OakeastGreat contentGuests are fun to listen to, and the host knows his stuff, although he needs some speech coaching. Friendly advice would be to slow down speech, and not say "awesome" or "perfect" quite as often 😉😘

BuoyBanga31 yr old Noob SpearoIm from a Hawaii an had a disconnect with the ocean when I moved here. I’m finding my love for the water again. I found noob Spearo an love em but hard to relate to straya in the states so when I found your podcasts featuring more Locals I was hyped. Had a ruff first day yesterday with a couple buddies lost a bootie walking to the water, diving on a empty stomach an threw up leaving, was my 2nd time in a wetsuit ever, and my float wasn’t secure and floated to shore hahaha. Learned a lot and am stoked to learn more from you podcasting an in the ocean one day. Aloha

Ib YoThe only podcast I listen toWhether I’m driving to work or walking through the grocery store, I love listening to the spear! The tips are great but I always look forward to the stories. I like how they remind me about my firsts. Roman has a genuine love for the sport and it comes through in the show.

Kev_21The Spear PodcastI started spearfishing about one year ago. A friend at work heard that I’d picked up this new hobby and told me about a podcast called The Spear. I’ve been listening ever since. Every commute to and from work I’m gaining so much useful information that would almost be impossible for me to find anywhere else. Cool stories. Funny guys and gals. Lots of diversity in the types of fish, environments, techniques and gear being talked about. Awesome safety tips. Cool history lessons. I really like how conscious everyone on the podcast is about the ethical and conservation side of spearfishing. Big emphasis on sustainability! I’ve been able to see my spearfishing abilities get better and better every time I get in the water by applying the tips and techniques I get from this Podcast.

Cruise captGood stuffI only just started listening to this Podcast and have learned tons and enjoy the conversation between the host and guest! BUT, you say “that’s awesome” and “so cool” so often as an answer to your guests comments or stories, it makes you hard to listen to. Kind of like a verbal pause. Anyways love the podcast and will continue listening! I’ll just have to try and refrain from counting how many “that’s awesome’s” and “so cool’s” I hear.

Brian HardNext best thing to being in the water!Roman does an amazing job of getting highly skilled Spearos to help us newbies (and not so newbies) out with amazing tips, tricks and observations that dramatically speed up the learning curve. The knowledge I’ve gained in the first twenty or so episodes is almost unmeasurable. Keep up the amazing work Roman! I for one really appreciate what you are doing for the SpearoNation!

KevinK 07Everything You Need To Know And Then SomeSure, you could find the information you’re looking for, perusing the internet, clicking through page after page on forums, watching hundreds of how-to videos, but you also might not get the information you really need. Roman does a great job keeping things simple and straightforward, while also keeping it very interesting. Whether you’re a spearfisherman or just a freediver or whether you’re new to the sport or a veteran, there are loads to learn from this show. Here you can listen to how the professionals do it and hear some really amazing stories. I have learned so much from the show and it really opened my eyes to how much I didn’t know. Safety, etiquette, technique – it’s all in here. I look forward to all of the future episodes!

Jack in MAAwesome CO2 and O2 Guide 'Meditations''I am completely new to freediving and have yet to do a course, nervertheless I am quite curious about this whole hold your breath 'thing'. I stumbled upon Roman's podcast and found the episodes wherein he leads one through a CO2 or O2 table. It was/is excellent!!! I have done a fair amount of guided meditations and this was perfectly guided by Roman - a great combo of theoretical explanation, low stress and a tad bit of personal challenge. Roman's relaxed delivery helps keep things low key as well. Please make more of these Roman! Thank you!
-
Nick TerrioInsightfulAs an individual that is new to the sport of spearfishing, this podcast is extremely insightful and interesting. I have already learned so much and look forward to the new episodes every week. Thank you Roman for the time and dedication to our community!

HraulstonWhere else are you going to go?I love The Spear podcast and all that Roman does for his listeners. He does everything from crowdsourcing ideas, giveaways, and having us be included in episodes. There isn’t a resource like this out there that will give you such valuable information and insight into spearfishing. Once you listen to one of these episodes, you’re going to want to listen to them all!
-
natewells7TheSpear = ProgressThanks Roman for a really insightful podcast that has given me great value. As a new spearo trying to figure out where to go, how to dial in my equipment, how to stalk fish, and how to do progress is my breath hold, your interviews and insights have saved me tons of time and probably some embarrassing mistakes. Anyone starting out or even a seasoned spearo would gain from your podcast.

Jchristoffersongreat resourceliving so far from the ocean as I do, I don’t get the chance to dive or even really interact with other divers as much as I would like to. These podcasts let me kind of dive vicariously through others adventures. I have also learned a whole lot by listening to these seasoned divers being interviewed by Roman. All the tips they give and learning how they do things is bound to help my diving. Great job Mr Castro, keep it up!! Jim C

Chris @ tbbracing.comA little slice of homeI've been following since the inception of this podcast, but never had the opportunity listen on a regular basis. But I finally went out and purchased an ipod shuffle so I can download them all and listen to the podcasts while I travel. So glad to see a local spearo getting bigger and seeing success. Thanks for giving me something from home to enjoy while I'm gone!

Resco InstrumentsKeep Crushing, Roman. Great info from solid spearos. Not only is this podcast a great place for new divers to start, it’s a fun place to end up. Very entertaining interviews with tons of perspective. Really dig the interviews with the old salts that got started before I was born. It’s hard to not go out and suit up after an episode of “The Spear”!! Keep it up, brother. Smitty.

Victor MontoyaChanged my LifeI’ve always been an outdoorsman (wilderman) and coming from the Rocky Mountains to the Beaches of Western Florida 4 years ago I was in search of an ocean adventure. Fly fishing was in my blood but fishing the Mountain West there was always a physical challenge getting to the the best fishing holes. I was thirsting for anything hunting, fishing, etc. something that encompassed it all that also came along with a physical challenge. One day I was invited to Scallop in the Gulf of Mexico and it was the best day I had “in the water”. I immediately went out and got a pole spear and started hunting my local waters...which led me to lots of research and to this podcast. The stories I’ve listened to here and the knowledge that you and your guests share solidified my obsession with spearfishing / freediving. This weekend I completed my PFI training course and met a few buddies…with a new mindset of safety and humility I will do my best to represent the people and the sport of spearfishing. Keep up the good work! Thanks Roman.

Smile2007!Love itI am new to free diving and spearfishing and I happened upon the spear and I really can't stop listening to it. I have even told some people at work about it and they like it also. Funny thing is is they are not divers and I don't think they have any plans to give it a try they just like the stories. I listen to it all the time from just sitting around or while doing work around the house. The Spear is encouraging me to work harder, get better, and more experience to be able to get some of these larger fish that many of the guests speak of. Probably one of the most important things is that The Spear preaches is safety. pS. I like this podcast a lot. And I have never listened to a podcast before in my life. Thank you to The Spear
-
