iPad_For_REAL_WorkGood, but can be a chore to followI really like their top lists of new releases, but there are no corresponding show notes, so it makes it very frustrating to find the bands and albums they talk about. For example, they discussed how to pronounce the band Gjenferd, but never spell it out for us listeners. Imagine trying to find that band’s music, when all you hear are multiple pronunciations, with no indication of how it is spelled. It’s as though there is no regard for the listener, since the hosts are looking at the actual list with spelling, so there is no understanding that we aren’t looking at the same list. I can understand that they don’t want to publish the list because then some listeners might not bother to listen to the show, but there must be a middle ground. How about post the list as a PDF with a password, and then hide the password in the middle of the podcast, so that if somebody wants to open the PDF, they would’ve had to listen to most of the podcast to hear its password? Modern podcasts use show notes and other methods to keep the listener engaged. That’s what retains listeners, and attracts new ones. There is nothing more frustrating than listening to a podcast that itself causes frustration.

jace430Great show on rock & rock historyDiscovered The Hook Rocks via another great podcast Shout it out Loudcast as cohost Zeus was a guest on the Whitesnake legacy episode and I am indeed hooked! Whitesnake was my first concert on 1990 Slip of the Tongue tour. 1987 was my introduction to Whitesnake and have dabbled with their history but this episode taught me a lot of things I didn’t know and some songs I need to check out. Going back to listen to older episodes and loving it! You got yourself a new listener! 🤘🏻

W J TaylorA Rock Podcast You Need To Know!I have been a loyal listener to Jay Scott’s The Hook Rocks podcast almost since the beginning. It is an excellent podcast that keeps me updated on new rock music, legacy rock and hard rock artists, and the current issues facing the rock industry. Jay always has excellent guests and the New Music Spotlight has introduced me to so many emerging rock artists. His passion for the music is infectious and he produces so much content that every serious rock fan will love. Check it out! I’m @JTNCRocks on Twitter.

TunerPhisherKeep calm and rock on...Eddie Trunk boasts “sports talk for the rock fan”, and is almost sports free. If NPR had a rock talk show, this is what it would sound like, minus the National Propaganda part. Like most podcasts, Jay could work a bit on balancing his levels, but you get more than you pay for here. If you love the past and care about the future of ROCK (and we ain’t talkin’ Imagine Dragons here), this is some of the best rock talk content you’re likely to find. The Hook Rocks!
