    Ad factory
WARNING: This podcast will spam your feed with near daily ads for other podcasts. If you have notifications on, you’ll get ones pretending the podcast has released a new episode, but really it’s an ad for another, completely unrelated podcast.

    Good newscast, great people
Occasionally a bit too carbrained and suburb-pilled, but a lovely reimagining of daily local news.

    Spammy Feed
About a month ago City Cast started including a second ‘you might also like’ episode of a different podcast in the daily feed. To me, this is equal to email spam. I’m okay with ads in episodes of free podcasts because I chose to subscribe but to include a second unwanted podcast in the feed is annoying. Sometimes the second podcast is in the feed twice in a day… will come through in the morning with the City Cast podcast episode and again in the afternoon. A shame.

    Need better investigating
    1. HPD is understaffed… academy would take 5+years to fill retirement voids alone and $$$$ - they are obscuring the dilemma- Houston is >2500 officers below FBI estimates for this sized city. 2. The “real” story was not reported for MHH transplant. This was a hatchet job not a surgeons manipulation of records.

    Refreshing
Good solid work from these folks! It’s refreshing to listen to news & current events delivered from reporters who don’t hide their opinions. I don’t always agree with them but I appreciate the openness.

A good idea, but inconsistent and hard to listen to
Born and raised Houstonian here. I gave this podcast a three week listen to try it out. I found it really inconsistent and hard to listen to at times, especially when hosts and guests are trying to sound like tik tok influencers rather than podcast show hosts. And a lot of time the information given is just plain wrong. There were some very informative episodes, such as ones on Freedman’s Town and real estate along the energy corridor, but those seem to be the exception. The show that made me unfollow was the one about the rodeo and the border. The guests clearly had no idea of rodeo history or how important it is in Houston but wanted to bash it anyway. And then the show turned into a hit piece on Republicans and misinformation on what’s going on at the border. I gave it a try and now I’m giving it a pass.

    Use to love it!
I use to listen to City Cast Houston daily, but I don’t enjoy a majority of the content as much now. A lot of the episodes are re runs of previous material. The quality of the discussions and information were way more in depth when Lisa Gray was the host. The current hosts DO NOT even live in Houston. I feel like this takes away from their understanding of the problems Houstonians face. For example, the HISD episode was so basic. It doesn’t seem like Raheel has a good grasp of the specifics HISD is facing. This theme appears throughout many newer episodes. Please rename this City Cast Houston Metro or have hosts who actually live in Houston. Hoping the podcast will be more interesting and educational in the future!

After listening to many podcasts on national news, like “the daily”, for many years I realized I don’t have enough local news info in my life; which frankly matters more in terms of my day to day! So glad I found this podcast. The host is so entertaining and I love that they present on a variety of topics. I look forward to each episode!

    Awful Interview (Mike Miles)
If the host isn’t going to ask challenging questions and follow ups, or even push back with some prepared facts, then why even have an interview? Just let Mike Miles record his own podcast! C’mon CityCast, do some journalism or just quit.

    Great show
    Congratulations, Antréchelle!
  • TheBlackAttack
    Love the show but HTX
I love what y’all are doing to provide multiple views of Houston and great topics generally. But HTX? Why? No one uses that unless they’re from a Chicago ad agency. It’s HOU, always has been. Stop trying to make htx happen.
