Six string poetMORE THAN A PODCAST!The CLIMB is much more than a podcast but rather a community of like minded and musically passion driven people. The content is spot on with real life applications presented in a conversational manner between two friends sitting at a table grabbing lunch. I always learn something and find myself laughing at some point which keeps me engaged. I’m proud to be a CLIMB’er 😎

B. HackerClass is in SessionI listen to several songwriting podcasts. Many of them interview artists and songwriters and they are very valuable in that there is usually a nugget or value bomb coming...you just have to wait for it. With The C.L.I.M.B, class is ALWAYS in session from the word “Go”! There is no waiting and the podcast seems to be designed that way. People pay money for the lessons and information that Brent and Johnny give away. Not only for songwriters but also artists looking to get their product out there and grow their fan base.

Stuey HamboneTop notch advice. Finally a podcast that caters to my passion, music. The duo of Brent,a songwriter that shares advice on crafting a hit song and getting it into the right hands, and Johnnie who has earned his stripes performing and has a passion for helping musicians succeed in promoting their craft, is a must listen to podcast. Being a songwriter and performer for 20 years I have really enjoyed the useful tips every week. My band Big Sky Moon (selfish plug) is about to release our debut double cd very soon and we are going to set up a consultation on how to promote it the right way. If music is your passion hit subscribe and enjoy climbing to the top. See you there. Jason S2

ClayMottleyPerfect for independent musicianAs an independent musician trying to find my way through the music industry on my own, this podcast has been more than helpful. With specific information, myth-busting stories and real life accounts and interviews with people working in the industry, it’s like having your own in person apprenticeship.

sgmoney45Podcast That Is Music To My Ears!Saddled with faces for radio but armed with more essential songwriter information than any two men should have....Johnny and Brent’s enthusiasm for the craft and helping other attain their goals really shines through. So much great information! I have shared this podcast over and over again with other artists and songwriters because Johnny and Brent often times pull back the curtain on things everyone wants to know but don’t know who to ask....certainly worth checking out and absorbing their wisdom!

deck-hand daveHighly RecommendFor me, every episode of The CLIMB podcast always delivers that “wow, I didn’t know that” moment. More often than not there are MORE than one of those single moments, and that’s why it’s become a part of my normal routine. Johnny and Brent actively engage questions/comments from their listeners which keeps the content fresh and interesting 😎

Lou GazzaraMindy Pack interviewThanks for your Podcast. I am an American Idol Finalist from Season 2 back in the day and have been Las Vegas headliner and touring concert artist for years singing every style and genre you can think of in my show. The vocal extremes are very demanding and listening to Mandy was an awesome treat and motivation to find a coach that can help me at the higher professional level. Awesome stuff. I’ll definitely be listening to more.

Duey74My favorite Music podcastThis podcast has something for everyone in the music business. Alternating between the respective expertise of its two personable hosts – Johnny on the Business side and Brent in Songwriting – every episode is informative and entertaining, savorable like a drink you sip through the evening, and the mini-episodes are like the quick shot of whisky you take right before getting on stage. Whether you’re local, regional, or national, a green sprout or a weathered pro, and in any style of music, get in on the CLIMB.

Kristina BandinaCAN’T CREATE WITHOUT THE CLIMB!Without a doubt, Johnny and Brent are the BOMB! Value bombs!! Every single one of their episodes hits the mark! I can punch that button to play, and I will hear answers to questions I hadn’t thought of yet as well as get the answers to what’s currently on my mind. I can’t tell you how many times, they’ve pulled me back from the “I quit” cliff!! So, thank you both for mentoring, educating, and pushing all of us artists and songwriters to be the very best version of our artistic selves! Love you guys!! Kristina Bandina

ParziesTechnical quality of podcast audioWell, I listen to several podcasts regularly and have listened to several more. The CLIMB has, hands down, the worst audio I’ve heard on a podcast. -both host’s voices sound like they’re in the bathroom (use some basic, inexpensive acoustic treatment, yo) -all the audio is hyper, way-over-the-top compressed/limited (back WAY off the limiting) -there is continuous, nasty distortion (most likely attributable to the hideous use of the limiter and bad gain staging) -the files sound like 96 kbs mp3s or worse (use 320 kbs mp3s, for crying out loud) It’s unlistenable which is a shame because the content is good. And they want to increase their listenership? I have an idea!...let a good audio engineer fix the audio. Good grief.

Greg White Jr.Education, Inspiration, MotivationThis business is a grind. Sometimes you get to float on cloud nine just to spend the next few weeks grinding through hell for the next great moment and to keep the dream alive. When I’m having a hard time (or on cloud nine) I listen to you guys and I always get a boost of what I need to keep going. Not a week goes by that I’m not inspired by ya’ll. Thanks for always being there gents! Means the world to me and I know it means the world to others as well. Respectfully, Greg White Jr. “Florida Country”

RocketRide69You Gotta Give This Podcast a Chance!I am a failed musician (back from the 80s, yes I'm old...) and was curious how one makes it in the music business today. The unintended hidden benefit has been that these episode topics have also helped my music podcast grow.....especially the topics around how to market yourself and connect with fans. Thanks guys for all you do. (I'm not looking for free promotion....so no need to mention the specific podcast I'm on...but in case you have interest the podcast is called Growin' Up Rock).

They offer great tips and the CLIMB community is great. I'm glad to be a part!

Bluemule31Fun In DysfunctionalIn an often dysfunctional world of so-called songwriter “advice”, Johnny and Brent give tips and fun stories that helps me improve my craft. The only reason I’m not giving them 6 stars is because I haven’t gotten a foot rub yet.
-
Dan H NYCIncredible for songwriters!I just discovered this podcast last week and have been listening to episodes every day! I’m a songwriter with some opportunities/meetings coming up in the near future and Brent and Johnny have really helped me learn some essential information to prevent some rookie mistakes! Although I’ve read songwriting books and taken a few courses, there’s nothing like hearing the inspiring and authentic stories that Brent and Johnny share in every episode. The interviews are fantastic too :) Oh, make sure to join the FB group too! So great to be part of this awesome community -Dan H.

FrMatthewTough loveI listen to the climb every week. You guys stretch me past my comfort zone. A few times I even got mad when it hit close to home and shut you off, but I always come back, because I know the truth when I hear it. Bad habits, self doubt, and amateur tactics die hard. Thanks for the tough love guys! -Matthew Keller

asdf654Love itI recently got back from a NSAI meeting in Nashville that Brent was speaking at. He referred me and everyone else to listen to his podcast, and I’m glad I did. Brent thinks outside the box and gives you different ways of going about the art of songwriting. He’s truly an awesome guy and an amazing songwriter.

ReidmotoSuper Songwriting Podcast from Legends of Song!I love this podcast, and Brent Baxter and Johnny Dwinell are legends in the songwriting game. There is so much value in terms of tips, advice, and they just tell it like it is. I think a person could shave off months or even years off their learning curve in songwriting, which includes so many skillsets, knowledge, and experience to even become somewhat proficient. I highly recommend tuning in, and thank you Brent and Johnny!

Steve WinnettBalanceI titled this one balance because thats what Johnny D and Brent Baxter bring to the table for me. These guys ARE the Pros. They dive deep into every little nook and cranny about the music business and then they share all that knowledge with us for FREE! Any time I feel like I'm slacking, I just throw on a podcast and these two are full of encouragement and make you want to put your foot the floor and get'r dun! I'd recommend this Podcast for any musician, novice or Pro. Lots of great information here and they are a hoot to listen to! Great show guys, thank you so much for caring enough about us enough to take time away from your lives to help us better ours giving us the best chance at reaching our goals. Rock on guys!

Nikki and the Human ElementSo smart and generous with their knowledge!I have been listening to the CLIMB now for the past week in order to quickly get up to speed on how to promote a band and release an album. I am listening from the beginning of their podcast in order to not miss a pearly word and find myself more energized and confident than I thought possible. The advise is sage and easy to follow. They are so respectful of each other and generous with their knowledge. I am also impressed with how quickly they respond to my emails and request for mentoring, really walking the walk! I feel like I am developing a tribe and not doing it alone. As I Go You Go! Nikki and the Human Element
