Betches Moms

404

They’re expensive, sometimes annoying and the best thing that’s ever happened to us. But there’s so much more to being a mom that no one really talks about. Betches Moms is a podcast that deals with all the real sh*t that happens - like what to do when your toddler figures out TikTok, the fact that the baby’s not the only one who has to wear a diaper after birth, or your mother-in-law constantly criticizing you for eating carbs or drinking coffee. Relax, it’s decaf. Hosts Aleen Dreksler and Brittany Levine share stories and insights, interview guests, and have honest conversations about what it’s really like being, and becoming, a mom. They may not be experts (that’s what the expert guests are for) but they have plenty of opinions and life experience to share. Each week they answer questions about the sides of pregnancy and motherhood that everyone experiences, but you rarely hear about. You know, the moments in between those perfect looking Insta posts. So get ready to lock yourself in the bathroom (or wherever else you hide from your kids) and listen to this podcast. Because you’ll literally never be alone again.

Bring it back with new episodes!
I love all betches podcasts and love that I’ve been able to find podcasts for different life stages through betches media. This podcast was/is definitely one of my favorites and wish you guys would bring it back! Childproof is good but it just isn’t the same!

Annoying and expensive? Really? Tell me you’re a wine mom without telling me you’re a wine mom.

    What happened
Hi recently pregnant and sad to see no recent episodes since May. Maybe I missed memo but it appears pod is over. I’ll unfollow the podcast for now :(. Hope it continues

    I LOVE this podcast!
No one knows I’m pregnant yet (except my hubby), so I’ve been listening to this podcast daily to learn and get some reassurance. I started from some of the early episodes where Brit and Aileen are pregnant and I love that it feels like a chat with my girlfriends. They talk about the things I actually am curious about in a relatable way. I’m so bummed that this podcast has ended, but I still have plenty of episodes to go. Here’s to hoping they bring this back before I run out of episodes 😂

    3/5
A lot of useful info, however, the hosts appear constantly anxious and stressed out, which is not a good vibe for moms to be. I started having anxiety from listening to some of the episodes, so I had to stop for my own mental health.

    Division of Parenting Labor
One of the hosts does not have kids—how can she talk about division of parenting labor? Basically, I just don’t relate to what they are talking about. They act as if the mom does everything and the dad nothing. The dad works and the mom takes care of this kids. The reality for people is a lot of in between. Had to stop listening

    Sad!
Sorry but this is just not the same without brit & aileen!!!

    Toxic competition
Not crazy about the mom competition between the two of them. They probably don’t even notice it but in the mom guilt Episode it was constant comparing with products or experiences and how what one does is better than the other. It frustrated me and that is how mom shaming starts

    sad the podcast is ending!!!
i absolutely love this podcast- especially the episodes of aleen and brittany just chatting and catching up on life. Their conversations are somehow comforting and I am really going to miss them!!!!

    Sad it’s over :(
Loved this show. So sad it’s over. I hope they bring on new moms or do something to continue the pod

    Don’t go!
Was pregnant the same time as them and loved listening to them every week! So sad they are ending. My favorite episodes were of just them chatting about day to day. Made me feel not so alone and that I’m not the only one going through this. Will truly miss their weekly chats, felt like a meet up with other mom friends!

    Not a breastfeeding friendly podcast!
I have enjoyed listening to this podcast and was looking forward to an inclusive supportive mom chat, but unfortunately that’s not always the case here. Brittany and Aleen have had some fun and interesting guests as well as some good topics but this is basically just a podcast that aligns with how they are raising their children. I found it very hurtful for Brittany and Aleen to dismiss World Breast Feeding month as being somehow harmful to mothers or that the week is somehow shaming mothers that don’t exclusively breastfeed. I appreciate your honest stories and experiences but just because something went in a different direction for you two doesn’t mean you should shame other moms for celebrating their achievements. I am proud of both of them for knowing when to stop and do what was best for you and your babies. Please be a bit more considerate of those of us that choose differently and allow us to celebrate without just being told “oh that is so hard” and downplaying issues people struggle with. Consider having an actual IBCLC as a guest on the podcast since you have had The Formula Mom on twice.

    Speak into the mic
I want to like this podcast but the hosts keep moving away from the microphone so the audio is terrible - can barely hear half of the things they are saying, other times they get so close to the mic it hurts your ears.
  • LMA2021
Fine overall, but hit or miss
The episodes with just the hosts are my favorite - the interviews are pretty dull most often. I do feel like they only talk about their own experiences which are super similar to each other so it’s repetitive. Also fine if breastfeeding is not for you for whatever reason! But it is a big part of motherhood for the first year for a lot of us so it stinks that they don’t touch on it at all just because they didn’t do it. It would be great to have a lactation consultant on or someone who can talk about exclusive pumping, supplement feeding, etc. but they don’t because it doesn’t apply to them.
  • maddie@podcastingyou
    Amazing podcast!
Brittany and Aleen truly help you feel less alone with each episode! Such a great approach to motherhood and wonderful insights.
  • Mkd051015
    Light and relatable
Love this show - it’s light but very relatable, and addresses real issues moms of young kids face. The nonjudgmental approach to all the challenges of motherhood makes me feel less alone during this crazy time. I also appreciate that the show also occasionally addresses real world issues (culture and politics), as none of us are living in a vacuum.

    So good!
I LOVE this podcast! New mom here and this seriously helped me during pregnancy and postpartum. So thankful for all the tips, tricks, and advice from Aleen & Brittney because we’re all in this together 🙌🏼

    Meh I’d skip
I wanted to love this show - the topics and guests are great, but the interviews are just so bad. The conversations are dull and feels like they don’t prepare/ care about the guests.

    Betches Dad episode
I had to turn off.. if I heard another yeah!! She must’ve said yeah 100x in the first 5 mins!! I usually enjoy the episodes and really wanted to hear a dad’s perspective but couldn’t get through this one

    Feels like friends talking
I’ve been listening since this podcast began and I was pregnant. Had my baby very close in time to Aleen! It feels like I’m listening / chatting with my own girlfriends. I listen to this podcast on my dog walks.

Brittany and Noah are so cute!

    Hit or miss so far
It’s fine. I like both hosts personalities but they’re not experts and it’s mostly just anecdotes. I don’t like how Brittany sometimes portrays herself as an expert but give incorrect information. I loved the episode with the sister in law and would like to see more birth stories and first hand new mom stories. Maybe like some expert episodes and then some personal episodes. One change I would love to see is censoring or just not cussing on the podcast. We all cuss and it’s all fine and good but most moms listen to podcasts in the car with kids and I would love it if I felt like I could do that with this one.

    Prefer the no guest episodes
I really enjoy the parenting chit chat between Brittany and Aleen. It feels like my friends chatting to me about parenting worries and everyday life. I don’t love the episodes with guests. The hosts are much better at banter with each other than they are at interviewing and I haven’t found many of the guests all that interesting. I liked when there was one of each type of episode each week!
  • Traci Gallagher
    Brittany is FOS
You should have done your homework. Her crappy husband had sent text messages weeks ahead of that wedding she sooooooo badly wanted to attend saying he wasn’t going that he was golfing. Heard his passport has been taken from him by the IRS. They are both liars. They don’t have the money or have passports.

I love this podcast! I’m learning so much about pregnancy and motherhood and feel ready to enter the next chapter of my life with more ease and humor because of Aleen and Brit!!

    Makes me feel “normal”
Love this podcast! Found it when a former high school classmate of mine was a guest and now I’m hooked. I love hearing from all of the guests you bring on, but also enjoy the solo episodes! Some guest ideas: @kids.eat.in.color, @karrie_locher, @milestones.and.motherhood, @safeintheseat, @busytoddler, @mina_starsiak_hawk (I’m still catching up so I apologize if you’ve had some of them on already)
  • Timmyspax
    Obsessed
Love The hosts and all of their guests. Really like how it’s a combo of pros and social media influencers. The interviews don’t hold back and all corners of the subject are covered. Will probably listen to this up until my kids graduate

    Love these two!
I am pregnant for the first time and I am loving this podcast! The honest, vulnerable , funny, stories are much appreciated! Other reviews mention them not relating to middle class moms but I disagree I find helpful information in everything they talk about from a night nurse to registry items. Also I probably couldn’t afford the feeding or sleeping specialists that come on as hosts but that’s why my cheap a** is listening to a podcast to get free information! It’s great!
  • skranberry
    Way too Type A
I wanted to like this podcast but honestly every time I try to listen it just stresses me out! The hosts are clearly very Type A “career ladies,” which is why they’re successful, but their approach to parenting is definitely not everyone’s vibe. They seem so anxious about everything! Yes, parenting is hard, but it doesn’t have to be this terrifying. I feel like they overthink everything and resort to throwing money at expensive “solutions” instead of just going with the flow and embracing the journey. They also rarely acknowledge how privileged they are, which can be frustrating.

    Love love love
As a new (again) mom of 2 under 2 I love the perspectives and topics that are covered. It’s all so relatable with a fun spin, yet also informative. And I also don’t feel so alone while doing the SAHM life. Love you guys!

First time mom, the resource I need
I am loving this addition to betches and as I’m expecting my first, this was exactly the resource I needed! So many parenting pods are either dry or judgy as they take a strong point of view, but betches moms just presents info from experts as they try and navigate parenting themselves. I mean, yes, these are upper middle class / wealthy women and if that’s gonna be totally unrelatable for you then maybe this isn’t the podcast for you, but there definitely is an audience who appreciates convo about things like travel, what resources / products are worth it and which aren’t, etc.
  • kmcr0629
    Mostly relatable
Some episodes are relatable, some aren’t. I do like some of the guests. However, the Brittany and Aleen sound very blah and like they don’t want to be there, it can be very monotone and hard to listen to. However they are relatable as moms with worries/anxieties that come with being a new parent.
  • really just super annoyed
    Tone Deaf is an Understatement
Podcast in tone deaf and unrelatable in every way. Nannies and night nurses? Spending hundreds of dollars on a whim on useless things? And they’re not even going to address the formula shortage? I really did give this podcast a chance but the number of ads alone is enough to put me off for good. Huge disappointment to the Betches franchise.
  • julepasta
Love this podcast but not influencer guests
Typically love this podcast, I’m disappointed they brought the speech sisters on the platform. These type of Instagram accounts feed off of parents anxieties about child development. If your child has a speech delay it is NOT your fault, and it’s certainly not because you ask your baby “too many questions.” Children having been learning how to speak for centuries without these greedy influencers monetizing “tips and tricks”
  • kacie69mustang
    Feel so seen!
This podcast makes me feel so normal. I just listened to the baby lead weaning episode and I feel so much better. Aileen and Brittany ask exactly what I wanted to know. They make me feel so much less anxious. Great show! Thank you!

Feels Like I Have More Mom Friends
Overall, I love the podcast! I agree with another review that some advice isn’t helpful at all to middle class moms (hiring a sleep coach or a night nanny, buying a doona on a whim, etc.) I really enjoyed the latest episode with all the talk about eating because it’s my main stressor. My baby is 7 months old and we are doing a mix of purées and BLW. But I really, really hate the mess of letting her feed herself. I also feel guilty and concerned that I’m not giving her enough solid food. I’d love more food talk in future episodes, especially since my baby is the same age as Aleen’s. Keep up the great work, ladies!

Not even a mom but I still love it
I don’t even have kids and I still listen 😂 I love listening to Britney and Aleen chat, they seem so fun!

    4.5/5
Really do like the podcast!! I just really really wish it was geared more towards middle class moms. Some of the things the hosts casually mention/suggest are wildly out of reach for the average listener, myself included. Episodes on “what to look for in a nanny” or paying thousands for a sleep coach when most of us are just scrounging for the spare change to send our kids to any affordable daycare is out of touch. That said! I love the way they discuss parenting challenges, the hard parts, the joyful parts, and the discussions with experts. The formula expert was SUPER helpful as was the travel episode. Glad I get to listen every week :)

    Best moms pod!
Love the pod! Great convos and awesome guests. My only complaint is it only comes out once a week!!

    Fun--like hanging with friends!
Great podcast, felt like I was having coffee with a few mom friends! Looking forward to hearing some more! I like the segment "Am I a Momster?" So fun!

    Fun listen
Fun mom talk for those with little kids and great guests who are experts in their fields!

    Irresponsible misinformation
I wanted to love this podcast because I love Aleen and Sami in DST. The latest episode that describes a quick and rosy home birth was really disappointing. I completely understand that many women have enjoyable and successful home births, but this episode was rife with misinformation. The guest stated she pursued a home birth because of poor obstetric outcomes in patients of color. It is absolutely a true and tragic fact that POC have higher complications and mortality rates than white patients. This would be a GREAT topic to address with an actual expert… or at least someone with more knowledge than what the guest gleaned from a podcast about love and relationships. She actually said that black women have a “fifty fifty” chance at dying during birth at a hospital. Not only is this grossly inaccurate, but there is a much higher risk of dying at home. By the end of the episode the bottom line seemed to be that homebirths are the best option for black mothers. I imagine Aleen and Jordana’s ob/gyn mothers would be disappointed in this episode. I definitely think there is a role for including multiple perspectives of individual mothers, but I think that countering this episode with interviews with midwives, doulas, and physicians would be far more balancedAnd accurate. I would also really love to hear someone with expertise on the birthing experience of black mothers and disparities in medicine. At the very least, they should be careful to mention disclaimers about discussing any medical issues with a physician and admitting when guests are not indeed experts.

    Unreliable information and boring
I’ve wanted to like this podcast but it’s full of unreliable information and just doesn’t hold my attention.

    Love it!
I think this podcast is so fun and well done! Brittany and Aleen both do a great job of discussing what they are doing to raise their kids without insinuating that it’s the only option you have as a parent. I like that their guests are a mix of normal influencer moms and specialists. I also love hearing about their adjustment struggles and how to cope with the things a lot of people don’t consider when your discuss typical parenting, like anxiety about your dog lol. It’s great if you’re looking for a light hearted, informative and fun listen.

    LOVE these ladies!
I’m newly pregnant and trying to learn everything I possibly can. These women are so adorable and relatable. Their laughs are contagious. I had a podcast I listened to for years before, I was sad when it ended. Now I found this one and I’m listening to all the old episodes on my commute. Makes it go by faster!
  • wildemoon
    Not relatable
I love almost all things Betches, but I don’t find this podcast informative or relatable as a fellow mom. Discussions about the necessity of a night nurse, interviewing a nanny, and designing an expensive nursery isn’t something that I, or I’m guessing 99% or other moms can relate to. Unfortunately it is just annoying to hear the hosts complain about their privilege and these luxuries the vast majority of their listeners can’t afford. Having guests that are more relatable would be a more interesting listen. Or rename the podcast bougie moms.
  • Allye221
    Relatable
So relatable. I enjoy when they interview other but don’t have a lot of mom friends so my favorite thing is listening to Aleen and Brittany banter and have causal, honest conversation about early motherhood.
  • Pegvt5
    Not what I expected
Nowhere near as enjoyable as the betches moms Instagram. Hosts seem pretty out of touch and could stand to have more people on with different experiences.
  • lindsayFruns
    Hard to listen to
This podcast is really hit or miss but lately it is a lot of misses for me. I can’t handle promoting personal decisions as something that everyone should be doing & the recent episode about infant sleep & feeding was heartbreaking to me. Babies aren’t supposed to sleep through the night as infants & treating them like robots with schedules & depriving them of food isn’t a great recommendation! Night wakings the first year are normal & that should be acknowledged. Also, most women can’t afford a night nurse so discussing this as a solution seems out of touch.
