Visible Women with Caroline Criado Perez

Caroline Criado Perez has spent years investigating the gender data gap – and how women are simply forgotten in a world designed for men. Her best-selling book, Invisible Women, was published to critical acclaim, and Caroline was inundated with readers sharing their own stories of the “default male”.
In her new podcast Caroline investigates what happens next: how can we close the gender data gap and design a world that works for everyone? Caroline will hunt for missing data, get in fights with manufacturing companies, and find the people who are working to close the gender data gap. You'll hear expert guests, gripping stories, and plenty of inspiration.

    So good!
So good, dives into very important and under talked about topics. The pod is just as good as the book! I love the endometriosis episode - usually discussed in false or mediocre ways but you all covered it so well!
  • What a gorgeous voice!
    Must listen!
Absolutely one of the best podcasts out there- brining new perspectives to common issues and everyday life.

I've only listened to 2 episodes, but I love it!
So far, my favorite line is "no pockets, no purchase" I've recently come to the same decision. I bought a pair of leggings with pockets & before I knew it, I had a new wardrobe. It's a luxury I wasn't familiar with, you know? Access to your phone, wallet, chapstick... Anyway, this podcast puts thought provoking commentary on the ways women are still waiting to be treated fairly, and maybe even equal to men. It's done in an insightful way & one of the hosts had a delightful accent.

    Absolutely love
I mean it’s really one of the most important podcasts for today’s day & age. Got Completely hooked on the book. Podcast takes it to the next level. Go listen and tell all your friends.

    essential listen
every episode (and even ad) so far is a thrilling, infuriating, clarifying deep dive into the pernicious and pervasive problem of gender bias in all aspects of life — finally a new podcast that is actually worth the listen.

Thought-provoking and fun to listen to
Stumbled on it and really like it. Good production quality, good research and timely. Plus, host has a good sense of humor while not downplaying from the importance of the work.

Why is this not headline news?
The fact that 50% of the worlds population is disadvantaged and sometimes killed by systemic sexism is horrendous. PPE, medical research, car crash dummies - Caroline has done superb research and is asking the right questions. When will politicians wise up that there are votes in this and start demanding that these issues be addressed?

    A Breathe of Fresh Air
A critically important podcast for these times. Caroline Criado-Perez shares damning information about governments and corporations that will be costly and embarrassing for them to admit and address. Additionally, the truth about the differences between male and female bodies is going to make a lot of people uncomfortable. I can not thank her enough for putting herself out there as an advocate, and I love that she calls out others to take action.

Here for the facts … and sass
Did you know that women’s heart attacks are routinely misdiagnosed because the symptoms don’t present in women the same way they do in men? Maybe you’ve heard about car manufacturers using crash test dummies that represent male structure, size and weight distribution … and ONLY those. Until recently, there was no requirement to use female structured crash test dummies - and we now know that women are statistically more likely to suffer major injuries and even death in a car crash. These are just two points of gender data bias - and there are hundreds of thousands more that Caroline Criado Perez highlights in her book (and likely millions more that we don’t have data on). This podcast is perfect for everyone who has read the book and needs more - and it’s even better for people who haven’t read the book but are curious. No, it’s not man-bashing; it’s shining a flashlight on all the things we didn’t know about women before - because we didn’t track the data. It should be required reading for all engineers, designers, healthcare workers, educators … okay, everybody should read this and listen to the podcast!

    Inspiring!
Caroline’s work in raising awareness of structural gender bias in our everyday lives is so important. Each example she gives is a fascinating insight into how bad things can go wrong in the design of drugs, clothing or car safety, but more importantly she also talks about how to change things and the people who are actively working to do so. Listen to this if you have a mother, sister, or daughter. One day the world will be invented and designed around the needs of women, (men) and every body.
