Tivo166Not nearly as good as it used to beThe only real insider (Ignacy) is rarely there now, and it’s just the other two guys with board game connections calling themselves “insiders.” It mostly is self promotion of their two reputations, and you can get just as much information subscribing to board game article newsfeeds. I listened for years and enjoyed the conversations, but now it’s two guys taking about their travels and board games they played, their social media names (which is 10% of the runtime), plus additional self promotion - the “pod-father” has to be guest of honor wherever he goes and constantly reminds you of it. There are much better board game podcasts out there, sad to see this one drop from my feed.

CoryakFinal crossed over and sold outThey sold out to BGG. Buyer beware here! And the last year the quality has really taper off and unfortunetly downward. It was one of my favorite podcasts but the new format is so disjointed and choppy. End of an era sadly. It was a good run.

TheDustyShadowHave a conversation with these board game insidersI started listening in 2023 and while other board game related podcasts have come and gone from my playlist, this one is a keeper. This show features discussions of board game business news, and discussions of relevant questions to and from the BGG guild for the show. Thanks to the vast industry experience of Stephen, Ignacy, and Corey, they all have excellent insight and information on the board game industry. Each show feels “conversational” and after listening to each, I feel like I was part of the discussion that these “Insiders” just invited me to. In the special, live, episode 300, Stephen announced that they are moving the show from Dice Tower to BGG Media. I’m hoping the format and feel of the show continues.

Johnsonrocks2Please fix sound and download speedI don’t know why this continues to be a problem, but the sound of the show is typically around half that of other podcasts in the Dice Tower Network. Also, the download speed is awful. I can download 3 hour podcasts in 5 seconds, where this 1 hour one takes upwards of 2-10 minutes sometimes. This really needs to be fixed.

FreashGreat Show!I love the show, but the sound level comes in very low for me. Hard to hear sometimes while commuting.
-
Glenn EikenberrySuper uniqueIncredibly fun look behind the curtain into the board game industry. Ignacy and Steven are thoughtful and humorous, and I’ve learned a lot listening to them.

Jason HuffmanGreat Game Industry Coverage & EntertainmentI've listed to this podcast since it was started, and it's excellent. If you're interested in gaming industry coverage, they do a great job of covering major recent developments, while offering up business insights and answering fan questions. I find it especially informative due to their different business approaches/emphasis: Stephen with more licensed titles and Ignacy with more in-house development and staff. Their banter and camaraderie take the show from very good to great!
-
RetroaliasGreat Board Gaming Podcast!I love the knowledge the hosts are able to leverage and their deep dives into the business side of the Industry is unmatched! This is my go-to podcast for Boardgaming!
-
bremerhaven77Great news on the industry from the insideThis is more than just the discussion of games. It is the business and design from two leaders in the industry. If you are curious as to how the business is run and how to be succussful in the industry, then tune in.

ShreddemonThe dynamic duo of board game podcasters!I simply cannot live without Board Games Insider. Both Ignocy and Stephan are very passionate about their businesses and bring such an unbridled enthusiasm to the show. They report on current industry news with a business commentary slant. I’m always interested in their point of views on hot topics. They openly talk about how their businesses run and the challenges they struggle with. Both are an invaluable resource for those looking to get an inside peak into the business side of gaming. I rank Ignocy and Stephan right up there with some of the greatest dynamic duos in history... Danny DeVitto & Arnold Schwarzenegger Frodo & Sam Bill & Ted Tango & Cash Riggs and Murtaugh (Stephan is definitely Riggs...) Burt & Ernie Batman & Robin Lavern & Shirley Keep it up guys!

travis.reiterGood content tempered with self promotionContent and insights are interesting but it comes with a fair amount of self promotion as would be expected with the hosts both having their own game businesses.

ultimóA Must For Hardcore (board) GamersI love this podcast. It delivers what it promises, an inside look at the board gaming world. The hosts clearly have a good grasp of the industry as owners and operators of Stonghold Games and Portal Games (respectively). One is based in the USA and another is based in Poland, which gives the hosts inside perspective of key differences and similarities between the North American and European markets. There are many more reasons I could praise this podcast, but it would be better if you just went and tried it out for yourself.

NickandClareBest Board Game PodcastThen why four stars instead of five? Consistency. Your show is the best, and if you put one out weekly I would give you five stars plus. Get your stuff together and give us a regular show!!

mentalfrostThe Business Side of of Board Games is Insightful and AwesomeIf you’re interested in hobby board games and the business behind them, this is an excellent podcast. Two publishers, Stephen (Stronghold Games) and Ignacy (Portal Games), come together to talk shop about producing board games. They discuss industry news, the impacts that certain news events have on the industry, and the work that goes into creating and maintaining successful hobby board game publishing companies. Both Stephen and Ignacy were gamers before publishers and their enthusiasm for gaming shines through all their discussion of the business. They always seem itching to play games as well as make them. Their long track record as successful board game publishers gives them undeniable credibility, and their different approaches to the business leads to humorous, fascinating, and insightful conversation. As someone who has wanted to know the business behind the hobby I love so much, I could not have asked for a better podcast. It’s awesome!

BGSpielguyGreat insider podcastThis podcast brings together two publishers from two different countries with somewhat different publishing philosophy. One of the few podcasts I listen to as soon as it is released.
-
