stormietteBob Dylan Haters UniteThank you to the guys for rereading The Dark Tower series so I don’t have to 💜 A funny and insightful deep dive into the works of Steven King that perfectly exemplifies the love/hate relationship so many of us have with his works. Why is he like that? The hosts try to answer this question and more!

Rf industriesThank youThis show gets me through my work days and I’m so glad to listen to two guys discuss how bob dylan is clearly trash 😂 facts!
-
PerrsunI was rightWhen the last Dark Tower book came out I actually felt the ending was fitting. I am glad to, after hundreds of hours of podcasts, have been justified.

IblisLivesCastle Discordia St?In case either of y’all were looking to move to the Houston, TX suburbs anytime soon (I don’t recommend it), may I interest you in a house on Castle Discordia St in Katy, TX? I came across it recently at my job - I’m sure no horrors will befall you there! Just around the corner is Rose Trellis St, Stone Tower Ct, Gilead St, and the most atrocious (by my reckoning): Crimson Flagg Ct. Would give more than five stars if I could, no one does it like y’all

BBBBBBBBSSSSSSSSSHaven’t stopped listening since I heard about itInteresting, thoughtful, hilarious, and weirdly soothing? Wouldn’t have thought I’d want to listen to two men w/PhDs review SK novels before I fall asleep at night, but here we are. Highly recommend

Captain InSeanoI may be driving myself madI found this podcast from multiple recommendations on other podcasts. I decided to binge the whole thing listening back to back while working in a machine shop in rural New Hampshire. I’ve listened to 8 hours of this a day for the last week and a half and it’s now all I talk to anyone about. I’ve driven off friends, my family worries about me. I’ve stopped caring for my children or myself. There is nothing else but Just King Things. I do this for only one reason. I do it for Steve.

AdminDefaultThe year is 2010……the country is reeling from the carnage of the rescission and the death of Leslie Nelson. I am 14 years old and reading my very first Stephen King novel: Cell(2009). I recall thinking the book was okay. I am very excited to find out in spring 2025 if my opinion was correct.

Territory Jazz JrNow That’s What I Call a PodcastI’ve listened to every episode of Just King Things and although doing so has not compelled me to read a single page of Stephen King, it did get me to read Michael Wehunt’s Greener Pastures, which is a phenomenal horror short story collection, and I am deeply grateful to the show’s hosts Michael and Cameron for recommending it once, probably many years ago at this point. 5 stars.

AriksayFound My Book ClubI started to read Stephen King this year and I had so many thoughts and no one to share them with. I am soo happy I found this podcast. It adds so much to my reading journey.

farrell777For Steve! If I had a nickel for every time this podcast had an evil manta ray in it I’d have two nickels which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice

poussiereuxinspiring !i’m a huge fan of this podcast and its bonus episodes are well worth subscribing to. the hosts put so much into tracing the history of stephen king’s life and those in his orbit. i recently got to attend the theatrical premiere of The Stand in santa monica (yes i was there for 8 hours) which ended with a q&a with mick garris, who has adapted a ton of steve’s books, moderated by mike flanagan. i wouldn’t have known what a total genius mick garris was without listening to the bonusodes of just king things, where cameron often sings his praises. it was such a cool experience to hear garris talk about his work, including some of the stuff i also heard about first on king things! and yes afterward i shook his hand- i did it for cameron

Married to a SteveI do like Bob Dylan, thoughGreat critical review of King’s work. Can he be problematic? Yes! Do we love him anyway? Of course! My favorite podcast as no one wants to talk about Stephen King with me. 🙁

aj :l'chaim:Doin’ it for our darling boysJoined the patreon after listening to the hearts in Atlantis ep because Cameron said he would deliver some information that would ruin Michael’s next six months. Love the show!

sawyer sipesstevepicked this bad boy back up after a year and change of not listening by showing my boys the IT episode on a 7-hr car drive through california. i forgot about the racism and the homophobic stuff and the antisemitism stuff and the big pot of beans and me and my friends had a blast muttering “steve” or “stephen” under our breaths whenever he made a show of himself hitting his nuts in the stands. knocking somebody’s hotdog out of their hand. now i listen to the show at work and am really psyched about the dark tower stuff and might read it and wow there’s a lot of friends at the table sangfielle stuff in there i don’t recall if they mentioned it as a touchstone but it’d be a crazy coincidence anyway i hope you kooky boys are having a good time thanks for the podcast xoxo
-
Harlan!Highly recommended!Fantastic podcast. Has given me the uncontrollable urge to share Stephen King trivia (and then explain why I know it by plugging the show), plus it made me unable to hear Bill Skarsgård’s Pennywise as anything other than a Michael-and-Cameron-doing-a-bit voice. Hoo hoo hoo.
-
astarion_kissergreat podcastin the Shining episode one of them (I think cameron) said that The Shining getting a sequel would be like we got another Baldurs gate game and I just think it’s funny that both things happened . also great podcast

Strider72The Kings are about an idea...I'm still waiting for the analysis of the best gang in Freeside, but for now all the talk about this Steve guy is pretty interesting too.
-
Laser Sword ManiacConfused but optimisticA friend got me into this podcast so I could understand their love of homestuck and while (50 episodes in!) I'm not learning much about the works of Andrew Hussie, I assume it will all come together soon.

memmet_jFeeling seen, heard, and a little uncomfortableI’ve been listening to Ranged Touch productions for going on a year now and they are always a joy. When I started Just King Things I immediately skipped to the Pet Sematary episode because it was my first King book (read at age 11ish) and I just had to know if that loofah scene had stuck with people the same way it had stuck with me. Thanks to Michael and Cameron for validating me in that, for giving me hours of entertainment, and allowing me to appreciate the Kingiverse even when it comes to the books I don’t particularly want to read myself. Also shoutout to my grandma, who definitely didn’t have a clue what giving me my copy of Pet Sematary would do to my mushy little preteen brain. You’re a real one, Linda.

Bardcraft2012Just King Thing and my parentsThey both disdain Bob Dylan and enjoy Stephen King writing.

grimpy666Ever forgotten that you read a Stephen King book? This is the podcast for you! Two hours into a smart, engaging discussion of an unfamiliar Stephen King work, you too may remember that you read Hearts in Atlantis or The Dark Half two decades or more ago. Incredibly useful podcast. 5 stars.

laskowkA trip down memory laneWhen I was young (under 10), my mother, like every other white suburban boomer mom in the early 90’s, was deep in her King/Koontz/Crichton era. And me, being the curious child I was, would ask about the books she was reading, most especially the King books that had the interesting covers (in their plastic library dustjackets, of course). And so my dear mother would do her best to recount the plots of King books to small me, leaving out most of the less savory parts. Now, of course I didn’t realize how and what she was carefully tossing out during her retellings, so imagine my surprise when, at age 13, I picked up Pet Sematary at her suggestion, and read…the loofah glove scene. While I continued to read King throughout my adolescence, there was always a part of me that missed the more chaste and less deeply weird director’s cut versions of my mother’s. This is all to say, this podcast is a phenomenal trip down memory lane for me. And as a hobbyist writer, hearing King’s works broken down and discussed bit by bit, part by part, has been both helpful and just fascinating. I am so grateful for the work you do! Do it for Steve!
-
KeeGar1289Michael, still a darling boy after all these years. Oh, also Cameron is cool too.Very well done reviews of some of the greatest modern literature by an amazing writer. It’s awesome to hear these books (and sometimes films) broken down and dissected to such an intellectual degree that it’s become addicting to just finish the book to be reviewed as fast as possible just to get to the podcast episode actually discussing it. Can’t get enough of this show even with Patreon! Do yourself a favor and do it for Steve.
-
Prof.PuppyfeetGood StuffWhile I don’t always agree with their opinions on the book themselves, they give thoughtful, interesting & honest reviews that often highlight things that hadn’t occurred to me. Plus the Bob Dylan Hate warms my little heart. Keep doing for Steve ✌️

Kyle ConnorIt's Not Phantoms. You know what's sick? The scene in Phantoms (1998) where Peter O'Toole, is taunting an open manhole containing a god. It's a tense, cold, quiet scene that absolutely gripped me as a child, and I was curious as to what the hosts would think of it on its inevitable bonusode. Phantoms, I recently discoverd, was written by Dean Koontz. That's on me. The podcast is good.

Deelo-JinBook Club/Genre BuffetTwo brave and darling boys brave the best, worst, and weirdest from our collective uncle: Stephen King. This pod features great insight, renders academic terminology accessible, and is a rare and unique chance to take a long form examination of popular lit. Added bonuses include bits (never tedious, always coherent), regular displays of how to use every piece of punctuation, and one of the greatest inadvertently-assembled mixtapes of classical dad rock!

caliheitI am the target audienceThe perfect podcast for anyone that would rather read the Wikipedia article for a horror movie rather than watch the movie #bigredboots

YoungBatieI do it for beansContrary to Cameron’s scoffing that it could possibly be a real thing, “bean-hole supper” is a real meal that was crucial to Maine’s history as a logging community. In fact, the Patten Lumbermen Museum has been hosting monthly commemorative bean-hole suppers since 1965 as a site of education and celebration. I’m not gonna let you dismiss Maine’s beautiful bean heritage as a possible King fabrication. Oh no no no no no. I listen to this wonderful podcast for Steve. But leaving a review? I do that for beans.

casfreei will not read stephen king but i will listen to every episodewhile i cannot say that all of chumbawamba’s music is good, their last eight years and four albums are incredible. i spent most of last year listening to the album “the boy bands have won” on repeat and especially recommend “el fusilado” as an example of their late-career turn to acoustic folk. additionally, as a long time fan of eddie cochran, i’m glad to hear this podcast (and i suppose stephen king) giving him his due.
-
