ps. He really called California "the sunshine state" Come on man hahahaha Just need someone with a higher IQ and more hockey knowledge

Great insight and conversation

But I’ve listened to a lot of locked on nhl teams podcasts and Trey is really good. I don’t know enough about the Devils to know if I agree with his thoughts or not, but he sounds like he knows what he’s talking about, he’s prepared for every episode and seems like a professional compared to some locked on hosts. All of the episodes have heard have been good -minus the one where I thought I might throw my phone if I heard Vitek Vanecek one more time. I’m guessing it’s probably a joke I’m outside of. I found myself being happy for him for getting his press credentials and his excitement was endearing. I hope he continues to succeed in the industry.

Locked On Devils is a mediocre podcast. I like the format of a daily podcast at 30 minutes or less (like most Locked On shows), but the host here leaves so much to be desired. The show does have connections to Devil’s alumni and members of the media/community, so I’ll certainly give it points for that. The shows are posted pretty consistently (slightly less than every day), and I do like some of the segments that occasionally pop up. That’s about where the positives end. I acknowledge that host Trey Matthews has above average hockey knowledge and some pedigree in the industry, but I don’t like him here. It feels like episodes are recorded on the fly: Trey consistently uses phrases and vocabulary incorrectly, at times speaks so quickly that he’s difficult to understand, and he’s often outshined by guests on the show who come across as better prepared, more well-spoken, and all around better suited for the podcast. Trey also consistently needs to backpedal on his commentary and apologize to the fan base for being either so wildly off base with his hot takes, or just plain incorrect in his assessment of the team. Lastly, Trey seems to have a pretty big ego, as he regularly refers to himself as a “Devil’s personality,” actively fishes for positive ratings/feedback, and asks the fan base to validate himself and the show. Maybe I’m being overly critical, but I don’t think it’s too much to ask for a well connected and established podcast network to staff professional, prepared, and well-spoken hosts. Listening to a handful of other Locked On podcasts, I’d listen to this show so much more if the host would speak more professionally and prepare more for each episode; I don’t get any information or opinions from this show that I don’t already get from other podcasts and news casts. Maybe a co-host would solve the issues? Maybe a co-host would shine a light on just how outclassed Trey Matthews is on the show.

Locked on Devils is my go to pod for all news NJ Devils. His enthusiasm, energy and knowledge is first rate- keep it up Trey!!

As a Devils fan…the fact that this guy is representing my team is embarrassing. His long winded repetitive crying rants about nonsense are the worst! He should never be allowed behind a microphone again.

Host is very knowledgeable and passionate about all things hockey. He adds a creative flair to each episode that is rare in sports podcasts nowadays. Very well done!

Happy to have found this podcast through Devils Twitter. You can tell right off the bat Trey is a real fan and knows his stuff. I actually really appreciate that he distills each episode down into quality content and no filler. The episodes are the perfect length and don't drag on like so many other podcasts. Top notch product!

If you are a Devils fan and looking for something to keep you in tune as a fan, this is the show for you. Trey is not only honest whether good or bad but he’s passionate about the team. It’s a very insightful and informative podcast and keeps you engaged as a fun. I would recommend this to any fan who loves hockey in general as well. His takes are great as well. Trey does a comprehensive analysis in short order of the previous game, upcoming game and long term outlook of the NJ Devils based on current events. The podcast is upbeat, generally optimistic and a fun listen. Totally recommend to any Devils fan looking for an informative fun podcast.

This guys for someone who’s supposed to be a devils podcast host he doesn’t have very good memory or takes really bad notes . Have caught him giving false information multiple times this season. His conversation about Calgary game and about the short handed power play states … it’s a shame cause this is the only devils podcast

I’m a casual fan who is trying to get more into hockey, and this helped me a lot. One of my favorite podcasts!!!

I really enjoy listening to Locked On Devils podcasts. As a huge Devils fan currently living in Capitals territory, I tune in to Trey’s podcast when I head into work to stay up to date with team news, game breakdowns, and interviews with special guests in the world of hockey. Locked On Devils is a great resource for Devils fans no matter where you live.

Locked on devils podcast has been very enjoyable for me so far, it’s very informative and consistent! I recently started listening and now I can’t stop listening

I have yet to stomach a full podcast I liked it at first but the more I listened the more I can tell he couldn’t pronounce any of the players names or was knowledgeable about the team seems like he’s reading off cue cards then being a fan like he claims wish he learned player names and got a better feel for the team Update: this host listens to feedback and I really appreciate it he takes time to talk to his listeners and put out the best product possible and is growing as a devils fan and had a podcast host long as you can take constructive criticism from your audience the sky is the limit :)

Trey truly does a great job with this podcast. He is your go-to for your Devils news, updates, and more! I enjoy listening to his takes on the latest Devils news among other things. This is my daily go-to podcast for New Jersey Devils news and commentary. Trey Matthews is the host and his knowledge about the Devils added to his excitement about the team makes this an enjoyable and informative podcast. Unlike some sanctimonious podcast hosts who talk down to listeners, Matthews talks to listeners like he’s sitting at a table sharing a beer while discussing their favorite team. If you’re a Devils fan, or a hockey fan that enjoys insightful hockey conversation, this podcast is a must listen.

The host Trey Matthews has some great energy and in depth analysis for a Devils team that is rebuilding at the moment. I’m a newer listener but i’ll definitely stay tuned in all season.

To start out, I don’t follow the Devils or the NHL much at all in that matter. But these podcasts are very enjoyable to listen to, I like the guest speakers that come and talk and listening to what they have to say. While I don’t always understand which players they are talking about, or certain games. But the discussions are very interesting, educational, and informative for me. Trey Matthews does a great job!

I get it, it’s a business, it has to make money somehow and equipment ain’t cheap. But holy smokes, tone down the ads a notch or two (or 5). If you want to compete with the other podcasts, work on your ad/content ratio, please! Content which is pretty generic if you ask me. By the way, how can someone be both a Devils fan and a Flyers fan? Come on!
