backwithnatureBubble Hour GoldI am making my way through these amazing episodes. As a Boston gal on ep 6 I feel like I’m right there with you in that Jamaica Plain apartment. Bravo Jean and all the rock stars involved from the beginning. This is such a beautifully crafted tribute Jean.

KlegatskiSuccess!I owe my sobriety and my life to The Bubble Hour. I was looking for help over 4 years ago and when I heard Jean’s beautiful voice I knew I had found my home. I listened every day, sometimes 2 or 3 episodes at a time while I had cooking or gardening. I felt like I wasn’t alone and I was nurtured and comforted by all the stories. Thank you Jean!!

GinabritLife preserverI’ve been listening to this podcast for nearly 7 years. I’ll be 7 years sober next month and this show was an absolute life saver for me in early sobriety. It helped me to not feel so alone and gave me a sense of community even while alone in my own home. Perhaps one day I’ll be brave enough to come on and share my story. Thank you, Jean! You do a wonderful job and are so eloquent when communicating your thoughts and feelings.

yogoesFree in that wayThank you for such a perfectly timed episode. Summer drinking scenarios gave me deep reflections back to my days. Felt very familiar and personal. Loaded with nostalgia

mixedbreedlove11Awesome podcast for going AFI love this podcast so much! I quit drinking 3 months ago and have been consistently listening to help me feel less alone, since most everyone I know drinks. Along with an online support group I found this podcast has helped me feel supported and positive about my new life I’m creating. Thank you Jane for keeping this going for so long. I get so much out of it. Highly recommend if you’re interested in questioning the role alcohol plays in your life. And if you’ve already quit, for sure check this one out!

izzymom143So unbelievably helpful!I was referred to The Bubble Hour by a friend of mine in recovery as well. I started listening to this podcast in my first few months of sobriety and it was SO HELPFUL and provided me with such HOPE! I can relate to something said in each episode and it provides such a safe, positive and uplifting place to go to for women in sobriety or women interested in sobriety. Thank you so much Bubble Hour!

BrendaKateBubbling with positive energyI have been binging “The Bubble Hour” ~ and I just cannot get enough. Jean’s positive energy is contagious - I want what she has! Her guests to do most of the talking, allowing for an uninterrupted, candid story of what it was like, what happened, and what it’s like now. Each episode is like a great 12-step meeting. I get something - more than one thing - out of everyone’s shares. Jean is such a diligent host that she even reads all of the book’s that her author guests have written. I can see why this podcast is so popular. Check it out even if you’re just sober curious. You’ll get a lot of insight into the world of recovery.

Niniche032860Courage and Comfort in a PodcastI have been listening to this podcast almost from its inception years ago, when I first began to suspect my drinking was crossing a line from habitual to something darker. Shame kept me isolated and in denial. Then, I found the Bubble Hour, which offered a different way to address alcohol addiction from AA, the only model I knew of at the time. Slowly, gathering courage and comfort from this podcast and sober memoirs, I was able to stop drinking. That was almost two years ago. I am so deeply grateful for everything Jean has given to people like me. I credit her with saving my family, my marriage, and opening up my life again.
-
jessie from minnesotaTo the bubble hour!Omg this podcast has been with me for every Tuesday for over two years! From the beginning when I was sober curious and when I finally decided to get sober! To even know in my second year of sobriety it continues to give me strength and hope! Thank you all for all you do Jessie

cere girlCeregirlLove this podcast! Jean is so real and relatable! Part of my weekly program! As good as going to a meeting!!

Sacmd41Love it, wish audio was betterThis Podcast has been instrumental in my decision to start paying attention to my alcohol abuse and over-use. I always thought alcohol overuse fell into the AA category of joblessness, homelessness, and DUI’s, or you had no problem at all. Jean brings on guests from all spectrums, many of whom are stressed out moms who polish off wine every night like I did. thinking it’s all part of normal ‘mommy wine culture’ until it becomes a clear addiction. I love that she says very little and allows people to just speak their story. I do wish the quality was a bit better, it’s hard to hear at max volume in my car.
-
MuzzaFuzza2000Inspirational and AuthenticJean McCarthy’s voice has become a lifeline in my path to recovery. I’ve been listening daily and was led to this podcast through her blog UnPickled. This podcast in turn led me to resources, tools, books and other women who have gotten sober who give me hope. Thank you Jean and to the women before her, who have created a new movement of resources for women searching for help.
-
tturn00Mmm need moreI like this for the most part but would love to hear about how/why your family doesn’t know or engage you

BlondivaThe Bubble Hour is helping me change my life!It is giving me the motivation to escape the desire for alcohol by giving me an improved perspective of the negative impact of alcohol. I previously thought it was helping me relax and helping me sleep. I now realize that it was just causing me problems. I really appreciate this helpful podcast.

BbypsjdjdkJean McCarthy was instrumental in saving my lifeNo kidding. listening to Jean McCarthy over the years and we didn’t have blog has been my road to recovery and health. I have tried other things; and without her I don’t know that I ever would’ve gotten started toward alcohol-free living! I began listening to Jean McCarthy’s interviews on the Bubble Hour approximately two years ago. She would reply when I emailed her. When I met her in person at a “She Recovers” retreat, it was B beyond description how articulate, kind, wise and sincere she is. I cannot wait to read the new book she is going to have published this year! I also enjoy her blog, “Unpickled”.

Jpt47711Authentic, intelligent, and inspiring.I have been following Jean since the early days of her blog. In the world of sobriety, recovery, addiction, etc. , she stands out as a great resource and interviewer. Her guests offer perspective on recovery through their stories and insights. She is very honest and sincere regarding her journey and the podcast provides support for those that have chosen a path free of substance abuse. I highly recommend this podcast.

NgutheLife Changing MagicJean is the kindest and most generous interviewer who shares these vital recovery stories to those of us who need to know we’re not alone. A must listen for the sober or sober curious!
-
FontirGood stuff for the most partI like most of the guests and find the show informative and always relate to however I feel the last guest didn’t really have much of a problem with alcohol and for her it was just a trendy health phase she is going through like someone who gives up gluten.
-
sober jamieGrateful for the Bubble HourWords can’t express how grateful I am for the founders and for Jean who has continued this amazing podcast. They were there when I was searching for someone “like me.” They shared the hope that life could still be fun without alcohol! Boy were they right! Three years later, I am still one of their biggest fans! Thanks for being my friends (in my head) and support system when I needed it most! I am eternally grateful!!! Jean, you rock!!! Thank you so much for putting in your time, talent, and energy so that’s we can all benefit!!! You are such a gift! With gratitude, Jamie J (NJ)
-
PaintedLeafLandscapeHelpful & compassionateThis podcast has been helping me a lot to drink less with the ultimate goal of not at all. Jean is very compassionate and I find hearing other peoples stories very inspiring.
-
Maxarino87Thank you!Words cannot express my gratitude for this podcast. It’s so wonderful to hear so many different women with so many familiar and sometimes identical experiences! So many women are putting my feelings into words, and that is game changing on a day to day basis for me. Thank you so much for providing this platform! Is giving me the encouragement that I am on the right path for myself. And the confirmation that I am not alone. Thank you!
-
marcitartsExploring SobrietyI started to listen to the Bubble Hour over two years ago when I first started to think about breaking up with alcohol. I was sort of ‘researching’ sobriety. It was such a relief to hear women speaking openly and sharing about alcohol in their lives and in society. The conversations are very relatable with interesting guests being interviewed. Jean McCarthy is sincere, kind, intuitive and has a wonderful way with words. She shares from her own experience in sobriety and draws from her always wonderful and interesting guests. Great stories here! She is the rock star of sobriety (and actually the rock star who sings and wrote the song at the beginning of the podcast.)
-
galfloridaInspiring Podcast with good guestsI like the variety of guests and the down to earth stories. The audio has been fine in 2018 (others last year were less than impressed). Jean's voice is very soothing - not grating and no wild laughing like other recovery pods! - and if you don't ike it folks, delete it and try again next week!
-
civilwargalLove love love this podcastThis podcast has saved me from relapse so many times. Gifted interviewer and such inspiring interviews, full of honesty and hope. Can’t say enough good things about it

itappreciatorBest recovery podcastThe Bubble Hour is the best podcast about recovery with its amazing interviews of courage and the wealth of info for anyone curious about sobriety or just learning the ropes of creating a new sober life. This podcast helped me in my early sobriety and continues to be an essential part of my sober toolkit.
-
CatalinajaneLiterally got me sober. This podcast literally got me sober. I listened for a year or two before I finally decided I had had enough on December 28, 2015. If you are thinking about getting sober or in your first days, months, or years of recovery go back and listen to them all! As an INTROVERT in recovery who does not do AA or any sort of support group, I cannot recommend this podcast and others like it enough...one of the most important tools in my toolbox. Thank you to all the hosts!!!!! You have made such a big difference in the lives of so many people. 💜
-
Ms. McSmithAudio quality is awfulGreat messages and I feel it would be helpful but I usually can't get through an episode because of the poor audio quality.
-
Melissa in MNGreat content, but horrible audioThe only reason I'm rating low is due to the terrible audio quality. It's to the point I won't continue to listen because the volume is impossible to regulate. This is unfortunate because the stories are compelling and relatable. Hopefully the technical issues can be fixed!
