I want to love the show, I really wish I could, but Kevin is intolerable. If he could stick to his script, I think it could be ok, but the guy just can’t help himself. The veneer hiding his politics fades every episode.

This is the Seinfeld of podcasts… about nothing, and not even funny . I read all of CASTAÑEDA’s books while in college… you guys apparently obtain your podcast script from Wikipedia posts ..

The ARt of sales calling. anytime the conversation gets interesting the host will put a kubash on it. Maybe bc they are afriad to get into potentially conterversial territory, which is ironic bc they are covering author's who continually pushed boundaries. Constant sales gimmicks talk with patreon exclusive content. make better show first than worry about your sales figures.

Kevin has become insufferably full of himself (coked up?) and Brad sounds like he barely wants to be there (I don’t blame him).

Kevin and Brad consistently deliver entertaining and informative episodes. Art of Darkness is a great podcast. Some would even say it’s the best podcast.

The title of this review comes from a comment from one ☝️ of the hosts. Brilliant, harrowing discussion of Cormac McCarthy’s “Blood Meridian” w/guest Aaron Gwyn. First time listener. I’ll be back. Intelligent & witty convo.

Great podcast, and I don’t really know of any others doing work like this in this space. Brad and Kevin bring a passion for art and dedication to thorough research of their subjects, who are the among the leading artists of the past few centuries (all safely dead), some who are well-known, some who remain obscure. Each episode is 3 hour deep dive into the subject’s life and how the circumstances of their lives drove their artistic creativity. Some of the subjects I’d never heard of yet found them incredibly interesting, driving me to engage with their works. Others were very familiar to me, yet new things came out in the podcast that I hadn’t been aware of. I highly recommend this podcast to any devotee of the arts, the way they weave the biographical elements of the artists’ lives in with deep engagement with the works themselves will leave even devoted fans of these artists walking away perhaps with new perspectives. Also well worth the nominal Patreon sub to listen to the “After Dark” episodes that expound on the main episodes.

These 2 guys have a wealth of knowledge to share about many authors and have great sense of humor ta boot 😁Wonderful to learn about all this !

I wish I could give more stars since nobody else is doing a podcast like this; the episodes are very thorough and interesting. However the occasional culture-warrior jabs are boring and irritating.
