i clicked on an episode because i liked the guest but the “guest” barely even spoke. Wouldve been better if i actually wouldve heard the guests voice

As a huge reality tv star (more specifically anything Bravo), I had heard of Evan many times before but never got around to listening. Having Ariana Grande on was the perfect reason to start this podcast and I’m so glad I did! I have listened to all of her interviews but this was by far the most informative one that allowed her to speak HER piece while also giving her fans what they want to hear (tour, more music teasers, interaction with J. Coolidge…). But the main reason I decided to write this review is because it felt so REAL. Evan was able to ask all of the public’s questions in a most respectful way but still allow her to respond to fans (and haters) in a way that she was comfortable with. Evan clearly planned this well and I’m sure he does this for all of his guests.

I’ve always enjoyed the show but in the beginning he was sooooo afraid of saying the wrong thing it became stultifying sometimes. We know you aren’t trying to be an edgelord calm down. Now he’s more confident he much more listenable

Although I love and appreciate ERK and this podcast. I do find that at times the unrelated subjects during certain episodes are confusing and not necessary. For example in the latest Elizabeth Banks episode the deep dive into Pamela Anderson felt like it could be its own episode. I found myself having to double check what episode I was even listening too. The title should be renamed Pamela Anderson / Elizabeth Banks. It left me feeling a bit annoyed. Like ERK couldn’t decide what subject to discuss.

Just discovered this podcast and so very impressed with Evan's intelligent, perceptive interviews. He has done his research and, instead of asking the same 5 questions every episode, engages in a personal, informed conversation with each guest. And he's a Pittsburgh native, which really tickles this Pittsburgh native/30-year DC resident!

Acute knowledge of fashion industry and niche corners of entertainment industry. His access to and following from Hollywood actors like Sarah Jessica Parker and Channing Tatum are an interesting context to consider when hearing his perspective.

I started following a Evan on IG and was so happy to see he had a podcast. Great listen!

ERK always has a way with words and I feel like he is genuinely invested in every guest that comes on. It’s such a delight to listen to this podcast and I love the questions that he asks!

Every episode is both easy to listen yet so interesting that I don’t want to miss a word. Evan asks some of the strangest and most specific questions, which I LOVE. Unlike any other interviews you’ll hear with these folks, then genuinely sound like they’re have a great time, every time.

Shut Up Evan gives his audience some of the most authentic interviews with celebrities in a podcast genre. While I got hooked on his queer and queer icon celebrity guest list, he is so well prepared with thoughtful career background reviews and targeted questions that allow his listeners to be present in the conversation. He provides a space for his guests to comment or share any other piece of information that wasn’t covered during the episode-a nod to his character as a human being.

Evan does such a good job of making us feel like we are right along side him, chatting with the guests he interviews. The rapport he has with guests feels so relaxed, which results in the most fun and honest interviews. They all seem to love him, and what a difference it makes.

Shut Up Evan is an essential listen for anyone who cares about the world of pop culture. I always feel like I’m out to coffee or drinks with his guests when I listen to an episode. It’s richly entertaining and completely different from what else is out there, making his podcast a go-to podcast in my rotation. It truly is Evan’s world and we’re all just living in it. Which is fine. He’s asking the questions we all want to know the answers to, but might be too afraid to ask. He goes for it every. time, boldly and unabashedly. I would say we need more podcasts like Evan’s, but that’s what make him stand apart from the pack. No notes.

Evan has elements to his show that you don’t see on other podcasts: 1. I love how his guests get to add their versions of “Shut up, Evan!” - can’t wait for the montage of them over all the seasons! 2. I also love how he gets other celebs to submit questions for the guest - it breaks up the episode in a fun way and shows just how much he plans ahead! We see your preparation, Evan! 3. This is technically three things but all can be hard to find in many other podcast hosts: Evan is a great active listener, complimentary, and so knowledgeable!

Evan is such a great host and professional, with a great approach with his interviews and hello!? The guest on each episode is high level pop culture. Definitely a must listen!

I had to stop the podcast because I needed to rate and review the show. I agree with everything Evan has to say about and just like that. I can’t get this show out of my head. I can’t wait for the second season. I am of the same mindset they should just recast Samantha. I felt the same way about recasting general Leia organa in Star Wars. I mean her friend Meryl Streep could have played Leia. she already played Carrie in postcards from the edge. So what I’m saying is there Has to be another actress that could step into the shoes of Samantha Jones.

Evan is a terrific interviewer. He’s enthusiastic but also very thoughtful with his approach. This clearly puts his guests at ease and encourages them to really open up and engage with Evan in a way we don’t usually hear them in other interviews. Keep up the great work!

Evan is an amazing interviewer! Always leave the episodes having a better appreciation for his guests. He also allows the guests to be the star of the show and highlights their strengths while also offering great insight himself. Fantastic!

I really like this podcast but Evan is the only one you can clearly hear and adjust your volume for, unlike any of his interviewees. Take for instance the Jimbo interview was so frustrating trying to hear him I gave up and never finished.

I love this podcast but it’s too quiet. Have to max out my volume and still strain to hear. Content is gold, though, so you still get my five stars!!!

Five stars for the content but please fix the levels or whatever for the audio on the show. It’s very jarring to strain to listen to the show with headphones that can cancel noise with technology that I don't understand. And then hear a commercial that is WAY TOO LOUD. fix that and i would give you a sixth star. Also folks y’all need to pay for his Patreon it’s worth it. But this is my gripe.

i love how respectful he is when asking questions, making it known that no one has to answer anything that makes them uncomfortable. i wish more interviews were handled this way. it makes the interviewee actually feel like a person & the conversation flows much more naturally. keep on keepin on :)

I could listen to her forever. Rose McGowan has a brilliant mind and is an inspiration for not merely overcoming trauma, but taking it head on, devouring it and coming out expanded. You can tell she is at ease being interviewed by an old friend and this pod is moving and also full of delicious humor. A must listen!

I just finished listening to one episode and am so grateful that Evan let the person he was interviewing SPEAK. I’ve tried other interview podcasts where I really just wanted to learn more about that person, but the interviewer would talk over them, try to finish their sentences, or talk more about themselves. Nice job, Evan!!

How can someone have so many opinions and be so blatantly correct about every single one of them? No like… how is it possible, biologically? Its probably the same gene that makes public figs trust him more than their own therapists. Honestly? you should too.
