    Excellent
Jeanine is a gifted journalist who tells it like it is. I appreciate her candor and factual approach. She does excellent interviews with seldom heard experts on a wide array of topics. Time well spent.

    Necessary Reporting About Traditional Media
CS gives me hope. I subscribe to various news publications, including the NYT, WSJ, and Wash Post. CS is necessary to balance their viewpoints and unfortunate bias towards money. CS will continue to receive my subscription dollars before the others.

    Excellent media reset
It’s cohesive and careful critique of media is like a salve for our corporate media propaganda mindset. Thank you!

    One of the best!
Have listened to this show for years and really appreciate the interviews and topics covered.

Podcast will not stream, this happens often!
I really love your show, but about 10% to 25% of the shows will not play, someone isn’t carefully testing the show file after it’s been encoded. I have a background in encoding files for audio and video so I understand. Please have your technical staff double check the current show and repost it please. This Thursday s the only podcast I’m having an issue with. Thanks, David H.

    What happened to FAIR?
I used to listen to CounterSpin punctually every week and recommend it to everyone I knew as sharp, critical, really serious media criticism. Chalk up another casualty to the Trump era; sometime right around 2016 their commentary began to be almost indistinguishable from Media Matters or any other “progressive” nonprofit arm of the Democratic Party, just scoring smarmy rhetorical points against Republicans and preaching to the choir with bland liberal politics, while never thinking too hard about anything at all, including the show’s remit of how and why the media covers the world the way it does. It’s truly depressing to tune in to a show that carried me through the Iraq War years and hear the hosts do self-satisfied little snaps about what “Black people been knowin’ about” and the 1619 Project.

Completely Biased on Cuba - Press Freedom not a Concern?
Instead of taking an honest, balanced approach to Cuba coverage; they let someone repeat Cuban government talking points; twist anti-gov protesters’ message beyond recognition and pretend the country is not a dictatorship. Why not include press freedom and human rights ngo reports like Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch? Why not analyze all the video you can find of the various protests; and look into police brutality and secret detention of demonstrators for yourself? Embargo Embargo Embargo yet there is no evidence of the anti-government demonstrators mentioning it or blaming the lack of civil liberties and all economic problems on the U.S. embargo.

    I wish it was longer
I’m talking about the length of the show! Get your mind out of the gutter

    Favorite news recap
Amazingly fresh view with professional guests who are actual experts and researchers in the field of whatever topic of the episode. These are not “opinions maker” they are actual scholars who has deep knowledge of the topic. Plus I love how the host can be snarky and funny in her monologue ♥️

    Good show
I like when I see a new episode pop up in my feed. Consistently good interviews. Janine Jackson is one of my favorites. I wish it were longer than it is.

    Good stuff
Sometimes the host sounds a bit too smug, but the coverage is definitely worth the listen.

    Finally A Logo
I have been listening to this podcast for a years and the absence of any logo bugged me. And the podcast is obviously great.

The Scales Will Fall from Your Eyes
I first began listening to CounterSpin decades ago on my local community radio station, and soon made the commitment to follow it faithfully. This evolved to donating to FAIR and subscribing to the show on cassette and then CD. It's great to now be able to get it so simply by subscribing to the podcast. All those years have provided me a rich education concerning the shortcomings of the mainstream media and the many essential stories that they miss or distort. The last few years, CounterSpin has gone from a co-host format to just Janine Jackson at the helm, but with her consistently excellent work this is no detriment.
  • Kimberly, is that you?
    Very good
I like this show. It covers a lot of stories that the other shows omit. The host is great. I might not agree with her all the time, but she is well informed and makes her point in a compelling way. Bravo!

    Thank you
I listened to Counterspin in 2007-2012, my local radio station played it every week. I was happy to rediscover it a couple years ago in podcast form. Janine always does such good work, it’s something that I look forward to every week.
  • Not Another Me
    Thank you
I have been looking for a news podcast that allowed for thoughtful critique of the political spectrum and have found it and more in counter spin. I am thankful for your work and insights. Please keep reporting.

    The Corporate media watchdog
Counter Spin cuts through all the corporate media blather and gets to the heart of stories that the mainstream media cannot, or will not cover. I’ve followed this podcast for nearly 10 years, and I am continually impressed with their coverage of important, and often forgotten stories. Keep up the fight!
  • CritML
    Refreshing analysis on media
This is the type of intelligent analysis of media reporting that everyone should be listening to. Thank you.

    Thru the Looking Glass
Great podcast. Listen to journalists critic other journalists. I have never every heard another show anywhere ever doing what they doing. It’s so raw!! So if u can only eat cooked food don’t even try this, it will make u sick but if u know how valuable raw is, check it!!!!’

Great insights and perspectives, highly engaging
Like the organization that produces it— FAIR (Fairness & Accuracy In Reporting)—CounterSpin challenges the bias of today's "corporate" media and brings perspectives to news stories that are rarely found in America's major media outlets. Janine Jackson is a thoughtful, articulate and intelligent host who leads accessible interviews with qualified subject matter experts on a variety of political, social justice and human rights issues few are brave enough to address with a broad worldview. CounterSpin isn't afraid to say--and let guests say--things that so many radio, tv and internet news shows avoid. There are some programs who simply use their bullypulpits to simply spew their own agendas or stick-to-the-script provided by their bosses. CounterSpin is refreshing in so many ways, not least of which is its respect for its audience; there's no "dumbing down" here, nor is there even a hint of stuffiness. I especially like that Jackson verifies facts presented in an episode and incorporate accurate media criticism into the discussion of the topic at hand, for how a story is presented determines how the public perceives the facts and their importance.

Break free from corporate media narrowness
Gives a good perspective on news and what the mainstream media is missing. Personally, I think some of the mainstream media is quite good and read a lot of it -- but it is still essential to be reminded that it definitely has biases and blind spots.
  • Liamistalking
    A great new find
Thanks to Adam and Nima at Citations Needed for pointing me toward this incredibly helpful, clear, and compelling show. As the extension of a more-important-than-ever enterprise, they provide a bracing and welcomed dose of reality without getting too deep in the weeds. Professional, prescient, powerful.
  • Alone no more!
    The Antithesis of "Fake News"
This is primarily how I get my news! Very well researched and presented, the only thing I would change is the old school intro music and the title design so it looks more professional. You guys are incredible though, keep up the good work!

    Awesome podcast with unique approach
I really love getting my dose of Counterspin after reading or hearing all the mainstream news during a week. I especially appreciate it when they bring up stories that the mainstream news lets slip through the cracks. Thanks Couterspin team!
  • Mays1981
    Extremely important podcast
A corrective to the corporate media. Only half an hour a week, an amazing podcast.

    Essential weekly news round up
The weeks "news" analyzed for its propoganda angle. FAIR is a very critical part of what remains of investigative journalism in America. I listen to it every week, it is shocking what corporate media is doing to us.
  • Stewart96782
    Essential viewpoints and media evaluation
I learn so much for this podcast. I also enjoy reading their website and subscription newsletter. They strive to give a balance assessment of corporate spun news and special interest influence on my news consumption. A necessary check for avoiding the echo chamber syndrome, especially since I only have a limited number of hours to absorb all the different news viewpoints that potentially influence my thinking.

    A weekly must listen
This podcast hits the nail on the head for legitimate news that other outlets minimize or outright ignore because of their moneyed interests. We need more like this, this is the real news for the people.
  • birdienow
    "Must listen" podcast
I've learned so much in listening to just 2 installments. I've already bookmarked fair.org and prwatch.org thanks to this podcast. Really enjoyed James Henry of Columbia University. Can't wait for the next installment. Thanks so much!

    Incisive critique of mainstream news
They don’t let the mainstream “corporate” media get away with anything. Their bona fides as objective reviewers of the media would be more believable if they critiqued left-wing media.
  • Ayman Fadel
    Fast moving, powerful show
I follow all of FAIR Media Watch's stuff, and Counterspin is the first podcast I listen to when I'm working at my desk!
  • Noirkiss3
    Concise and informative.
This show does a great job of providing context to stories covered by the mainstream media. Much if the news today is little more than talking points from press releases with no scrutiny to the facts. This show takes its subjects to task both conservative and liberal. If you like this I suggest On The Media for a similar (albeit liberal) look at the news we consume.

    Counterspin
This show examines how the news is framed on both the left and the right. They are willing to go after the NY Times and NPR. I love it and I am firmly on the left. You must always be skeptical of corporate sponsored news sources, whether left of right politically.
  • Bill10351
    Fantastic!
Fantastic program, Insightful and sharp, Counterspin exposes the fallacious arguments and bias of the corporate media. A must listen!
  • NWKBricks1
    Long time listener
Counterspin is one of my favorite podcasts. They focus on media coverage of a specific topic and have on a guest in the last ten minutes of the show. If you like to question your news source, this is an excellent choice.
  • City of Glass
    Counterspin is insightful and witty
    Love it

    Strong. Succinct. Comprehensive.
Seriously. This rocks. This is brought to us by the watchdog group 'Fair'. Its a brief blend of hard hitting precision and candor from contrast. They also have a great blog. I got gift subscriptions for friends and family that are less E-savvy.
  • Untoothedyouth
    Great podcast!
Facts (and ALL the facts) are facts. Glad there are podcasts like this one out there.
  • Neumannn
Just listened to a few clips
The guest on healthcare was totally apolitical. She was speaking with a studied analysis and comparison of natl hcr to the ma program. The one on Afghanistan is informative as well. It's actually really good stuff. The mainstream media seems like a tabloid compared to this podcast.
  • Bluebelle51
    Demonstratively well informed
I was impressed with a small clip I heard in another podcast and sought this one out. I am glad I did. It's is an education in every one. Well presented and smart
  • Sallow Cheeks
    Fierce, accurate & necessary
This podcast consists of, first: scathing reviews of our corporate media's sloppy reporting & rightwing slant, and second: an in-depth look at a current news story, with guests who are extremely knowledgeable on the subject at hand. I wish this podcast was more frequent than just once a week.
