    Keep it going.
So just asking …if we need to be educated on avalanche safety then why does it cost $500 plus to go to a class and there all sold out … shouldn’t there be a government program that helps us get educated??? Just a thought .. keep it up love your podcast ..ps I’ve been a Gaia member for yours…. Love it …

Went off the rails with a UFO crank
I liked this podcast, until they decided to credulously give a UFO crank a platform. I love backpacking, but I want information from people who think clearly and understand cognitive biases and how easy it is for humans to fool ourselves. Next they’ll be peddling some “natural” or “homeopathic” bear spray they were convinced by a con artist works to hikers. No thanks, unsubscribed.

    Decent podcast/total ad for Gaia
Stories are interesting but it’s too bad that they are all flagrant ads for Gaia.

    Stop the Politics
Please stop including political issues (ie. climate change) in your podcasts...just focus on questions specific to the skill of the guest...none of these guests are experts on the climate...and furthermore the fact they pay China (the worlds worst climate killer) to climb mt Everest is a joke. You ruin the podcasts the moment questions get political. I’ll consider canceling my Gaia subscription/and podcast if this keeps up. You ruin a perfectly good podcast...just like the NBA has ruined its product.

    Lots of granular info
Not just individual experiences but also info from the various agencies that keep hikers safe. I learn a lot. Shanty is a really good interviewer. The apparently great editing keeps the interview quick and crisp

    Thought provoking
An interesting mix, from outdoor geographical and technical information to introspective and emotional experiences. Makes me reflect on my own life and dream of outdoor adventures where only my Gaia will know the way.

    Super helpful and interesting

    New Favorite Hiking Pod
This is my new favorite hiking podcast - replacing Backpacker Radio who now sits at second! The host asks great questions and let’s the guest talk in detail which is key for me. Only on episode 15 and he has had incredible guests - excited to see who he has next! Keep the diversity coming, please!

    Stalker
First, of all, I’m sorry Mary had to experience Carl. Yet I’m a very curious person. Maybe Mary can still help take him down. Not that Mary wants or has to relive Carl, but his behavior was likely addictive. Since Carl had no consequences for his harassment of Mary, I wonder if he continued to harass other people? Since some time has passed, I wonder if Carl continued to stalk? Did he become more bold and assault anyone? I wonder if anyone listening to the podcast from the Tahoe area, *knows* of Carl? I wonder if there were a police reports search in the area, if Carl would surface?

    The APT
Great to hear about Rues Vision for the trail and all he’s been through.

    Interesting-ish
Great topics, very qualified guests with valuable information. Host seems frequently unprepared, meandering, disjointed conversation. Talks too much about himself.

    Great outdoors podcast!
Like someone else said, the host will make or break a podcast, Shanty does a great job with this podcast, guiding and asking the guests questions. So far he has hosted some fun and interest people, keep it up! I’m glad they will be coming once a week now!

    Not EVERYTHING is awesome.
Please can we have a moratorium on the word awesome. Every time the person being interviewed speaks, the response is “awesome.” Go a little deeper.

    Shanty is a great host!
There’s a lot of good backpacking/thru hiking podcasts out there, but the host almost always makes or breaks the show. Shanty is awesome and knows how to ask good conversational questions for guests. Really enjoying the content being produced here!

    Top Notch Guests
I’m enjoying listening to these incredible people who are living life wide open. It’s inspiring to hear what went right, but also what went wrong, and how they overcame the obstacles. The variety of different adventures and adventurers will keep me tuning in.

    Inspiring and Honest
I really appreciate this show for its good questions and ability to get into details while still being open enough for those of us listening from outside a thru-hiking experience. Can’t wait to listen to the next episode!
  • 2old2crow
    Very motivational
Two things Anish talked about that changed my perspective on failure is how fear of failure can restrict us. She spoke about “Failing isn’t the worst thing that can happen. Worst than failure is that you will never know.” And “Failure is not final.” Really enjoyed the program. Very motivating. Thank you, to Anish and Shanty.

    Great Anish Interview
Found you from Anish’s F. B. Really enjoyed the interview. You were well prepared, organized and your questions were spot on for me. Can’t say that for all hiking podcasts. One I listened to just babbled and talked over his guest. Thanks and I look forward to more

    INCREDIBLE Podcast
Shanty is an awesome host that knows how to ask authentic and thought provoking questions to guests who have striven and achieved what might seem (at first) impossible. Highly recommend giving this a listen — fair warning you may want to do a thru-hike after listening.
  • jbarr8212
