KrisSmartI love this podcast, but the ads make it unlistenableSince iheart took over, the ads are half the podcast run time and jarring to the flow of the story. I don’t mind ads and want podcasts to be paid for their work but this is too much, it puts a 4 minute break in the middle of a thought

JuliebJulieToo Many CommercialsThis used to be such a good podcast but the frequent commercials interrupt the narrative. I couldn’t finish a recent episode because commercials came at the most inappropriate moments and key elements of the author’s message were lost or cheapened by a commercial for an unrelated product. Sadly, I stopped following.

KturnmartHit or Miss, usually a hit though.Depending on the recording quality, subject and the author, this can be an excellent show. One thing I can’t stand is the intro when Kate says: “about the choices authors make, good and bad” honestly, I’ve listened to about 50 of these and it’s just the author summing up their book. There is no discussion about the authors making decisions in their process to tell the story.
-
MauradingOrangeSuch a great showIt’s interesting to hear about how authors thinking about the people and communities impacted by the stories they are trying to tell and to be able to add the books that sound interesting to my reading list.
-
Quel the belleHe sent her for bagels! Thanks Kate for reminding me of the awesome BBC show Whitechapel! I am rewatching, and Season 3 starts out with a business owner sending out his assistant for food ate midnight, just like the crime this episode starts with!
-
Artknight12Great Podcast!I love your work Kate. Thank you for bringing us this great podcast!

frannycrowOne of my favorite showsYou do a great job, Kate! Thank you

_bluejay_15Ad setup is distractingEpisodes are entertaining, but the continuous, random ad placements without any subtly is so jarring it takes me out of the story being told. Slight fading or light music would work wonders for the listener.

B10@ntDisappointedI have been a fan of both Tenfold More Wicked and Wicked Words since they both began. But I have to admit that I’ve been disappointed with a few of your recent interviews. The misogynistic ways that the authors of these stories have described women, regardless of if they were the victim or perpetrator, has had me turning off the interview.

Lynn_5412Simply FantasticI could listen to Kate all day (and I do!). She’s brilliant in capturing the voice of the journalist and how they ventured to get their story. And because of this, I’ve learned so much more about news I wasn’t even aware. If possible, and with all of Kate’s “free time,” I hope we get more podcasts with her. Love the one with Paul Holes too!

NucleardivaRedboneExcellent episode!!

Will I MinaA different take on true crime podcastsOne of my favorite podcasts. I love hearing straight from the authors and journalists who have poured so much of themselves into research and reporting. It almost feels like a short-form deep dive (oxymoron, I know!). It’s a rare perspective. The variety of cases is engaging and Kate is skilled at interviewing and framing each case. Honestly, interview-format podcasts aren’t always my favorite - just a personal preference - but Wicked Words is an exception! Thanks for putting this in my feed every week!
-
IvakotaNice mix of storytelling from the authorsThis podcast is different than most of the shows I follow as it is told by the guest rather than the host/investigative journalist and is the perfect length, tone, and mood to listen to just about anytime of day. The authors she has on are great at giving us the best of their stories without having to read the book, which is nice. I really like the podcast.

Bookgirl618She’s goneLoved the episode but your guest sounded like she was talking through a bad land line connection. Hard to listen to.
-
VioletshikibuSmart showVery thoughtful coverage and interviews, glad to listen to such an experienced and informed expert.

fraidofshadowRespectedLove each episode, love the concept of interviewing the authors of these historical cases. Kate puts in a lot of work on all her podcasts and it shows

Nikki1492One of the bestKate Winkler Dawson is by far one of the best true crime podcasters out there. Everything is deeply researched, sensitively presented with warmth and when it fits, humor. Love the podcast.

hsifhebancoehwbbchTen Fold will be missedI just binged through season 12 of Ten Fold More Wicked and at the end, Kate announces that this is the last of the show. She will be focusing on Wicked Words and Buried Bones going forward. That made me sad and compelled me to write this review. I just love Kate as an author, writer and podcast host. I could listen to her talk all day Lol. But Ten Fold was a little more special to me because she deep dives into the subject’s families and we got to hear background stories that we otherwise may never would have heard, if Kate didn’t interview the families and friends. I guess I just want to thank Kate for 12 amazing seasons of the show and say that it will be missed.

Excellent research based on intense curiosity, and a wonderful writer. I wouldn’t miss a thing she does books podcasts it doesn’t matter I am there. She is five stars throughout, her career. I know that my heart and Kate please realize how special you are.

CMiddleIslandSay It Isn’t So!I’m so sad to hear this is the last season. I have loved these seasons of TMW. I have listened to them all at least 3 times through. Kate is a lovely story teller and I’m grateful to have journeyed into the past with her!!
-
BMWEinNC03Thanks!Thank you for a great series! I wish you well and look forward to listening to you on Buried Bones and Wicked Words.
-
KiktonksThank you to the Tenfold teamI've been truly touched by the incredible work by this podcast and its team, both Tenfold More Wicked and Wicked Words. Thoughtful without ANY indulging in voyeurism or "trauma porn," Tenfold treated its stories like these people were people, even hundreds of years ago. I have often wondered at how Tenfold would approach the many stories it didn't highlight in its twelve seasons, wondering what Tenfold would notice that other true crime podcasters do not. There's a real kindness in seeking to witness a person's final moments, and in understanding their killer. Thank you Tenfold for teaching me how to hold the truth with kindness, to allow people to be complicated and nuanced, even centuries later. I'll be relistening often.
-
CZ MartinsThis can’t be the last season!Say it isn’t so! I love this podcast and just learned this may be the final season. I love Kate’s writing style, her calming voice, and her research topics. I actually traveled to Boston from CA just because she makes me fall in love with any place she covers. At least I still have Buried Bones.
-
JJbrklynFrom Episode 1I’ve been a listener since the beginning and love every season. So sad this is the last but glad I’ve had the opportunity to listen to them all!

Rich JesterTitle: A Captivating Dive into True Crime with "Wicked Words"I've been an avid listener of the true crime podcast "Wicked Words" for a while now, and it never ceases to impress me with its gripping storytelling and thorough research. The podcast not only delves into fascinating true crime stories but also provides a wealth of recommendations for true crime novels that have become some of my favorites. Through "Wicked Words," I've discovered incredible books like "American Predator," which offers a chilling account of one of the most elusive serial killers in recent history, and "Feud" by Dean King, a riveting tale of a historical conflict that unveils the complexities of human nature. The podcast's host has an uncanny ability to connect listeners with great authors and uncover revelations about real history that many people think they know but are often surprised to learn more about. The depth of research and the engaging way in which stories are told make "Wicked Words" a standout in the true crime genre. If you're a fan of true crime and enjoy uncovering the layers of history through well-researched books, this podcast is a must-listen. It's not just about the crimes; it's about understanding the human stories behind them, and "Wicked Words" does this exceptionally well. Highly recommended!

tcrazyhouse5Excited for Season 12…I love listening to KWD, and the thoroughness she puts into her podcasts. I was sorry to hear, while listening to MFM, that Season 12 will be the last for Tenfold More Wicked. I’m hoping she continues with Wicked Words and Buried Bones! Great job Kate!
-
lynnskipsobvious stretchi love KWD and stuck with these seasons for a while but it’s obvious there isn’t enough detailed information available on these old stories to support this many episodes. The unfunny and unsupportable conjecture is hard to listen to.
-
LoptyihgftioAmazing true crime podcastI LOVE this podcast so much more than the typical true crime podcast. I’m not like really into history or anything normally, but this podcast takes me away to another place, another time, another life. The way it is narrated and structured is so perfect, it’s like reading a really good book that you are so immersed in , you feel like you’re in the story. Excellent, genius, and a real “page turner.” The only problem is, I can’t stop listening to it!
-
DecoolzI do love this podcastHowever, in the April 15 2024 episode one of the experts says “they were burning witches 90 miles away.” I assume he was talking about Salem, and that is factually incorrect. No one was burned to death during the Witch Trials. As a podcast that talks so much about facts and digging deep to tell the whole story, I’m very surprised that slipped in. Otherwise, this podcast is fantastic. I am loving how this story is being told. I’ve only heard it told as a “spooky urban legend” before this deep dive.
-
SafetyForKidsGreat history hereThis is closely aligned with my own family history- Great Migration, followed Roger Williams to RI, went with Hutchinson to New Netherlands, etc. It’s Wonderful to follow this story!
-
Shakalaka1Love season eleven!“Fire and Brimstone” is by far my favorite season so far, and we are only two episodes in! I truly didn’t want today’s to end. :)
