    Peter is deeply unfunny
"as a reminder" is a stupid way to introduce your show credits. It doesn't make sense. Otherwise the show is another media circle jerk.

Good but chill on the theme music
Pretty good show but man they over play the he’ll out of their theme music…. You don’t need to play it before and after each ad break. This drives me nuts.

    More of a MSNBC/liberal view
Its not bad as if its part of a wide media diet- Puck would be the view from the left. Important also to listen to media Podcasts from the Center, maybe Semafor, then also something from the right, like Megyn Kelly, in order to hear all perspectives and get to the truth. Puck has positioned itself as the prestige voice of left/progressive opinion. Puck covers basically same 6-7 topics, which can get tiresome. Listen to something in the center and on the right, to balance out your media diet.

    Waste of time….
    1) Puck missed the Biden rain dead story. 2) Puck ignored the R convention. 3) Puck said Musk was in financial trouble after buying Twitter. ( his net worth has tripled) 4) Puck was all in on Harris. Don’t waste your time. Total joke.

The expert Guest says that they don’t know?
I just spent 30 minutes listening to an expert say that Trump is unpredictable and so he has no idea what might happen. Thanks for the invaluable insight!!!

    Another liberal one sided podcast
Just what the world needed, another liberally slanted podcast on politics and current events. The host doesnt really sound plugged and his guests on politics seem to get their sources, talking points, and framing of issues, political races, current events from the left of center. There are already dozens of podcasts where you can hear the same thing.

    Don’t waste your time
Really lazy reporting, always very late to a story, and just an awful host who does scant to no research.

    Generally solid
Just finished listening to the post-debate show -would have been much better if someone wasn’t eating while talking. Needless to say, it was distracting and unprofessional.

Love the Show; Endure Hanby’s mispronunciations
Really do love this podcast as part of my daily morning. I’m wishing Peter Hanby will learn how to pronounce Schadenfreude…. Hard to believe that wasn’t pounced on during his Vanity Fair years.
  • whatup22222
    Lazy propaganda
It’s lazy, not even compelling, propaganda. It’s distinctly left, sure, but mainly just Washington blob propaganda.
  • Broshaughnessy
Not current enough for a daily news podcast
These episodes being recorded hours to days before release has become a problem this past month. Especially the Monday episodes.

    Biden coverage
BORING… NYT CNN PUCK… Need More Julia Ioffe!!! World view NOT popular view
  • Mb546
    Too one sided
I have been listening for a while and tried to give it a chance, but this is too one sided, left leaning. Latest example is Ms Loffe as your expert on how the world views the US and Biden / Trump? The world fears Trump and the end of democracy in the US and elsewhere? She is soo one sided. You need a balanced viewpoint. I travel the world for business and I get about 60-40 saying Biden is an embarrassment and they want Trump or anyone else but Biden, totally the opposite from her supposed reporting.
  • RyanBald
    Rampant biases
This podcast is very left leaning, especially while discussing anything involving US elections. Hamby attempts to dispel whatever the latest Biden gaffe was no matter how desperate or far reaching it may be.

    Awful
So glad I did not subscribe to Puck. You glossed over the glaring ethical issues in Will Lewis’ behavior. You call yourselves journalists?
  • millennialintech
    Beezos?
I’m an active subscriber and care deeply about the topics this pod typically covers. However, if you have someone talking about tech and they keep saying “Jeff Beezos,” it’s hard to take anything else seriously.

    Consummate Mediocrity
Honestly I don’t know why they bother. To sell a few ads? Clinging to the insider status that all corporate media hacks aspire to while posing as outsider upstarts. Episodes are too short to contain any insight yet they feel too long. I’m almost relieved when the obnoxious ads run.
  • 102ACE
    Good content. Poor host.
I’ve listened to most episodes of this podcast and find the guests very informative, but the host has become increasingly smug and grating. I find myself skipping it more and more.
  • statedept1515
    Bad on Israel
Reflexively pro-Palestinian. A slap in the face of those of us who can remember all the way back to October 7th and who started the events in Gaza. Idk if Puck News are staffed by anti-Semites, but the resulting coverage is unquestionably anti-Semitic. Unfollowing.
  • Nicknamesunshine
    Julia I is incredible
The most straightforward, smart and honest journalist anywhere let alone on Puck. Agree with comments re: the host of TPTB. I just fast forward during his portions.

    Once or twice a week it’s worthwhile…
Imagine an intersection of Hollywood, Wall Street, Silicon Valley and Washington. There’s a cafe on each corner. Puck hangs out in the Hollywood cafe 3 to 4 days per week. Not completely without interest, but it’s media types talking about media types. Most of the considerable talent at Puck doesn’t get enough exposure on this show. Julia Ioffe, Tina Nguyen, Bill Cohan and Baratunde Thurston need to be on more. Those are the episodes where I get information that sheds new light.

    Echo Chamber
The hosts and guests of this podcast were obviously come from the same Ivy League/media elite circles and the guests never challenge the worldview of the hosts. Skip any episode about Israel/Gaza.
  • @Deanie
    Varsity Blues
Bill Ackman may be outspoken and often hyperbolic but the issues surrounding Dr. Gay are serious and matter a great deal to the university’s standing and academia reputation. The conversation made much less of concerns over her tenure, qualifications and performance than it did criticizing Mr. Ackman’s for speaking out about it. If the Harvard Board is continuing to support Dr. Gay, even in part, because of what a hedge fund manager says, that is clearly not acceptable. It also gives the impression he has more influence than he actually has ‘in real life’. The Board needs to make it abundantly clear, that for better or for worse, their support is not beholding to high-profile constituents, donors, or DEI criteria. Hopefully, integrity still matters. Time will tell if Harvard maintains its stature and prominence - a glib analysis doesn’t adequately assess the possibility of real damage.

    Finally unsubscribed
Strange giggling while discussing deadly serious topics… paper-thin, drive-by analysis of complex businesses… constant self-congratulation… that’s the “inside scoop that only Puck” offers? You could probably learn more watching CNBC for 15 minutes. Waste of time.

The Ivy League Presidents testify on C-Span
Like so much of Puck, many of its reporters need to focus on more than a snippet of a story that reinforce their hip/contrary worldview. Take the time to watch the entire 3 hours of the Ivy League Presidents’ testimony before the House Committee, particularly that of the hypocritical (Great Replacement Theory) Elise Stefanik. It may make a dent in some of your not fully informed suppositions.

    What happened to this podcast?
Why hasn’t Tara had an A block appearance for four months, yet she’s all over TV? She’s a premium talent for Puck. She should be front and center weekly.

    Jezebel episode …
It’s so odd that you have two men talking about this… for all ‘the woke’ pushback that exists - have to say this is a deep slumber take on Jezebel. To have two men talk about this is - not just lame, but irresponsible. Womens mags are mostly dead and Jezebel had a shot at becoming a new voice and was for sometime.. and it’s too bad you can’t quote an article or articulate a moment about why it worked. Ben Smith even said it was pretty darn good… You also used the word ‘shrill’ which cracks me up… You also talked about a ‘lack of experience of these journalists’ - which feels off. When young male journalists rise up they are wundekinds … but here you demean the female journalists as rising too fast/too young. Do you hear yourself? I’m finally saying something bc I heard another episode here where two men were wondering out loud where all the top female media executives are and then without any irony said out loud - ‘huh, they all seem to have disappeared…’ I think they call that the actual glass ceiling? Right? What worked so beautifully about Jezebel - which really did outlast gawker - is women were talking to women as actual humans (and funny to boot) and not just a gender that was being trained as future consumers for advertisers. They couldn’t make it bc, it turns out - not only did most of these media companies die bc the ad model didn’t work - but bc there isn’t some billionaire tech female who will buy this … it’s all men. And men don’t get it. You two clearly don’t. It’s just odd. Can you guys see that you are being deaf here? I’m an old lady (a performative turn of phrase but im not jezebels demo) and I’m not trying to come at you - I’m trying to have you take a moment and think about how you’re talking and what you are saying..It lacks nuance, complexity and real thought and sure, your sexism is showing. This is what sexism looks like.

I listen to a lot of episodes
This brings in Puck’s journalists to chat about their latest thinking and writing. These people all have deep experience in their beats. Puck is a different kind of news model. Each writer puts out a newsletter. Puck talk about it being the overlap of money and power in industry and govt. it’s more than that though. I originally came for Baratunde Thurston (us as people) and Julia Ioffe (Europe Ukraine) but stayed for the others - great voyeurs of America.

    What
I don’t understand the chuckling during the podcast about the Israeli war. I really don’t. Can’t you not be obnoxious for this subject? Where does the chuckle even come from if there’s any kind of appreciation for the subject matter

Too much blame misplaced on Licht
Your show discussing Licht on June 19 was uninformed. One of the problems with CNN that you ignored is everyone must think in lockstep with their ‘talent’. If K Collins is the future of CNN, they are finished. Her morning show was a disaster. J Tapper was a failure at 9 and she will be too. CNN doesn’t meet the definition of news. Mostly what they do is give liberal points of view, whine and bash republicans, and rarely allow a conservative point of view to be expressed. They mock Trump supporters. Anderson Cooper apologized to the audience for the Trump Town Hall. He understood if they never watched the network again. Trump is newsworthy and clearly a lot of watchers agreed. CNN owes its viewers an apology but that’s not the one. CNN should apologize for its bias. A more fitting slogan would be, One of the Least Trusted Names in News. The ratings bear this out. Listening to this episode made question your journalistic skills.

I want to like this but…
Peter makes it unbearable. It’s time to grow up and stop acting like an arrogant fraternity boy. His schtick is unprofessional and tiresome. It was great when he was away for two weeks. Since he has been back I haven’t gotten past the five minute mark. If I hear “catch you in the slack, man” one more time, I will unfollow.
  • Kyle Deladien
    Reaaally want to like it!
I really want to like this podcast! The topics and items covered are right up my alley. But I find myself starting it every day and almost never getting through a whole episode. I have to turn it off… because of Peter (sorry!). It was a dream when he was on his honeymoon! The bro-iness and cockiness and the desperate attempt to appear “down the middle” gets to be way too much. Catch you in the Slack, man. 🤙🏻

    Fashion?
Why did this become a fashion podcast? I get a segment every couple of weeks, but it’s like every other episode now. You ruined something that used to be pretty good. Even Hamby sounds bored when he’s forced to talk about this.
  • RasheedSabar
The host is a turn off
Host’s attempted at “low-key bragging”, not so subtle flirting with the guests, strong “yo-bro” vibes just from listening to 2 episodes. Gross, and a hard no.
  • Willythepitbull
    Stop saying “like”!
Beyond annoying that educated adults can’t stop saying “like” every three seconds. All the contributors do it but Peter Hamby is the absolute worst. I counted seven “likes” in one sentence this morning. Tara Palmeri is really bad as well. Listen for yourself, between that and the vocal fry, I just can’t do it anymore. Jumping ship on this pod. Plenty of grown ups to be found elsewhere.
  • pachreik
    Interesting idea, needs new host
The guests that are brought on are interesting to listen to- but the stories that are covered tend to be dated by 4-5 days. It’s a podcast, keep up with current events. No one wants to hear a news podcast about stuff that happened last week. Additionally, Peter Hamby has a somewhat shallow understanding of politics on the left. He did a story on Katy Porter’s senate bid and completely neglected the mention how much outrage there has been over Dianne Feinstein’s behavior, obvious cognitive decline, possible signs of dementia, etc. A shallow reading of the story

    It’s NewsCorp, not NewsCore
I’m a faithful fan of the Puck podcasts and its talented journos, but SMH whenever I hear one of your stars, like Dylan Byers, refer to NewsCorp (with a pronounced “p” at the end) as “NewsCore,” apparently mistaking the abbreviation for corporation (i.e, corp), as corps (as in the Marine Corps, which is pronounced core). Not picking on Dylan, because I’ve heard other prominent podcasters and broadcasters do the same, including, I believe, the estimable Scott Galloway, of whom I count myself in his legion of admirers.

Every episode - “MSNBC-types” or “NPR tote bag carriers”…find a better way to say what you mean.

    self-absorbed
Too much self-promotion in their podcasts. Also, took the glib road and missed the story on Semafor, which sold out the reporter for Chevron money. Work harder

    As Good as It Gets!
Excellent podcast! Every episode is well sourced, well produced and interesting. Great mix of the most important stories and issues shaping our national discourse. In addition, it provides unique insights from Puck’s cadre of best-in-industry journalists. It’s the first thing I listen to each morning.

    Meta is protecting us?
Media-centric podcast with all the liberal bias you might expect (and I'm not 100% sure they realize how much it comes across). I appreciate most of the smart voices on here, but I really don't like Hamby's "interview" style in which he talks more than his guests and often interrupts to make or finish a point. Sometimes raising his voice to literally shout down the other person until he's done. Hamby really need to check that. And as insult to injury taking Meta/Facebook ad money to let them hawk their "privacy" and "we really don't like disinformation" PR on your podcast is fairly offensive. Their passive amplification of toxic content to their users is well documented shouldn't be something Puck facilitates. I know that sweet FB money pays for the lights but is there NO ONE ELSE who is willing to place ads against your reporting? Reason why I unsubscribed.
