I’ve been catching up on old episodes and hit play on a new show when it popped up. Umm… doesn’t feel organic or spontaneous anymore. Feels very staged, fake laughing and tangents that are again, feel scripted and not off the cuff. Will continue to listen to the old shows and try another new one or two, but I’m losing interest.

the shows you guys have been covering are so bad / annoying / no heart. I like the funny tangents but i miss hearing more of the heart joey and ellyn have. also… so many ads! :(

If a genie granted me one wish and one wish only, it would be that Ellyn and Joey could put out daily content, without exhausting themselves and while keeping their sanity/wellness and personal lives in tact. I absolutely love their energy and friendship and storytelling. 10/10, this show has been an anchor for me when my mood is off and I need a laugh or reminder how much good there is in the world that outweighs all the bad. Don’t ever stop y’all!

Please stop covering the absolute worst shows. These last few have been so bad. Not fun campy bad, just straight terrible, and it doesn’t help the pod.

Update: I love this show but the ads are making it unlistenable! It’s starting to remind me of TCO 😬🫣 OG: Good show by good people who lead by example, live with authenticity, and genuinely strive to make the world a better place. How dare people speak out about the things that harm them, like politics and religion 🤨 🤦🏻‍♀️ Are they wacky? Yes. If you don’t like tangents and wacky side characters then maybe this is not for you. There are only 12 million OTHER podcasts to choose from.

I absolutely love Ellyn and Joey!

I used to really love this show but for the last few months I’ve found it really difficult to follow, they’re off on too many tangents and I lose the story in the first 10-15 mins or my brain just tunes out while they’re doing song riffs. Truly love these two and have seen them have a great dynamic in the past but recently it’s gotten super rough and hard to listen to.

Great people. Great stories. So funny. Just listen!

I listen to all the true crime pods and there are definitely a ton of good ones. But, this is the one and only podcast I can listen to no matter what mood I’m in and it makes me happy. Ellyn and Joey are two of the most loving and hilarious human beings.

But STOP IT. No political talk. Neither one of you are well versed enough to decide whether Trump is a ‘good’ guy or ‘bad’. But DO KNOW THIS… THE MAJORITY of Americans VOTED for him. So this is no ‘hostile takeover’. Americans WANTED what he is now doing. If you can’t live with being in the ‘minority’…then LEAVE THE COUNTRY. I will miss you. But I won’t miss the whining and subtle ‘velvet knifes’ aimed at our DULY ELECTED PRESIDENT. Deal with it. Or LEAVE.

Ellyn and Joey are a constant delight… their commentary is balanced with brief bouts of hilarity and witty banter between dear friends interwoven among well-thought-out recapping done exceptionally clearly… This is all presented within that tricky sphere in this “comedy true crime podcast” genre where they honor the victims and families with nothing but respect and compassion. The way these two treat their fan base is unmatched. Keep slaying, my queens! (Or should I just say that outright to Joey since Ellyn never reads these? Hahaha) Much love. ♥️ Respectfully, though, I could do with more nipples.

This is definitely not for everyone but it is 100% for me. Love these two people. I laugh out loud on a regular basis.

it's january of 2025 and i have so far have listened all the way back to june of 2023! i loveeee them!! they are so entertaining and i love their comments i listen to them literally all day and its such a good podcast!

I look forward to this podcast every week. I miss a lot of it from laughing and am constantly rewinding. My 82 year old mother also thinks they are hysterical.

I only made it through the first 20 minutes because I wasn’t really sure what I was listening to. Is the purpose of the podcast to go over a story or try out sad tired one line jokes from the hosts.

This podcast is one of my favorites to listen to because they are so wacky! Sometimes they make a sad murder into a very questionable situation

Come to learn how to pronounce “dispatch” in a new and exciting way! and never leave because there’s an endless supply of butt stuff, nipples, and stories about religious trauma! Oh and Joey’s twerking and daddy voice… iykyk. I love how much effort Joey and EllYn put into their research and skits and bits they include. I don’t know how they do it, so consistently. I would love if they rewatched and re-did the first episodes of OWD. The content they make on the IG is also super funny. Come back to Seattle area soon so I can make a dragalong out of my friends or husband!

The hymn in this episode around 8:45 is the exact melody of No Tears Left To Cry by Ariana Grande. I couldn’t believe my earballs. I can’t find the prisoners song anywhere but did Grande get it from that or did they steal that melody from another song?! I’m spiraling, this seems so crazy

I first listened to this because I loved Patrick from TCO and this was another way to listen to him. Well, Ellyn turned out to be the real attraction and when she brought Joey in, this show really found its niche. I absolutely adore them both and I listen every week. Patrick who? Don’t skip this hilarious show from two incredibly talented people, it’s just a ton of fun plus also crime!

I have been a listener from the very beginning and have always loved this podcast. It sad to me that for people that say they are inclusive they not very inclusive of people that have different opinions on politics and religion. I listen to this for true crime not the politics or their mockery of religion.
