College football in all its glory. Ditch the mainstream and break the huddle with The Solid Verbal. Since 2008, Ty Hildenbrandt and Dan Rubenstein have been shaking up the college football podcasting scene with their fun and unique blend of commentary. Whether you're a diehard or a casual observer, the show taps into your fandom with spirited debates, fresh perspectives, and segments you won't hear anywhere else. Recognized as trailblazers in the podcasting world, The Solid Verbal isn't just another college football show—it's America's College Football Podcast. Become a Verballer today and join thousands of others who don't just love college football, they live it!

Each week brings a new story and The Solid Verbal is your best national podcast to stay up to date as the college football rankings whipsaw from week to week. Every Sunday during the season, Ty and Dan help you process the whirlwind of college football scores from the weekend, breaking down the most impactful games, upsets, goofy moments and everything in between. Their weekly reaction episodes tap into the chaos of the College Football Playoff race and offer insight as NCAA football standings inevitably shift. They also turn over part of the episode to their listeners, who leave voice messages that are included on the show.

On Tuesdays, The Solid Verbal dives into the topics driving the college football news cycle. The show takes you beyond the scores to the stories, the strategies, and the controversies. The heartbeat of NCAA football is more than just numbers on a board; it’s the schools, the coaches, the players, and yes, the drama. The Solid Verbal dissects the things fans care about – whether the latest AP Top 25, major conference realignment, Michigan's run at another national title, or Notre Dame’s quest to wake up the echoes – and tries to make sense of it all.

On Thursdays, as anticipation builds towards the weekend’s action, The Solid Verbal serves up a sneak peak of the games ahead. From “home dogs of the week” to their “locks,” Ty and Dan try to figure out the latest college football odds. Though not a betting show, it uses point spreads as a way to offer important context on the week ahead. At the top of each preview episode, the show will cover the biggest games that are sure to drive the Saturday narrative. In addition, it examines the rest of the college football schedule through the lens of watchability and intrigue, and ranks the games around which you should build your viewing experience.

    Fun Podcast!
Ty & Dan are both funny and knowledgeable. They keep things fresh throughout the season, I really enjoy listening!

Can’t get you out of my head.
I don’t know if you guys are any good at what you do, but every college season all I hear are your voices in my house, being listen to by my husband. Oh, and he gives you money every month, so there’s that, too. 😁

Great combo of analysis and humor
Fun combo of personalities with good football chatter without losing the humor and joy of the sport. Great job guys, appreciate the content and the laughs.

    The Verballers!
These guys are great. Informative, passionate, and downright funny. Great show about all things COLLEGE football. Go Army; Beat Navy!

The horniest college football pod there is
Cinemax, Peter North, Growers not Showers, Dan and Ty constantly entertain with subtle reference and the best nicknames in all of sports media. They keep it light hearted but it’s obvious they do the work, actually watch the games, and are fans of college football. Can’t recommend this pod enough.

    Filling the gaps
It’s hard to know everything about every college team and these guys bring it with as little bias as I’ve found among analysts, including their own alma maters. They love great matchups, like most of us. Honestly surprised anybody in this space can have a rating this high given that rabid fanatics will always scream “bias!” when their own team doesn’t receive constant praise.

Perfect for CFB fans of all intensities
Came for the college football. Stayed because of the awesome show. Finally left a review because of the royalty-free polka music.

Suspect takes all along the “will it ever happen for ___” series. Wisconsin 2-3 years away from making the playoff, for example. Really? Let’s assume for a 14 team playoff, 5 teams from the Big 10 make it, being generous. We really think that in the new Big 10 Wisconsin is regularly going to be in the top 5, with OSU, Mich, Oregon, PSU, USC, Washington, and Iowa? And then they say similar things about Nebraska too? Really just seems like every middle of division team is “2-3 years away” in their opinion. Also seemed like they weren’t sure on who Oregons backup QB was for a minute, and hesitancy about other simple facts like who the favorite is in the Big 12 (erroneously said KSt when it’s actually Utah who they didn’t mention that episode) these make it hard to take them seriously at times. Kinda devolves in to “guys reading schedules” at times. Similarly, giving SCar a pass on expectations “because their schedule is hard”, without acknowledging teams like Tenn, Auburn, PSU, and UF that have similarly difficult annual schedules but much higher expectations. Overall, I listen when I’m at work and have burned through the rest of my regular CFB rotation, but it doesn’t qualify as “must listen” for me. Simply doesn’t add much imo.

SV is far and away the best CFB pod out there. Please do a deep dive into KU football and Lawrence. Leipold had performed miracles and deserves the recognition from SV. Thank you!

    Awesome Podcast !!!
I am an army retiree and currently I work as a contractor overseas and I’ve been listening to you for over 10 years now I believe. So, that means I’ve listened to you from so many different countries around the world. To a few, Afghanistan, Iraq, Italy, Germany, South Korea Morocco, India, Mexico, and currently Italy again. I love your show because of both of your knowledge. I also enjoy the comic relief and the insight that you provide. I really do enjoy your show and I will continue listening until you guys stop podcasting, which I hope will be never.

Like Listening to a Reddit Thread
I listened all through last season and this season, and loved it until around mid-December this year when the quality dipped. They could be reading r/cfb threads verbatim. Neither of these guys have any compelling access to college football, and the draw for me was that listening was like hanging out with a couple of friends. The goal seems to be monetizing as quickly as possible, and they’ve lost the plot a bit. Maybe the new direction just isn’t for me. I wish these dudes the best, but I’m canceling my Patreon sub for now. I’ll give a listen in August to see how it’s going.

    Five stars
These guys are smart and funny enough to rename the trophy between Iowa and Minnesota “Void of Pointsdale” and so classy they immediately retired it. Top tier independent media!

    An enduring classic
I’ve been listening to this show since just before the 2012 season, when my then boyfriend, now husband, introduced me to it. It’s been a staple in our household ever since. Three things make this show stand the test of time: 1. Producing - from the beginning, the audio quality of this show has been phenomenal. The quality from a production standpoint is a point of pride for these guys and it shows. Especially in the early podcasting days when this was a rare thing to see. 2. Fun - this show is the definition of having fun with it and not taking yourself or the world too seriously. The amount of jokes and vernacular this podcast has spawned is truly impressive (“Clemsoning”, “PAC12 after dark”, “the Cats bump”, and countless others). The format of the show changes regularly and is never stale, even 10+ year in to listening. 3. Relatable - Dan and Ty as hosts are incredibly relatable people. When I started listening, they were well informed fans who were passionate about the sport, but also not talking heads. Hearing about their lives alongside the podcast (the introduction of Solid Wife Kate, Dan having a baby, Ty’s new dog, the time when Dan did the show out of the clo-ffice before COVID was even a thing). They’re the guys you feel like you can get entirely too nerdy about the sport with in the office break room (be it specific games, transfer portal gossip, coaching changes, or literally anything else beyond actual game play), and feel like familiar friends.
  • The Huppster
    Love the show
My only complaint is that you brush over on G5 teams. Otherwise you have a great dynamic working together.

    In my weekly rotation
Best national college football podcast out there. They’re entertaining and do a great job covering the majority of games played instead of just focusing on the top teams/headlines. Great podcasters, mediocre gamblers.

    Excellent show
Been listening the last 3 years - enjoy the expert analysis and from this year the bad picks by Ty, humorous review of Iowa offense and rest of Big 10 west plus the death of the Pac 12 - keep up the good work and insight of college football

    Love this podcast
I’ve been listening to The Solid Verbal for three years now. Due to Ty’s persistent nudging to rate and review the podcast I am happy to say I am writing my first podcast review! I love the hosts work ethic and attitudes. I love how often they upload. I was on the periphery of college fandom but now I’m all the way in. They truly get me excited for the sports headlines and matchups, which is tough being a person without a college team. Lastly, I love how Dan lives in my area so we get a little weather update for the listeners around the world wondering if Evanston is sunny or rainy that particular day.
  • Muscamoot
    Feeds my college football fix
Excellent show. Two guys who know the college game inside and out but don’t take themselves too seriously. Quite frankly, so much better than all the Talking Heads on television.

The Only Podcast Worth Listening To
Been a big fan of Dan and Ty since the early 2010’s. Genuinely don’t ever listen to any other podcasting content throughout the week. Even my wife, who brings a book to the bleachers anytime I get her to a game, loves yelling along with Mike Gundy’s “I’m a man! I’m 40!” In the intro every time. Y’all have created not only the go-to place for college football content, but a community of Verballers where everyone along the fanatic spectrum feels at home and entertained. Keep doing what you’re doing (but please start playing the old Dude Alert sound again on occasion- it’s ridiculous and I miss it).

Grateful for my son turning me on to Solid Verbal, and grateful to Dan and Ty for providing such interesting and entertaining content. You rock!

    The Best of The Best!
The Solid Verbal is as good as it gets. Dan and Ty combine advanced knowledge with fun that suits the college football world perfectly. They just get what it is all about… the Solid Verbal matches the atmosphere of the game. PS - if you read this on the show, give a shoutout to Adam and his very solid puppies, Maizie and Zoey. They’re Michigan’s number 1 and 2 canine fans.

    Got me into college football
This season was my first really getting into college football. Besides following the 2019 gophers ( I’m a Minnesota fan and that was a special year) anyways this podcast has great hosts that are fun to listen to and is also very informative and is all you need to keep up to date with everything CFB. Thank you guys for making me a fan and keeping me engaged, I can’t see my life now without CFB lol 😅

    Waste of time
What’s worse that someone bragging about being first? Someone bragging about not caring about being first. Hates their colleagues/their field of work and it shows. Shames other reporters/podcasts for doing their job.

    Love these guys!
Started listening to Solid Verbal this year and it greatly enhanced my overall enjoyment of the college football season. Excellent in and out of season content! Thank you Dan and Ty for all of the amazing content and for cheering up this sad Florida State fan with the great episodes.

    Come on Football! Go Football!
2 humans talk about collegiate American Football. Humor(?) is used to make listeners excited to watch the local academic institution fail over and over.

The best dang podcast in all the land!
A visionary in the world of sports podcasts. Dan and Ty are the most creative, insightful and fun-loving podcasters in this world and in all of our parallel universes as well. Thanks for bringing my life so many rainbows and butterflies in the form of college football knowledge and nuggets.

    Absolute Must Listen
For several years Dan and Ty have kept me entertained and up-to-date with all of the news and games across the country. Where else can you get a patriot league recap while listening to a glorious patriot fife and drum soundscape? Look no further for your go-to college football podcast. Roll tide.

Great way to stay informed about the college football world
Been listening for many years now and I swear I left a review before but I guess not. There’s so much going on in the CFB world it’s hard to follow and break down. These guys are great, I love their goofy segments and sound bites and just the general vibe of the show. It adds a lot to my experience of the college football season.

    Best CFB podcast!
Dan and Ty have been a staple in my podcast rotation since 2016 (long time listener, first time poster). They easily and lightheartedly digest the rapid and mind spinning news cycle of CFB. As I have had less time to follow the games myself, I increasingly rely on this fun duo to help me enjoy the great game of college football. Give them a listen, you won’t be disappointed!

This Is Your College Football Podcast.
Your search is over. These guys do it right. I’ve listened to Dan and Ty since I was in high school. They’re production quality is unmatched and the way they run their segments makes things super engaging. They aren’t afraid to be genuine in their approach because at the end of the day, these two love this sport. If you love college football and want to see people go into detail and make an effort this is the show for you.

    Best college football podcast
If you love college football and appreciate a unique perspective and reliable humor, there is no better podcast. I I am regularly laughing out loud on a plan or in the car. I listen to a handful of college football podcasts, but I never miss an episode of The Solid Verbal. Although their in-season episodes are better than any other podcast, their off-season episodes are the highlight of my week. Thanks Ty and Dan!!! Keith CLTSportsDoc

    Appreciate the classical music!
Dan and Ty, there is so much I love about your show. You get so much right. The tone, the humor, the topics, the analysis. You are both top-notch. However, the cherry-on-top is your embrace of orchestral music audio cuts. I’m a classical musician and am hyped every time I hear Dvorak and Sibelius on my college football podcast. Bravo tutti!!!

    Dan Please
Learn to offer your argument and once made move on please. This system has never been perfect, it’s hard to believe you now just now realizing there are rules the committee must follow. By laws that have been in place for its entirety. When the horse dies Dan, you don’t have to keep kicking it. Its dead Dan, not breathing, brevity Dan brevity.

Best College Football Podcast I’ve Found
Two things make this podcast stand out. First, the hosts are unusually thoughtful, informed, and levelheaded. One gets the sense that they are earnestly trying to think out loud about, and reason through, what’s going on in the sport of college football (especially, of course, what’s going on on the field). I learn from listening to this podcast. There is no bloviating. Second, they seem to genuinely and deeply enjoy their work and each other. It makes the podcast fun to listen to. So, I learn from this podcast AND it has a good spirit about it. (The podcast’s engagement with Patriot League games alone is performance art.)
  • ABR48
    Often imitated, never duplicated. 5-stars!
I found The Solid Verbal on a “best of” list two years ago and it immediately became clear why. This show is impossibly fresh and unique, to the point where other CFB shows (The Athletic, Josh Pate, etc.) are openly copying their bits. The hosts creatively balance research and facts with humor to make college football fun and relatable. If you’re a college football fan, this will be your new favorite podcast.

    Standout Work
From a former sports media / broadcast professional - Ty & Dan exemplify prowess of their profound college football passion, understanding, and downright savvy. ‘Gameday,’ and ‘the Network’ #ESPN should take notice and have them guest. #PatMcAfee. Truly you gents exemplify the craft that any sports fan desires, craves, and defines ‘fanatic’ because we CAN NOT get enough of the ‘work’ you do - when you love what you do it is not work. THANK YOU BOTH! -TwoCathGoldenDawgs
  • Unserious Offense
    The Originals
The original college football podcast is still the best. Despite the changing environment, Dan and Ty do a magnificent job staying on top of everything that's going on around the sport, and most importantly, remain independent thinkers who don't just parrot the hot takes of the day. The shows are always entertaining, thoughtful, well-researched, and have the best sound and production value the "podcasting industry" has on offer. A timeless heavyweight with a focus on what matters in the sport and an oasis in the desert of sports media nonsense. (Go Huskies!)

    So downhill
This show has gotten really bad. Dan is so smug and needs that wiped off his ugly face. Just bad

    Fun, informative show!
The Solid Verbal is fun and informative. The show does a good job of embracing the culture of college football. The hosts are fun personalities. A must listen during college football season!
