    Stay with crime
I don’t listen to true crime podcasts to hear about the podcaster’s political views, either conservative or liberal. I listen to get away from the constant onslaught of politics. Too bad this podcaster can’t stick with the true crime genre.

    Funny & interesting
I’ve read all his books and followed him for quite a while now. Have always found his writing to be really unique and now that he has this podcast/YouTube channel you get to see a different side that’s very funny and interesting with his own Take on these unique cases. I suggest y’all at least check it out.

    Just NO
It is pretty clear right out the gate you have no interest in true crime only your own personal/financial gain and honestly you’re not funny with whatever jokes you try throwing in.

    Quality just takes a dive
In 2022, once he starts YouTubing, the audio quality just takes a dive. On top of that he starts taking these super loud gross drinks during the recording and after he comes back from his break in the middle he has to shill some hot sauce brand. The jokes that I used to kind of chuckle at just get terrible. Not terrible in a bad dad joke way, but just dumb. The last straw for me was when he said that Ashley Biden’s stolen diary SHOULD be covered by news outlets. This isn’t a government lap top, this is someone’s private diary that was stolen.

Is this podcast good? It’s Renner!
James Renner is a controversial figure. But in a world of wishy-washy observational podcasts, he dares to bring opinion and to do investigation like no one else. Self effacing and with a great sense of humor, he keeps this podcast, informative, and entertaining at the same time. Honestly, no one does it quite like him. If you are in the market for a nice, short, easy listening, yet dramatic true crime update weekly, this is your show.

    Excellent True Crime Podcast
I look forward every Friday to James Renner’s True Crime summary podcast. It is an excellent recap of the week’s events and gives you the bigger picture. His wry wit makes it even better. Definitely gives you insight into all the crazy out there!

    Different and beautifully written.
Thank you, James! Also…love the new artwork!

    Renner is awesome
Just updating review for boost. It’s the only news I like. He’s a top notch researcher because I haven’t even heard about a lot of the cases. lol @ “ it’s a public service announcement really” but yes it is! Glad you are getting that boot off soon and get your freedom back and hopefully will be healed up nice. Thanks James for all the things.

    Too liberal and too political.

    James Renner
I have great respect for James Renner. You can tell he is a good guy. Love the show, wish it was longer. Funny and on point, informative, interesting. Anyone who dislikes him, I’m convinced is a sheep to their politics, or is swayed by others opinions However he takes too many weeks off. Although I’ll admit that he has to do these recordings live as to says, and can’t record multiple podcasts in advance and release them when he is taking breaks. He deserves bread but I don’t want him to take breaks. I want him to renounce all other worldly connections.

James does a fantastic job as always, I love the quick episodes and his commentary (and dad jokes…)

    Love this podcast!
James gives me the updates from the week that I’ve not had time to listen to individually. Thanks, James. I’ll keep listening as long as you keep rolling ‘em out!

    One of my faves.

    He's Back!
So glad you came back to help keep us in the know about this crazy world. NPR, CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS and dare I say, FOX, watch out James Renner's on the news hunt. And by golly------he's darn funny, too.

Just started listening after reading a few of James Renner books
If you haven’t read his books, I HIGHLY recommend “Little Crazy Children” - I listened on Audible. He’s open

    High quality show
I didn’t think I needed a true crime weekly update until I started listening. James is smart and entertaining. I always learn something

    One of my favorites!!
I’m a huge fan of Renner’s other podcast, Philosophy of Crime. I have been listening to this one since he started it, and he always does a great job! Highly recommend!

    Done with this podcast
Well, I think this podcast has decent content and I like the narration style, but I’m so sick of the politics being put into everything. I listen to podcasts to get away from politics. If I wanted to listen to politics, I’d listen to a political podcast. Enough of this, I’m over it. Moving on to podcasts with just the facts.

    True, Relevant, Hilarious
Just like the title says- it’s really one of a kind in the best way!
  • zazulugulu
    Top notch pod
Just right bit of humor with plenty of facts to back up the true crime news of the week. Best way to stay in the know.

This is the one podcast that I listen to every episode. Love it!

    Used to be interesting but….
Not so much anymore. I think he’s a good journalist but let’s others’ opinions get too much in his head. Do your stuff, talk to us, that’s where you shine. Either ignore the negative criticisms or don’t do a podcast. I want to hear facts and your thoughts not bellyache about Conservatives posting mean reviews. Later James. Much later
  • GOOOOOOOOOY
    Longtime disappointed fan
While I have read & listened to all of JR’s work, I disagree with some of his theories. I don’t like some of his thoughts on Maura, I gave him a pass on that. But his thoughts on Billy on this podcast is almost the last straw. Those opinions probably should have been kept to yourself, and honestly makes me question JR.

    Informative and insightful.
While this is different and more breezy in tone than The Philosophy of Crime (which I love), I find that it is the first podcast I look for on Friday mornings. BTW, Mr. Renner, I also live in West Akron, (near The Elms) so I consider you a neighbor I have not yet met!

You got to got to gotta gotta listen
James has always been an incredible writer, a combo of compassionate and witty. It’s fun to see his lighthearted side come out on this weekly show. Sometimes I wish it were longer to allow more cases to be discussed. Keep it up James!
  • charlese26
    Great
Look forward to the true crime roundup each week.

    True Crime and Truth
James always inspires thought. Whether validating your own opinion or agenda or challenging you to listen and consider an alternate viewpoint, he delivers a commentary that reflects his own truth and experiences that are heartfelt and honest. I often agree with James, but even if I don’t I know I’ll always agree with his deliberate effort to promote facts and insight where others simply speculate. Give him a listen. You just might learn something new.
  • Shoopdawoop craziness is king
    Insightful and Intelligent!
I look forward to this podcast every week to keep informed in an extremely smart, current, sensitive and witty way. I listen to quite a few true crime podcasts, watch documentaries and read books but I learn at least a few new things each week and I am even presented with different ways of looking at things. I highly recommend it!

    Thoughtful
Excellent Podcast. I find James to be thoughtful, his opinions well considered, reasonable. I look forward to Friday mornings for his take on the week and to hear a non biased reporting of interesting events and happenings.

    Victim blaming
Get out of the true crime space. Creating more victims, disgusting
  • cookinmama_66
    Do better
You, are part of the problem. Stop victim blaming, hold Billy accountable and DO BETTER
  • Bree Styles
    Do not support this creator
Disgusting behavior by the podcast host. When you make true crime content you should tread lightly and always make a conscious and deliberate effort to do right by the victim and their loved ones, because at the end of the day you are profiting off what is the worst thing to ever happen to them. This creator not only disregards that responsibility but has then gone on to taunt family members of a victim online. It’s truly appalling and hurts the community as a whole. I will not be supporting this creator in anyway going forward and I think the true crime community should do the same.
  • Seriouslywiththisnicknamebiz
    Disrespectful
Previous listener that will stick to other shows now. Once a victims family asks you to NOT speak on their case, you should listen. This is a community that is meant to help, not hurt.
  • Frankie Bigs
    Great For Non-True Crime Fans
James alone is an engaging host that makes you feel like you’re having a conversation with him, but the show itself is an entertaining sampling of the True Crime world. I don’t follow this subject matter at all and don’t particularly care for it. However, James makes it easy to shallow and even includes a spoonful of sugar in the form of celebrity crime stories.

    Great Podcast!!
I listen to a variety of different podcasts to help me get through the work day while working at home! Thank you helping me keep on task, James!!

    James Renner remarkable reporting.
I like that he has returned to his “roots”. He is a phenomenal storyteller. He writes great books and is bastion of true crime research.
  • Laurel Paliatina
    Love this pod !!
Renner has to be celebrated for his dedication to truth. He is not beholden to anyone and that’s what makes him a great investigative journalist. Keep up the great work!!
  • Mikeytrexopop
    Renner’s star power
James is a true crime legend and his podcast reflects his high degree of expertise. A must listen for true crime genre fans
  • 54Silverback
    James Renner stole my dog.
Just kidding, the dog is missing but I have no valid reason to suspect James had anything to do with it. James is a self professed liberal progressive and the dog watches nothing but Fox News. No way they would actually get along. Mr. Renner does a great podcast though, in a very conversational style. I look forward to listening on my Friday morning walks. I’d also recommend his books too.

Another Great Piece of True Crime Content from James Renner
While waiting for him to write another book (come on James!), this podcast scratches the true crime itch. He goes over major true crime news, keeps us posted on new true crime podcasts, and tracks on ancestral/familial DNA cases.

    Avoid At All Costs
This guy is a creep. He is a vile human being who has exploited Maura Murray for his own gain.
